Both are gorgeous!! So then there would be another release for Minnie? Wow that's 3 dolls of her in one year!

Hopefully they will be making some compact mirrors as well! What I like the most about this upcoming Designer line-up are the journals...

They have an Ariel one at least, I saw it on FB, let me see if I can find the picture again!

Ariel and Triton: This has honestly got to be the worst Ariel doll I've ever seen. I don't think she looks anything like the character, the expression and pose is very awkward, and her outfit is so tacky and almost dirty looking. She's also extremely disproportionate because they used Alice's body for her for some reason, and that only makes it worse. I don't like that the artwork features Flounder and Sebastian with her and they're not in the set...that's the only set that has characters in the art that aren't in the set itself. It also doesn't have the Prince Eric statue in it, which was something a lot of people were hoping to see. With the bigger display boxes it would have made perfect sense to have the statue in there, but nope. Triton looks fine I guess, but I think Ariel's tacky look and awkward face and pose ruin the whole set for me. Like, he's nice, but I'm not gonna buy the whole set just for him.

Not to detract from your rant (ha ha), but Sebastian and Flounder ARE in this set. If you see full-frame photos (not cropped images or close-ups), the two of them are sitting on the bottom of the box near Triton. That doesn't negate the rest of your points, but I thought I'd reassure you on one count! :D

Also, as far as Ariel having Alice's body: I'm not "defending" the choice, but I think Disney took this route in order to make her look small next to Triton. Because Ariel really is tiny compared to her father, and Triton has to fit in that box. Ha. So they made him as large as they could, but they purposely made her smaller to emphasize the contrast. That's my guess.

Am I the only one who's disappointed with these?

First, the good. I think the Mulan and Pinocchio sets are just beautiful. To me they're the only really good/magical sets out of this whole lot. Also, bigger display boxes is a huge plus, I'm glad they did this because 1) now everything doesn't look so squished and 2) they can take advantage of the extra space to display more little accessories (my favorite thing about the Pinocchio set!) and have nicer, visible backgrounds. And now, to the bad...

Moana: This is LITERALLY just a smaller version of the first limited edition doll with some plastic figurines thrown around it. I don't know why they're still trying to push Moana on us, her first limited edition dolls sold terribly and are still widely available, and her normal merch isn't even that big of a seller. There's really nothing else to say about this one.

Cruella: I like the idea of this set, I really do. I think the figurines of the Dalmatians are adorable and really accurate to how they look in the movie, but Cruella herself just looks awful. Come on guys...look at that face. It just looks so off. And why is her skin so white that it's the same color as the fur on her jacket? I've seen people on Instagram compare her face to Micheal Jackson and honesty I can kind of see it. Not only her face, but the arms are way too big and don't look right. Basically the main problem with this is that Cruella is very stylized and her design really doesn't translate that well into a doll. I get that they can't make her as skinny as she should be because it would just be impractical, but yeah. Not good.

Rapunzel and Flynn: It's a cute set, it's fine. Not something I would pay $130 dollars for, because they look very simple and I'm not impressed with Rapunzel's dress, but still cute. I'm glad they actually included the chair, and Flynn tied up in it makes for a good little scene. I'd say this one is easily better than Little Mermaid, Moana and 101 Dalmatians, but nowhere near as good as Pinocchio or Mulan.

Robin Hood and Maid Marian: Kind of feel the same way as I do with the Tangled set...it's fine. Nothing really bad about it but nothing spectacular either. I'm also still upset that this was the "uncommon" couple that got picked when I and many others have been wanting couples like Hercules and Megara, Esmeralda and Phoebus and Tarzan and Jane.

Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl look weird as dolls to me, and their outfits are very simple and not "designer" at all...but yeah. Good for Incredibles collectors I guess?

So while I am disappointed with this line overall, the Pinocchio and Mulan sets are stunning and I really do love them. It's a shame they're D23 exclusive (and more limited in Mulan's case) because it means that I and many others who weren't able to go to D23 will not be able to get them...for their normal price, anyway. I do hope that we get the merchandise to go along with these because regardless of how I feel about the dolls, that artwork is gorgeous. I saw someone mention they saw mugs in those pictures up top but I don't see any?

EDIT: It's been pointed out to me that Blue Fairy has the heroes vs villains Cinderella head. That's kind of distracting.

You said everything I wanted to say :) All in all, I like the sets but I won't be able to buy any of them but I'm fine with that. The artwork is really beautiful.

ooooh.... goodness gracious Ariel and king Titon look sooo awkward in that box.

EDIT:
they could have had ariel sitting down or crouching, it would have looked less awkward and she would have seemed smaller that Triton without having to body swap.

Oh, thank goodness, I don't want all the dolls this year. Just got a new kitten this week, and my wallet's not gonna be able to handle all the dolls this year.

Definitely interested in Tangled and Moana. Not sure about Little Mermaid (I don't know, Ariel doesn't bother me as much as Triton does - it seriously looks like they just stuck a white wig on a younger male doll). Robin Hood set looks interesting, I'll pass on Cruella, and I know I won't even bother trying for the D23 exclusives.

Not happy with Ariel&Triton set. Missed opportunity...they look nothing like characters from the movie and those tails!? C'mon! Barbies in '90s had better lookinf ones. Cruella is a must and Blue fairy is good. Rest is an easy pass...

I am not overly impressed with the sets but I do like Moana and Cruella. I may try for those as well as the robin hood set. If I don't get them no big deal as I'm going to Disney World in October and need to,save money. I'm getting the evil queen and snow dolls in August and plan to get a pug puppy soon so on second thought i will pass on these designer sets this year

The art is so beautiful for these! The only set Im super excited for is the Cruella set. Im 100% passing on Moana and Robinhood. Rapunzel and Ariel sets Look nice but the two princess' faces look odd and plain to me. I will get Ariels set because Of Triton though and still thinking about Rapunzel.

No. Me too. And I was already somewhat uninterested to start, because they didn't give us (nor allow any) leaks for so long that I frankly lost some enthusiasm in the too-long silence, and I guess I was hoping that something about the 12" or 17" LEs would excite me right away but my first reaction is still muted. It's funny because I HAD to have ALL of Heroes Vs. Villains and they still have pride-of-place front and center in my living room, I love them, so I don't know why I don't instantly love these. Maybe I'll warm up to them, not sure. Right now I'm not even sure why I feel (more like Don't Feel) the way I do so I just don't have much to say (that's weird for me too, lol!)

Honestly and not bashing for those who like robinhood, but a hunchback, hercules or tarzan set would have been pure fire!

poisoivyprince That would have interested me more, and I think fit the concept better. I thought these doll sets were supposed to be mainly two human(oid) main characters, with maybe some animal friend accessories. Not that I don't love foxes... maybe if they had furred or at least flocked RH & MM... solid fur/hair is always kind of a downer for me. I would also have been more intrigued with multi-media, textured kakamora, and furred or flocked dalmations, especially as those sets contain only one doll but I've heard that they aren't priced the same as previous one-doll sets (e.g, fairies, like Fawn and her rabbit), but the full two-doll set price, something I'm having difficulty understanding.
