Many people make New Year's Resolutions to cut back on this or that, be good, etc. But I decided to start the year by allowing myself a (tiny, tiny) side collection, ha.

For the past couple years, every time Disney releases a new Snow White doll of any "caliber," I'm filled with overwhelming Wants. Lately, there have been more attractive pins of Snow as well. But I don't collect Snow White! She's never been my favorite princess (that was always historically Aurora, although I really like Rapunzel, too--who doesn't? Ha). And yet ...

I finally decided to just give in and collect a few select Snow items, including some (only a few, I swear!) pins. I'm justifying it because upon reflection, I realized that Snow White does have significance in my family. For one thing, I vividly remember my mom taking me and my cousins to see the movie in theaters when it was rereleased in 1986 or 1987. (I really think it was '86 but logic says it was for the anniversary year of '87.) And while my dad has not been to WDW since I was 10, he still refers to the Witch popping out and croaking, "Want an apple, dearie?" on the late, great Snow White's Scary Adventures ride. Most recently, BF and I spent a magical evening in Manhattan that included a visit to the fabulous Saks Holiday Windows, which this year featured Snow White.

So ... I'm falling off the wagon (or in this case, perhaps, the apple-cart) and adding Snow White to my Wants list.

Who else is starting something new this year? Any changes in or additions to collections?

And for those of you cutting back, please note: I'm here to enable you. If that means supporting you while you put mortgage, family, and sanity above pins--well, if you're on a diet, I'm the one who will yell, "PUT DOWN THAT DONUT; IT'S NOT WORTH THE CALORIES!!!" if that's what you need. Although, let's be real, it's more fun to encourage dreams! Ha.

I would not buy a pin with that face. :p

Did you get the Snow White Saks doll?! :)

Yup. She was going to be my "one exception," the Snow doll that would satisfy my Wants. (That lasted almost two months--impressive for me!) I spent an entire lunch break calling random Saks stores (since I knew NYC was sold out) and on the sixth try, the store in Columbus, Ohio, quite literally found one while I was on the phone. IDK if it had been on hold or what, but the salesperson told me to wait a sec, then came back and said, "My boss just asked what you are looking for and when I told her, she said, 'I have ONE!' So it's yours!!!" I took that as a sign that I should have at least ONE Snow doll.

XD Love Vanessa Bayer as Snow!

Have fun and good luck with your new collection! I'm going to try and be good and not only not start a new collection, but actually pare down or get rid of some of my current ones.

I'm trying to do this myself! Last year I gave in and started a Princess Leia collection, because I was so sad about Carrie Fisher's passing. I don't think I'm going to give in to any new collections this year tho! I'm going to do my best to stick to Robin Hood, Zootopia, Bolt, Lion King, and some Fox and the Hound (mostly after Tod or pins he features prominently in). I'm gonna break out all my board and books and see what I have the heart to purge this year, plus that gives me new traders to try to meet my goals for those collections!

I did the same with starting a new collection o_O lol I fell in love with the Toys for Tots Lady pin and WDI Lady Christmas pin so I decided to start a collection of Lady as a puppy only :p

Those are super-cute pins, so I'm not surprised they sucked you in! That's a great collection--and you can keep it somewhat small if you want (or go nuts later on, ha ha ha).

ssst lol trying to keep it small for now I already went nuts with Tangled and Frozen ha ha ha :p
I can't wait to see your upcoming SW collection :) If you see any from DLP I can always try to get my hands on them

Hooray for new Snow White collectors!! :D Happy to help with some of your ISO if I can, I have many Snow White pins that didn't fit in my collection and would love to trade/send those to a good home.

Now that I have relatively few Snow White pieces left to track down, I'm starting a new side collection for Rey this year. Only focusing on pins from The Last Jedi, though, for reasons I won't get into due to spoilers about the movie. (After seeing it 11 times, I figured I should do something about it.)

I tried (unsuccessfully) to start a Maleficent collection - the ones that I really like are ssssoooooo hard to find and expensive. I believe I finally talked myself out of trying for her (I still have some on my Wants). Lately, I find myself very interested in Evil Queen pins - there are some beautiful ones out there. Not sure if I will actually start collecting her but I am thinking about it.

Also thinking of starting a headless horseman collection....because I can't go for the easy ones...

You're my Snow White collecting idol, haha. I will totally take you up on that offer if I survive the Heroines release. I want Alice, but I doubt I'll be able to get her, let alone her and Snow. #dreambigprincess I saw one FB post that said "Alice $300, all others $200" and pulled a muscle from laughing insanely. (I think it was laughter. It might have been hysterical jibbering.)

Yay! I ended up getting two via calling, one via website, selling two at cost to two local forum members who had troubles with their orders being cancelled. Saved me the trouble of going to the nearest Saks and returning it!

I started a new collection in December with my husband. Since we had an UP touches in our wedding he wanted some UP pins. Though it is just Carl and Ellie togther, the house with balloons and the chairs only. No other characters from the movie.

I am thinking of getting rid of my sleeping beauty collection... but not sure what I want to do yet.

I have a neurotic need to eventually become a completist with every collection I start, so I don't think I could ever commit to embarking on a collection as ambitious as Snow White. I just typed her name into PinPics and got 3,394 results. You are a braver woman than I. Godspeed, my friend.

Last year I made a promise to myself to ONLY collect Megara and Esmeralda, because I need to save $$ for tuition/my upcoming move, and this hobby ain't cheap. Plus those are my faves anyway, so anything else I collect would just be second fiddle to them. However I've made some good progress lately, and I'm probably going to be at a standstill soon when I'm down to mostly the rare/expensive ones that you just kind of have to wait for. Plus, they're super underrated and shortchanged characters and there's hardly ever any new releases for them. Last year was the 20th anniversary of Hercules, and we still only got a whopping 3 Meg pins (and they all had Phil on them too, which automatically makes them less appealing to me.) There was, shockingly, a new Esmeralda pin at LIAA last summer, but the last pin of her before that was 2 years ago. So yeah, it would be nice to collect something that actually, you know... has pins. I've been flirting with the idea of starting something new this year, but I'm not super enthusiastic about anything yet. I may post my ideas later so I can get opinions.

I realized sometime last year that I had a collection of Cinderella pins that somehow snuck into my pin bag. So I decided instead of fighting it I would give it limitations, I try to only get pretty Cinderella pins what she’s wearing her blue dress.

Funny you mention snow white because I was going through my pins and I was rearranging some of my extra oddball pins and I realized how did I get a tiny snow white collection in my tiny I mean tiny there’s only like maybe 4-5 pins but how did this happen? Of course it does include a couple of fantasy pins that I have of her.

Well, if you're wanting some company in the New Collections department, I noticed quite suddenly that a lot of Sorcerer Mickey pins appeared in my wants lit. I have zero idea how it happened...

Ohhh, and you've been mocking me? Ha ha. At least I've publicly struggled and clearly tried to resist. You? You caved like a house of cards in a bomb-cyclone. :p

This struggle, I do understand. But my very firm No Ugly Faces Rule prevents me from even wanting to be a completist on any collection, thankfully. There are lots of Snow pins, yes, but I honestly think I can keep myself to a very small collection if I just set narrow margins on it. (There are plenty of ugly faces to be passed over! Ha ha.) Right now, I'm still in the early stages of figuring out what's out there, because I've seen pins in passing but I'm not familiar with the full Snow White universe of pins--so I need to consider which ones I would really, really like to have. And not get sucked in by Duplicate Poses (another trap)! Mostly I think I need to study @AshleyV 's collection, because she has tons of gorgeous pins ... I just have to balance that with NOT copying and pasting her entire PinPics collection into my Wants. ;) She has the potential to be both my inspiration and my downfall on keeping this collection tiny!
