WDW August Pin Event - Animation Celebration

We are going to WDW next year from 16th August for two weeks, 7 of us so villa off site. Any advice around events for an event newbie would be greatly appreciated.

We did pretty good overall- only had to buy 2 state pins on eBay to finish our set & one Doc Mcstuffins PTD to finish that set

But the highlight was finding an AP Adventure’s Club pin AND having it signed by Shelia

It's Official!! Per Disney announcement at Event today, BOTH D23 Expo 2019 AND the Epcot Fairy Tails Pin Event 2019 WILL be in August. NOT the same week.

Ugh. That likely means we will be earlier in the month.

Thanks. She’s from a mystery set in 2013. It has four pins from each movie that fit together to form a sort of scene with some symbol of the movie in the center. In this case, a chefs hat.

Sorry but no. My wife is a fan and pulled that herself for her own mini collection.

Not a ton of trades. Though they were few, they were mighty!!

Tangled I traded for @mickeymousje, I've been hunting for that blasted Valiant and Villainous pin for years and @AidanShepard managed to trade for it for me! <3 and the Teacher's Day Mickey was an amazing zap from @natelove <3 thank you so much, dear! How did you know my teacher vest looks like that? ;P

And what's that thing over there on the right? Oh, nothing much. Just a grail Mushu scene. You know, if I collected Mushu...

ANYWHO! Here are the pulls from the boards. Everything is AP except the HMs and two of the Mystery Set Chasers which I've already moved to a set. XD

the Platypus is not for trade. Why, you may ask? Well, that's because Russ says it can, and I quote, "go in my Perry the Platypus collection."

That, ladies and gentlemen, is the greatest gift of all: an admission of a second collection. XD

But one of the most satisfying accomplishments is finishing the Maui HM set, including completer, before it even drops!! I couldn't have done it without the eagle eyes of Aidan (who pulled the completer!) and Russ!

And beyond the pins, it was AMAZING to see so many wonderful pin friends!! There are those mentioned above as well as @chubs191, @Kiragigi, @fuzzybunny, @lynn99, @xdattax, Mr and Mrs @Ajk, @TheMickeyMouseRules, @NDBounce, and I'm sure others that my pin-saturated brain have missed. But you're all amazing and beautiful and it was so great to see you all. :3

We shall see you again for next year! Time now to go bubble wrap all the things!

From what I've seen, HMs are the hardest to trade for. Not least because they're the most scrapped. But also they're so common. So you can maybe trade an HM for an OE, but not an LE.

People get really particular about only certain kinds of LEs for only certain other kinds of LEs too. Offering two 500s for one 250 doesn't always fly. And sometimes it has to be another WDI to get a WDI, etc.

You can trade any legit Disney pin to the boards. And unfortunately people still trade fakes to the boards.

The boards are just like CM lanyard trading. No additional rules.

I am SO sorry you don't collect Mushu. That would have been a great scene if you did. Try to pay closer attention to what you trade for and don't go for those wrapped and hidden "surprise" pins in plain brown wrappers hawked by sharks like barkers at the Carney or this is what happens.

All my keepers!! I'm very pleased with the event and how I did. I really hope I can come next year! The theme sounds awesome!

Also, tried fitting all the new pins my boards and there's way too much overcrowding. it's time I get a new board!
