So I just got done taking down all of my collections, out of boxes and out of frames. Gathered, sorted, photographed and cataloged on PinPics.

I am selling all of my collections and it is a super emotionally draining task. I need some help pricing them for sale because there are just so many and I am emotionally attached to so many of them I can't get an objective view on pricing.

If someone would be willing to take the time to help me price them, I can't pay them in money, but I would be happy to pay them in the form of pins if I have any pins they are interested of a reasonable price. I am selling it all so I can afford my pet cat's surgery so I'm trying to get the most money out of them... but also want them to sell fast.

Here are the photos of my pins in real life, followed by my pinpics catalogue. All of the pins I am selling are traders under my pinpics account "icarusinflames"

(Hoping to sell these pins as a set with the lanyard, keychain, locking pin backs and key)

I can't help with pricing, but when you get it figured out, I'd definitely be interested in a few of the gaston pins.

Just as an fyi, you have a lot of pins there that are common lanyard traders, many of which have been faked, so you're looking at best at $1-$2 each for those (hidden mickeys, mystery set pins, etc.). You have a couple of nice LE's, too, which will hold some value, but just didn't want to get your hopes up that you're going to get a lot as about half the pins on there are lanyard traders (and again, many have been faked so folks may be wary of paying more for them even if they are legit).

I understand, I know that my pins aren't all super great, and some aren't worth selling obviously for $1, but I wanted to get them all together just in case. Thanks for the heads up, I appreciate it.

Yeah, you will want to have some good front and back pics of any hidden Mickeys or common OE trader pins. I'll mark these in the spreadsheet we give you at the end as well. A lot of those kinds of pins you can lump together into lots and sell them as traders to people for ~2$ a pin.

I'd also be willing to help if @Tokaji needs any assistance! I like to schedule regular study breaks and these would be a perfect activity.

Also, if you can: Take a photo of the scenes within the PODMs - those can affect the value greatly.

Also also, if you're looking for a quick way to get rid of a collection: I would suggest hosting a game with some of your more valuable pins as the grand prizes, and lots of the "eBay says this costs fewer doll hairs" pins. It's a great way to ensure the sale of a bundle of pins in a short amount of time, and you can base the cost of the game over exactly what amount of funds you need to raise (plus I'm sure that people would be willing to play if it's for a good cause too)

Hosting a game sounds like a great idea! I have never participated in a game but I think I understand the premise of it, I will have to take a closer look at some of the ones going on now.

I have a fundraiser with all the information about raising money for my cat's surgery, but think I just don't want to bore people away I suppose? I'm so nervous because I've never sold pins like this before, I was pretty much all trading and pick ups, so I'm nervous of people think I'm ripping them off... and I'm also cautious of being taken advantage of..? Haha, it's so weird that Ive been pin trading all this time but be a total newbie to so much of it.

Your thoughts are totally rational!! As someone who's been ripped off several times - I hate the experience and don't want it to happen to others. But at the same time there is a reasonable price to everything, and I think that you have a great person on the books right now. As to organizing a game if you want, keep in mind that it doesn't have to be one as large as the ones currently going on. Pick a goal amount, pick a number of slots, and pick a series of pins to fill those slots whose valued total, divided by x number of slots, will equal your goal amount. It's tough, as most of us know (I'm actually pricing out my own collection in the event I am not able to get a job or scholarship after graduation too,) but thankfully in this community there are as many good people who are willing to help as there are sharks willing to er... shark. We've got your back.

I'm saddened to hear of your cat and your need to sell your collection, as well as purplemandms' "prepping" hers just in case.

FWIW, I think the game suggestion is a great one and would help ensure you get exactly the amount of money you need since you have control over it, but you will likely need to put up most of your best pins to attract folks/$s. Plus it can take some time for the game to fill up depending on how many slots you have. Another alternative to consider is a straight forward sale but designed like arendelle's recent "flash sale". To me, it seems like she had the perfect model for a fund raising sale. She bunched her "lesser" pins into grab bags and sold a ton of them that way, while listing other pins individually. She priced them well and also gave discounts for folks who spent more money. It drew a ton of attention and she seemed to sell/raise a lot in a short period of time.

Whatever method you choose, I'll be keeping an eye out. Good luck on all fronts!
