I have gotten a trade request and am not sure what's up. Usually when I get a message I check to see what other trades could be made at the same time. I get that some have turned off trading, but I can find nothing on the trader at all. He/she is not there when you put in the name. As if they were never there. Is some sort of new magic or a pin God looking down and changing the outcome of civilization? I do not know.
;)

Without knowing exactly what you encountered, 2 thoughts:

(1) Did you correctly input the person's user name? Sorry, I'm not suggesting you'd make that kind of mistake--but for example, my PinPics user name is the same as my name here: Addicted to Alice Pins. I've had people say they can't find me on PinPics, and it turns out the problem is that they didn't use the spaces. Running the words together will not work, and neither will mistakenly using underscores between the words (Addicted_to_Alice_Pins).

(2) How long ago did they send the request? Could they have closed/deleted their account in the interim? I ask this purely because the other day I received a really random Trade Request from someone who told me that I had some pins he/she wanted and he/she had a pin set I might be interested in. The weird part is, when I Compared Pins, we didn't have any matches either way--they hadn't listed any of my (scant, I might add) traders as their wants, and I have zero interest in what they offered (it's not on my Wants, nor does it really fit my collection). I realize the person could have been just "taking a chance" but it was odd to me. It made me wonder if some people are just "phishing" on PinPics in the hopes of scamming real traders/collectors. In which case, if enough people got suspicious, he/she might be inclined to "disappear."

However, all that being said (sorry, ha ha), maybe there is just a glitch in the universe. PinPics hasn't always been the most reliable with technology. I know that's largely changed, but things happen!

I did a copy and paste, and when that didn't work, I typed it in with my own two fingers:). I know sometimes when I copy and paste I will include an empty space before or after which doesn't help with a search. The request came in last night and I checked it again this morning. Should I post the name here to see if anyone has delt with them before? Is that DPF legal?

Wow, yes, overnight is pretty quick for a disappearance! Ha. (I just know some folks don't check PinPics for days/weeks, that's why I asked.) I do believe it is perfectly legal to ask if anyone has experience with PinPics trader XYZ. There's a thread where people can recommend "good" traders, but I would think just asking for input would be permissible. Folks can always PM you if something they have to say in response might be slanderous.

They disappeared in a night?! Sounds strange, *is person addicted to Alice is talking about* I rarely check my PinPics.. It takes me so long I decided to turn my trade assist off, that and I was getting super lopsided trade requests through PinPics... I would check the PinPics trader thread to see if they are on there, you can post their username there, nothing against the rules on that

But I still say:
If it smells like low tide... it must be fishy!!!

The trader goes by - short.pin.collector Does anyone know them? Please take down if this is not legal.

Hate to say it, but I think you are just entering their ID incorrectly. I just checked for them and they are definitely there and have 7 pages of traders listed.

Here's what's weirder...I just searched and COULDN'T find them. I even just searched for a partial name and nothing came up. I wonder if Pinpics has multiple servers, and for some reason they are out of sync. So if you are lucky to land on the right server the person shows up.

AJK, when you go to their page. If you look in the URL there should be a uid= What number comes up? I'm wondering if bcol and I could find them by modifying the URL. Or if that will give us a "not found" error.

I'm kind of glad others are having the same problem (kind of). But why can ajk see it? Is there some sort of secret society?

@Ajk , is "short pin collector" your secret alter ego? Is that why only "you" can see it? Ha ha.
LOL. You found me out! ;)
To be clear, when I want to find someone, usually I want to see their traders or wants. So all I did in this case was go to the Compare Members under My Pins Profile and set both fields with their name and the traders radio button clicked in both cases.

Now, interestingly enough, although I can see all their wants/traders that way, when i try to trade any of them, they don't come up on the list of folks available to trade with. So yeah, maybe my..err, I mean their...account is locked in some manner.

I tried searching, the user showed up, but when I clicked it, it's says this:
