Disney Store Limited Edition 17" Dolls Discussion - 2017
I have interest in the D23 Snow White. Should I splurge now or wait for her price to maybe drop?

Historically, the prices drop once the frenzy is over, and 1023 is a decent number. I think it depends on your financial state and if paying more is worth it to you personally. Also, now there a quite a few Snow White dolls, and I think more people would spend a bit more to get the original (e.g. Elsa). I want the doll, but I'm willing to wait and I'm fine with it taking several months for a decent price (although I think they'll drop much quicker). I bought the Shanghai Snow White when she came out so I could have a Snow White and I have no regrets, but I did overpay and she's still pretty obtainable.

Prices aren't soaring like they once did. I was even able to get a red Jasmine, COA and NRB, for $135 a couple of months ago. The box is a little bit damaged on the side, but even deboxed she's worth much more to me. I just really wanted the doll but wasn't willing pay nearly what she was going for and lucked out one night. (She was $900+ after D23 and evened out around $700, but I've seen for $500, to give you an idea) I've overpaid for some of the dolls, but they made me happy when I got them, and didn't get in the way of mortgage payments, so no regrets. I love coronation Elsa and paid about $400 over a year ago and have seen her go for less than $200 now. Still, no regrets. She was worth to me what I paid. I think you have to just weigh your situation. How patient are you? How frugal are you? Get it now if it'll make you happy, you can afford it and you're not going to be upset seeing for $100 or so less. Sometimes it's worth paying more, especially if you aren't wanting to put in the time on Ebay stalking and waiting.

Good luck, whatever you decide.

BTW... I'm a long time doll collector and have spent an embarrassing amount of time on Ebay watching and waiting for deals over the years. :)

Thanks for your response! I think I'm going to wait for her price to drop some more.

Which one do you want? Snow or Old Hag? For both, you can look at paying around $900-ish, shipped, if you want to get it done at one time. For Snow, she seems to be holding steady at around $425-450 (at least, since Sunday when I started looking)

You got slave Jasmine for $135 bucks! :eek2: You lucky lucky person!!! You should play the lotto.

Yeah, I know how lucky I am. :) I couldn't sleep after I bought her I was so excited. I really never thought I'd own her, but it happens. There are several times my late night Ebay doll stalking has really paid off, but this one did top them all. I had been staying off of Ebay to try to be good and curb my doll habit as I took a much lower paying job this year to try to get my health on track, but one night right before going to bed I got the idea in my head to do a quick search. There she was with a Buy It Now price. I got her shipped for $138.01 to be exact. I really couldn't believe my luck. I did a quick check on the seller and snapped her up. I kind of figured I wouldn't actually get her, like it was a scam, or she'd be a fake, or the seller would get a clue and back out. Nope, other than a dent in the box on the side (which doesn't bother me one bit), she's wonderful. Still sewn into the box with COA and everything. The seller had no idea what he had and probably somehow picked her up at a secondhand shop or something, is my guess. He sells mostly weird old electronic bits and pieces. Anyway, if the frenzy hadn't died down, I doubt I would have been quick enough to get her with all the competition. But it was just dumb luck I happened to check before going to bed and no one else grabbed her before me. It had literally been months since I did an Ebay search.

I have no idea what possessed me to it that night. Still, things like that happen all the time. I heard stories from other doll forums where people paid less than $200 for dolls worth well over $2000. Disney collectibles will always have a market, but people lose interest and it's easier to get a good deal with less competition. D23 has brought more interest again, but a couple of months ago, prices were fairly down. When I got my red Jasmine, I saw SQ Elsa selling for around $900. There are sellers asking a lot, but those dolls don't sell quickly, if at all, as there aren't that many people who want them and can afford that. They seem to always be listed. You get a motivated seller (or an Ebay agent) and you can get reasonable prices if you wait and sometimes even really luck out on occasion like I did.

Omg too much snow white! Lol im thinking of only purchasing the evil queen or the prince if they look better in person. Snow white looks lovely but i have too much snow white as it is. Im worried the price of the original snow will drop and shanghai snow be basically worthless with all those snow white released! Ugh

LOL. I'm just trying to figure out whether I should pull the trigger now while it's under $500 (D23) or wait to see if it goes down cheaper.

Id say depends on how much you love her. I got the set for 1000 and while I see some going for less it doesn't bother me, Im just glad to have them and esp since its d23 exclusives. I just think the way I travel and for a hotel ect ect it would have cost me several $1,000s more if I had gone. plus I didnt have to sleep on the ground in a line. These dolls always seem to fluctuate though so who knows how low theyll go or high later. :)

Yup! I have an offer in for $425 shipped so I think I'm going to get her now, especially since I have 8% ebay bucks going on right now!

Congratulations on Red Jasmine, what a find. Anyone know if either of the 17 inch Moana dolls will go on sale if at all? Am hedging my bet they will or at least one before I pull the trigger. Or should I just not wait for a sale/drop in price and buy one now? Waited and played chicken with the LA Alice till she did go on sale and I haven't been disappointed.

Snow ids more than likely going to sell out so id say go for her :)

Found these on a Facebook doll group. Pictures look like they are from Radio Disney Club (Snow White Platinum Doll Set, expected price USD $750; GBP 500):

Not sure if I like how they put them all together as one image, but I guess it will have to do
