2018 Pin Releases
Oh how weird. I was looking st this on Tapatalk last night it and it was in the PTD thread! But now it’s in the 2018 thread.

My bad! I think Tapatalk was glitching cuz i def remember checking previous posts and they were all PTD talk

Glad you said it as I had the exact same experience.

All that to say, who in their right mind thought it was a good idea to release a puzzle set with only one piece being le 50?!?!?

Also, didn't the company try an Ariel puzzle sometime back that had to be cancelled? I would want to see an IRL photo.

Bloop!

They did have an Ariel puzzle a while back. It wasn’t a mystery I think it was LE 300 and you had to buy all six pins as a set. I didn’t pre-buy because Ariel was (obviously) on only ONE of the pins and all the others were “background” (or in my mind, pins of “nothing”) it was over $100 and I couldn’t see how these six pins were better than a jumbo pin!
I wonder if the thought behind this “mystery” set is pin collector’s greed that they are hoping to prey on. Hoping people will believe that the 50 complete sets will actually be valuable and as such ppl will be eager to buy the pieces and race to complete sets so they resell/markup those few. I wonder if that’s the thinking behind it.
I know a number of us were talked into the “LE 100 variations” that proved a bust.

This is an absolutely gorgeous pin set.

But would be so sad to have 19 of the pins with one permanently missing... The concept of this one is a bit confusing to me (150 people get a pin puzzle with one pin permanently missing? They cannot have the whole picture?) o_O:confused:

Trying to stay the course of my positive Pollyana ways. It's a very lovely pin puzzle/picture and a lucky 50 people will get to complete it. :)

Who in their right mind would buy this? They are all in mystery bags. There are only 50 of the pin needed to complete the set. There is a high likelihood of duplicates since they are being sold as mystery bags. There is a very low chance of actually being able to find the LE 50 pin to complete the set. This couldn't be a bigger blatant cash grab. Let's do the math there are 3850 possible mystery bags with these pins and only 50 of the pin needed to complete the puzzle. At least the chaser pins for the puzzle sets in the parks aren't required to have a full set. This is absolutely ridiculous.

So they get $38,500 and anyone who purchases these blind bags gets $200 of worthless pins that no one will want and probably a high unlikelihood of completing their set. What a great opportunity but quite typical for this company.

Update on the ACME puzzle... It's not a puzzle! I posted this in the Pinopolis thread, but in case people aren't following that, here's what Kristi posted on Facebook:

"Pinopolis Pin Games So I got a little more info.... I have updated the post. It is not a puzzle! It is a set of the characters in the artwork. 20 pins in all. So you do not have to have the le50 pin unless you want to be a completist!

:) the pins will be blind bags for $10 each and are a part of our HotArt Trading program. They will be available for purchase at the Orlando event and there is no limit!

The artwork is available for sale through the Shanghai Disney Store. Retail cost is $900. I for one would not likely purchase this amazing piece of art to stick pins in it.... HAHAHA

Sorry, little bit of Kristi humor. Hope this update helps!"

Okay, this makes much more sense and may be something I will participate in. Could be fun.

Thanks!

So certain ones will have certain characters? And only the chaser will have all the characters?

Okay, not a pin release, but I was reading a merchandise update on the Disney Food Blog, saw this and thought of a few people. This update was for Animal Kingdom, do not know where else this shirt may be sold.

A word to the wise: When you see parks merch, check both the ShopDisneyParks app AND plain-old DS.com. This shirt has been available on the website. It's currently sold out in most sizes. But there are often ways to get parks merch without being in or near the parks (or bugging your buddies in CA and FL, ha ha).
