Disney Fairytale Designer Collection - Heroes & villains collection 2016
eBay charges 10% of the total amount paid by the buyer (so whatever the item sold for + shipping). So, if a doll sold for $120 + $60 shipping, ebay will take $18 off of that for fees. PayPal will take 3% of $180 for it's fees (well 2.9% + $0.35).

I have heard people claim they can ship a LE doll for $35 or less through Fed-Ex or UPS, but that's because they are using their employer's Fed-Ex or UPS account, which has a discount built in for volume. If a regular person were to go to the FedEx store or the UPS store, it's going to cost $50 to ship (minimum) a 12" Designer Doll set of two dolls, with insurance for $500, if the item is properly packaged. The doll + proper packaging is going to weigh about 5-6 pounds. The 17" LE will weigh 7-9 pounds. Again, this is assuming proper packaging.

Then, if you want to ship priority mail, it should go as a large package. From CA to the East Coast, it can either go priority mail or standard shipping (fourth class mail), now called USPS retail ground. If you don't have a knowledgeable mail person who doesn't measure the package, it might be able to go through as a standard sized package, in which case postage will be less.

USPS retail ground
will cost $30-35 (depending on whether you want signature confirmation) but that's the slowest mail possible and I don't think the post office tracks it at each office it goes through.

Yeah that's pretty much how it's been. Shipping to Vegas ended up costing me around 32$ so I am kind of amazed when people tell me it cost them 20-25$ to ship. Too bad my post office lady knows what she is doing lol

I've been reading all the posts about these designer dolls and the quality control issues people have been having. However, I've also been reading that people think that Disney has done a great job on this designer set. People were saying that the last few waves were not that good and it looked like Disney was trying to produce a set that could compare to the first fairytale couples quality. For those of you who got the sets what is your general opinion? I'm really torn between keeping my order or cancelling it. I know I should be making a decision of my own but I don't have the sets in front of me so I am relying on your impressions :)

Hi, it's been my experience that usually every set I get there's something wrong with it (I'm not picky) which sucks I feel like I'm cursed or something lol. This includes 17" and designer dolls. This time around my online order of Tremaine arrived with a broken ear/ hole in her ear, so I returned it and had to go to my DS and chose one but after seeing 2 other sets. One had a bent backdrop and the other had a stain/mark on Tremaine face. Oh! and didn't notice until I got home that her skirt was actually undone and falling off of her LOL! good thing I deboxed her. The main thing I was paying attention was that Tremaine widow peek would be centered.

Last year my Hag dress was sewn wrong giving it a look of being rip I only know because I deboxed them, I was so happy with how Snow White looked that I overlooked it. Then Mother Gothel was missing paint around her eyelid I got the set in the raffle but with DS bad lighting and the excitement I didn't notice until after I payed for them so I order another one online hoping for a better one and nope! Mother Gothel had bunch of black marks on her face :/ So I kept the first and manage to fix her eye :)

With Belle and Gaston I was most excited for so I bought 2 sets. Well I ended up with one missing some lip paint, I think the other one has a dress stained, sticker on book peeling off and one widow peek crooked. :( kept both and will see what I can do. I really like Gaston arrows holder :)

I passed on Alice & QoH's didn't like the plush body, non removing shoes, and the embroidery not going all around her dress. And I taught about just keeping Alice but don't really collect her. And Alice face mold uhm idk for me her face mold needed more cheeks than forehead. I haven't heard of too much issues with this set.

Still haven't decided on Aurora & Maleficent. I mainly want Maleficent but I think compare to the others there's very little done to her. She has no rooted hair, they could have added more detail to her horns.
Her outfit not too movie accurate as they keep skipping the neck covering or under blouse. And my main concern is all the rough edges and the fabric might run off with time and handling. I believe her dress/robe is only one piece and not very detailed/ adorned. But I would still love to have a LE 12" Maleficent. And Aurora well she should not be smiling:/. Decisions decisions...

Now for some positivity, I do believe a lot of taught went into this years sets. My favorite is Lady Tremaine beautiful beautiful outfit. Love that her and Belle have under blouses. And Lady Tremaine will be donating her boots to Mother Gothel :D. I love that with this collection they added lots of accessories.

Still upset that no Jasmine and Jafar :(

On another note, 17" Beauty and the beast dolls were so messed up at my store I can't believe it. I was so glad I got there when they opened so I took my time picking mine. But boxes were crushed, torn, Gaston mirror part fell off of one, I couldn't believe my eyes and this is what people were going to have to be forced to receive. It made me so sad.

Disney really really needs to increase their quality control this are not $10- $20 dolls. We worry so much to get the dolls and on top of it we have to rush and pick when possible a good set. Or just keep what we get since most dolls sold out.

Phew! Okay sorry for my super long comment. But it was overdue. I believe in honest mistakes but not when there's too many. Overall I'm not devastated since I deboxed them (for some reason I did with all my designer heroes vs villains) but my hearts breaks for those that don't. Good luck!

Wow thats too much flaws and yet we still buy them! Cant blame you. Its so addicting! I didnt buy any designers at all because I wanted to limit my collection with the 17 inches only unless its ariel. For this year the best for me is belle and gaston but I still decided on not getting her with all the other batb that I just purchased including gaston. Im waiting for moana now and LA batb.

Haha... Agree! I'm finally slowing down due to space and well I've reach the place where I know is an addiction lol. So I've started to really analyze my collections and shrink them. And well at times is hard but gotta let them go ^^

basically in every designer doll there would always be people who loves or hate the set. Disney cant please everybody. For cinderella they said she at least have the right hair color. Disney nailed it this time. Some complained of her painted over teeth and ripped clothes. Tremaine looks so movie accurate. I thought this was a hit with the hype over her prior to release but until now she didnt sell out. Shes still in the disney website. For belle and gaston , people were commenting how weird is it that belle seem to look lovingly at gaston. I think not because of her raised eyebrow. Besides, belle doesnt exactly hate anyone she just didnt like to be gastons gf. For me shes the best because they got her hair right. She has her widows peak like in her animation. Shes so movie accurate. Some people didnt like her dress they said its wrong. It looks fine to me. Nevertheless she sold out. It took days but still sold out. A lot seem to be a sucker for batb i guess (including me! Lol). She did better than cinderella. Next is alice. At first I was like "hey isnt it theres alice coming out next week? Why is there no people mentioning anything? No post? " i was wondering why there seem to be no interest with this doll because people seem to forget about her. Then it sold out in 3 minutes in the uk. But not in the US and mine still have lots of her including cinderella. For me, they got qoh so perfectly. She looks so much like the animation way more than alice. They made a mistake with the plate but for me it didnt matter. Now, sleeping beauty is next. People were again commenting how they didnt like auroras face going as far as saying she looks like shes pooping. Shes in trance but seem to look so weird. They didnt like her dress as well and even maleficent..they said disney didnt do her neck right once again. Im not sure if this is gonna sell but there were comments that maybe she will. For me, over all the belle and gaston looks the best. Alice could possibly raise value because they said this is alice' first designer doll and qoh looks exactly like her animation version which kinda makes this set unique and rare in a way. I wanted to buy her but im not really an alice in wonderland fan..i hated that movie as a kid although i prefer it over pinocchio lol

I only have a few now but its taking up lots of space and im already thinking of adding another 2 17 inches dolls ( moana and live action belle) lol..so now i have to practice my self control. I cant have all dolls. Its not just the limited space that im thinking about but my shrinking bank account lol

I was very happy and pleased with the design of this year's set. I wouldn't have any complaints at all if Disney would just improve their quality control.

I returned the damaged set I got in store and got a refund because the two remaining dolls also had problems --both had glue very prominent all over the faces and one also had a frayed dress and the bottom of the Queen's scepter was partially broken off. I ordered one online but I'm not feeling very hopeful about it.

I'm going to finish my set when Aurora and Maleficent come out but I've already decided that this is it for me. The only way I will buy any more designer dolls is if they start up the fairies line again. I am out of room anyway.

I got upset just reading all of these awful stories, Disney should really improve their quality control or they'll quickly lose many clients. Getting these pricey limited dolls with damaged boxes from the DS physical stores is really absurd, they KNOW that on the second market their dolls (like every collectible item out there) lose value depending on how much damaged is the box! (and trust me, this is usually a physical store problem because every time I got them from the online store I never had a problem, two weeks ago when Gaston and Beast came out in Europe they had many damaged box in my store, two of them were practically smashed??? I'm not even kidding! I even talked to the cast members and said to please do something about that and I think they lower the price of those two awfully damaged dolls). It's important we let them know that they need to improve their quality control and how they handle these dolls, it's absurd that everytime there are like two dolls left on a physical store they're usually damaged. I'll cross fingers for the last set that comes out in a few days, as I already said I'm not really in love with Aurora's gown being that poorly detailed (with nothing at all, when every other set this year have many decorations all over the dresses) but I think I'll get them anyway because that is one of my favourite Disney movies, I already got every set from this year and Maleficent is really beautiful!

After reading everybody's comments I decided not to risk 520$ of my money and the headache of having to deal with the Disney store and went ahead and had my order cancelled. I thought I would regret it but somehow I feel relieved?! I agree with most that this doll thing has got out of hand and they are releasing too many without bothering with quality control. So far this year I bought every single doll that Disney has released and that's not including all the other collectibles I bought. I think this whole doll buying becomes like a compulsion and I forgot that I should be collecting dolls that I like and not collecting just for the sake of it. If Moana looks like her classic doll I will definitely go for her but I will limit myself to characters I really like Rapunzel, Ariel, Belle and Esmeralda if they ever make her.

I completely understand about the compulsion thing and collecting everything that comes out. I've fallen into that trap too and have come to realize I can't continue that way especially with as many dolls as Disney releases.

It sounds like you did the right thing if you felt relieved after you cancelled your order. And if somewhere down the line you change your mind and decide you want any of the dolls from this line, I don't think you are going to have any trouble finding them second hand for retail or even under retail.

I don't expect I will change my mind at this point. I think I will be staying away from designer dolls altogether.

Yup, this year I used my credit cards :/ yuck on interest. I got in the rhythm of: Hurry! Hurry! buy buy, buy all LE because it will sold out. So then I started to feel the same for some reason with new releases from like Mattel or Jakks
Pacific lol

Yup, also waiting to see what Moana will look like and prob. add her to my collection but I'm not crazy for her or the movie as I did for Frozen and mainly Elsa :) So nope I will not be buying everything that has Moana on it lol

I also wanted to thank you all for your input.

Np, I'm glad you made a decision and you're at peace with it.

This hobby could be so addicting. i started of as only buying belle then followed by gaston and beast and now im thinking of purchasing moana and LA belle. I guess I have to rethink of my decision to keep collecting dolls because if I had so many then I have no time to stare at each one of them lol. Just now, I have belle, beast and gaston and its only belle that I oove to look at. I felt like I should have just purchased belle lol

It is just as addictive when you only collect classic dolls. Sadly I can't afford the LE dolls but if I could get one, it would be either Winter Belle or Teen Elsa.
First it was just Elsa. But she needs her sister Anna. Got Anna as well. Rapunzel is so pretty and... she is sitting now on my desk with Anna and Elsa and some other dolls and I'm thinking about getting Belle. (She's one of my favourites) I knew I could'nt get all princesses so I started to collect the mini dolls instead. (I have to admit Ms Amy Mebbersons Pocket Princess series has also a lot to do with my addiction to the little ones) But they are very hard to get :(

eBay charges 10% of the total amount paid by the buyer (so whatever the item sold for + shipping). So, if a doll sold for $120 + $60 shipping, ebay will take $18 off of that for fees. PayPal will take 3% of $180 for it's fees (well 2.9% + $0.35)

Yes ebay takes 10% off the total you sell for including shipping. Most sellers work those ebay fees into the price they list the doll for. If the people were charging 120 or even 180 for the dolls then charging 50 for shipping I could understand that. I'm talking about sellers charging 300 and up, even that is fine but when you try to charge $60-$80 for shipping on top of that it's a slap in the face. It cost $80 for me to ship an LE doll to France from the US.

Yeah that's pretty much how it's been. Shipping to Vegas ended up costing me around 32$ so I am kind of amazed when people tell me it cost them 20-25$ to ship. Too bad my post office lady knows what she is doing lol

Ebay used to crack down on sellers overcharging for shipping, it's still in their ebay seller guidelines to not overcharge buyers for shipping, but they did away with the form to report overcharging, and went to the star method, if a seller gets enough low stars for shipping (enough people complain) they could suspend a sellers account, but you would have to most likely get hundreds of people giving a poor shipping rating.
If you ship and print through ebay, they discount the shipping you can ship priority with tracking and insurance on an LE doll for $25, I just bought an LE belle and that is what it cost to ship and that is all the seller had to pay, said so right on the lable. I also sold LE dolls in the past and it cost around $25 to $30 to ship, not ground but USPS priority.

My original point was you just have to be careful and look at the shipping charge you don't want to get stuck with a $60 shipping charge on a Doll you thought you bought for $300.

My Alice and Queen came, the Queens eyelashes are messed up, and Alice has a large snag on her dress -_- Quality control has become terrible on these Designer dolls.

Guys is anyone going to Disney Store in London for Maleficent&Aurora release tomorrow? I work in the morning and can't make it. You think it will sell out?

In the US I wouldn't expect it to sell out but in the UK it looks as though it sells pretty quickly due to the low numbers they get. Can't you try online instead just to be on the safe side?

Unfortunately I couldn't be there to get the set myself because I had some classes this morning and my partner didn't noticed it (I don't know how LOL, but it's not his fault).

I'm returning the doll to the Disney Store, I will switch for another set if I find one that is decent enough but my partner already looked at three other and they all had problems like scratches and other things. That's it guys, this is my last DFDC set, the quality control is disgusting! Never again I'll pay 120€ for something that needs to be fixed or can't even be fixed, I had enough (on four sets of dolls that I bought three of them got at least something that is not right, like WTF). I'm really mad right now :banghead:

EDIT: I switched for a better set, I noticed that every set had the same problem! I took the one that was barely noticeable, the one I had was practically glued off (I don't know the right word for it xD anyway you can see it in the photos I posted, pay attention when you get the set from the physical store!!)
