Disney Store Limited Edition 17" Dolls Discussion - 2016
Just noticed there are a lot of Winter Belle up for sale. Considering people were so disappointed for not getting her I would have expected the ones who were lucky enough to get her to hold on to her. Either everybody is having money problems at the same time or a lot more people bought her with the intent to resell her. I noticed on some of the Facebook pages that people wrote these long rants about scalpers and then the same people turn around and are trying to sell those dolls at scalper prices. Am I missing something?

I noticed this too...and I thought winter belle is a sought after doll..they dont want her anymore I think ...sigh..but I love mine and there was a minute I wanted to trade her for ariel together with beast and gaston but I just cant...shes my first LE doll and I wanna believe she will be worth much in the future

LE Moana’s face and body look too masculine to me. The 11-inch dolls are prettier and more accurate.

probably you are just used to those skinny dolls...if you noticed all the other dolls have jointed arms and it was no big deal but when it was moana, only bigger, people make an issue out of it. I hope this moana doll looks better in person like the other dolls.

I hope it works!:) The hair dryer idea sounds like it should at least help.

I'm a long-rant-about-scalpers person and I solemnly swear I haven't resold a single toy since about 10 years ago when I decided to half my g1 MLP collection (which, although it sold at a good price, I somewhat regret now, as I'm getting back into g1 MLP somewhat). Ah collector issues!

Though unexpected emergencies happen, they are rare, so if there are a BUNCH of a recently-released dolls on the secondary market, there are a BUNCH of scalpers behind nearly all of them, IMO. As for why they'd complain and then turn around and do the exact same thing, sounds to me like people who want it both ways. When they want a doll they don't want scalpers ruining it for them. When they want more money (maybe for their doll collection) they're scalping with no qualms... and probably would deny to others and maybe even themselves that that's what they are doing.

I'm pretty sure you meant to quote Pxv703 instead of me, but I shall reply anyway.:)

The scalper issue makes me angry, and yet I'm scratching my head as to why we all put up with it. Surely the scalper people would drop the prices if everyone refused to pay their crazy prices *coughcough*$2000 SQ Elsa*coughcough*, right? I don't know. Maybe not? I feel like it's okay to make a LITTLE bit of money once something sells out (say, sell $100 item for $140 ish. Even $200, maybe), but when people start charging 3,4, 10 times the original price, it's horrifying. Now if someone posts their doll on eBay, starts the bidding at a fair price, and then bidders make it go way up, I don't think that's the seller's fault, but I usually see insane "Buy It Now" listings on ebay, so that doesn't really apply 99% of the time.

Abstaining from buying at higher prices would absolutely bring them down (though you'll always have That Guy who lists everything for $4k and just lets it sit there for years). You see it all the time with regular market demand for less popular items eg. LA Alice. No one buys past a certain price and resellers are forced to stay low. There's a catch though! We're just as responsible for setting the prices as the resellers because we do decide X Doll means Y amount of money to us, and bid/buy accordingly. A lot of those high numbers are us, the collectors, competing against each other - but instead of who can hit the hardest or get away the fastest, it's who can write the bigger cheque! So even if we could reach out to every person who ever saw these dolls and get them to promise not to buy anything for a few months - probably longer - to force the prices down... when we start buying again supply/demand will kick in and the cycle would start all over again. A reasonably priced Snow White is beautiful dream though *sigh*

Sometimes you cannot resist going over your budget for a doll just so you finally get the doll of your dreams. I just hate it when sellers go beyond the dolls actual market value. Some sellers could be greedy and its kinda annoying. I met a seller who told me she would accept 1300 for her doll and i declined. Then when I changed my mind and offered 1200 which is already much that I could spend for a doll she wanted 1250 plus another doll of mine. I offered trade initially so she knows what dolls do I have. I was so upset because why would you increase your asking price just because I seem to want that doll too much? And to top it off, I heard from one of the people who inquired on her ad that she said she will only take 1200. Good thing, i was able to find another seller and bought the little mermaid set for a good value. She was my grail actually and I was only tempted by the first doll because of her worth. So yeah buy the doll because you love the character and not because of the value.

It seems that a lot of the Platinum Sets went up on eBay too.

I think winter belle will settle around $200-300. I didn't get a chance to get her due to lack of funds and, well, college books take priority over dolls!

winter belle is one doll I predict will increase it value in time..after a couple of years...shes one doll that had few complaints before release. the only issue with her is the Disney website glitch during her release. I noticed though that a lot seem to resell her in the fb groups and so is ariel. why is that?

YAAAAAY Congrats, that sounds like a very lucky find!

Thank you!! I'm so happy! Here in Italy almost nobody succeded to get Winter Belle because the site went up too late :( I'm so happy to at least own this version of her!

OMG the LE 1200 Snow White Shanghai IS EVERYTHING, I want her so bad!

I think she'll increase over time as well but will stay around $200-300 for at least a year or so.

Does anyone know what size Snow is? She looks like the 17", but there's a lot of space between her head and the top of the box like a 12"?

You won't be disappointed! She's beyond exquisite in person, even my macho dad was impressed, definitely a good consolation prize ;)

I've heard 17" because you need to look at the hands.

I would check eBay often to see if you can get the doll!

Is there ANY way to get this Snow White? Any website trickery I am ignorant of? any forum? Any way to order from China? Anything?

I saw her on Facebook yesterday and about died. She's so gorgeous! Why is there no money tree in my backyard?
