So I've noticed a lot of people do pin collecting under themes. I'm trying to find a theme that I would like to collect but I'm just not sure! So I figured, why not ask what themes you all collect?

Wendy from Peter Pan, Alice, Mulan and Elsa are my main collections. I will probably start a new collection because the rate at which I am getting new traders is higher than the rate I am finding my wants. Likely will start collecting Blue Fairy and Jim Hawkins pins because I have 5 pins of them that could easily grow into larger collections, and they also won't break my bank because they're not very popular characters.

I collect Ariel and I tend to be very fussy and prefer no words or dates and generally prefer her in her Mermaid form. How is that for specific? ;-)

Wow, I didn't realize your scope was so narrow, Lucy. You're getting picky! :p

You are a collector after my own heart. I get super specific too: Mulan (the character herself, no crossovers with characters from other movies, no Small World); Robin Hood and Maid Marian (only as a couple); and Queen Elinor from Brave (only as a human). If I didn't keep myself focused, I would go nuts. :D

That's okay Kim...

I started off with Belle, Maleficent, and Dumbo. Now, I mainly focus on Dumbo and PODMs.. a little bit of Maleficent, non-yellow dress Belle, some pigs (Pua, Hamm), elephants, and Pooh/ Piglet, and Mickey/ Minnie as a couple.

For some reason I feel like villains are calling to me specifically Maleficent and Ursula.
I feel like I enjoy more "obscure" Disney, like Pinocchio and Hunback of Notre Dame. But I don't see a lot of those floating around. So maybe I'll focus more on villains for now *insert maniacal laughter here*

Good choices!

My main collections are The Aristocats/Marie, Daisy Duck, It's A Small World and Ratatouille but I also have side collections for Ariel, Tink, Piglet and Haunted Mansion!
OMG There was a Small World pin I saw at Disney last week and was like OMG THIS IS SO CUTE. and then couldn't find it at any of the carts ever again. *shakes fist at self*

I go for anything eye catching. Favorites of course, dumbo, eeyore, villains, but I also like stained glass looking pins and gold tones. An ugly rare, old pin does nothing for me (thankfully for the old wallet)

I thought I was going to collect cats. Until I realized how many cats there are. Figaro, Cheshire, Si and Am, Aristocats, Bolt cat, etc etc.

I focus on the Aristocats, Cheshire, and Si and Am. But then I have all of these other collections I like too. :)

Mine have varied throughout the years. Right now I would say my primary active collections are Villains, Rides and Attractions, Alice in Wonderland, Nightmare Before Christmas, and Moana. Those may seem really broad with a ton of pins, and they are, but I narrow it down a bit by focusing on WDW, DL, DS, WDI, and DSSH releases (no box lunch excitement for me!, No trying to figure out how to get Shanghai pins, etc), for the Villains and Parks I focus more on sets than individual pins, and for all of them I want the characters to look like how they did in the movie (no cuties, etc) and also stay away from words (no Moana Father's Day for me).

I do have to admit I also have a "catches my eye" aspect which leads to a lot of smaller collections as well such as PTDs, and also sets, especially mystery ones such as the Pixar mystery puzzles, the movie scenes, Genie forms, etc.

Oh, and I only collect LE and LR (and those only if they have LE chasers). No OE.

Oh, and all that goes out the window for Hidden Mickeys. I collect about 90% of the sets they put out. But mostly only in the parks.

Main collections are Nightmare Before Christmas(Obviously), Roger/Jessica rabbit, Figment, Beauty and the Beast, Alice, Attractions experienced, Tron and Mickey. But enjoy it when lesser popular characters/films are available.:D

I started with hidden Mickeys (HM) with a focus on Mickey, but now I collect entire sets of HMs (I have to find them extremely unattractive to exclude from my HM collection). These are mostly recently released HMs. The older ones are so tough because of the fake issue, but I have added some of these too.

Cheshire soon came after Mickey (probably within a day or two... hahaha).

Maleficent took longer, but she is just so fun. In my collection she is not a villain, just maligned and misunderstood (I am going with the live action movie, not the original animated movie).

Star Wars: Leia, Rey, Droids (and a few others based on subjective opinion of cuteness, luckily many Star Wars pins are not what I would call cute.)

Characters dressed as other characters... especially characters I collect.

Collections are so to taste... for example @Ajk avoids cuties, but I love cuties, so if a cute series comes out I like, will get all of the series.

Like @Arendelle I avoid words/years. After several pins broke or worked oddly... I do not actively search out pins with moving parts. Avoid pins where my characters are with other characters which saves me a bunch for avoiding all of the Mickey with Minnie pins...)

And... someday I will own up to my 'not collecting Moana' collection... which I blame DSSH for. :)

Identifying my collections and what I really like or don't like, helps me (kinda) control my pin collecting budget.
