Stuffed full of Christmas food? Next year on your mind? Time to think about how your resolutions went this year?

This is the thread to discuss the great big beautiful tomorrow and to celebrate this year's successes!

I'll start off:

My new pin resolution this year was the Art of Ariel and I can report that I secured it in April!

Next year's new pin resolution is the Japan Disney Mall LE 100:
pin54055

I finally saw it in person in a collection and I was so enamored. I've decided to make it my priority, so if you or a friend or a friend of a friend have it for trade, let me know!

New year’s pin resolutions from 2018:

1) focus on main collections and reduce all of the excess - check

2) Obtain Eric and Hercules profiles - both on their way!! Don’t tell my daughter about Eric, it’s a surprise for her birthday next month

3) complete Mr. Toad reveal/conceal - check!

New Year’s pin resolutions for 2019:

1) Obtain at least 3 out of the 5 remaining Mr. Toad pins

2) Obtain WDI Dancing Ariel and Eric

3) Obtain Gaston and Hades ptds

4) Obtain DSUK Gaston with bimbettes

5) Obtain at least 2 of remaining 6 ENG pins

6) Obtain Ariel Floral Fan

Bonus Goal/Resolution:

Obtain Ariel Designer Doll

Obtain Ariel D23 merchandise and pins

More like lofty goals instead of a resolution. My main resolutions are to trade more/buy less and continue to focus on my and my family’s main collections and not get too distracted.

My resolution is that at the WDW pin event next year, recognize you and your friends when you are in line right near me (which you invariably are). :D
The only reason I ever recognize you is because of your Halloween pin lanyard! We'll get it worked out next year XD

2019 Pin Resolutions

1.) Attend the Fairy Tails Pin Event :p
(I want to meet so many of you in person!)

2.) Complete the following sets::D
a.) Main Street Magic Mystery Set - Disneyland (1)
b.) Main Street Magic Mystery Set -WDW (2)
c.) Small World 50th Anniversary Frame AP pins (2)

3.) Organize my boxes of pins so I can better trade them.

4.). Get all the Anniversary pins for Princess and the Frog when its 10th anniversary is celebrated. ;)

1. Trade more! I've really lapsed into the "purchasing > trading" method of growing my collection. It's not inherently awful, but I prefer making friends through pin trading & I have way too many traders collecting dust in my pin books these days...
2. Make it out to at least one pin event, probably David's party this spring.
3. Round out a few more side collections: seven dwarfs' displays, Mariners baseball, R2-D2, Ironman, etc.
4. Maybe add like one Snow White pin to my collection??
5. Actually downsize my collection and traders and pass along pins to other people who would enjoy them more! :)

Well it was going to get my pins into a pretty state like @katelouise has hers (that gal is an artist!), but since we may be moving in April now it is to get my pins safe for storage. Let's see...

1. Get some Pinfolios to safely store my collection
2. Finish getting all the Pixie Hollow fairy PTD pins
3. Finish or get close to finishing the book fairies (2 hidden Mickey sets and 8 pins away). Next year I'll tackle the movie fairies I don't have yet
4. Finish off my Sofia the First and Elena of Avalor collections, I'm 1 away from Sofia and a few OEs away from Elena
5. Be patient when I can't find the pins that I want for a price I am willing to pay!

Too many to list, but some of the highlights:

1. Attend more pin events (either in California or Florida - maybe both). More representation from Texas at these events. Oh and the event should have a fun and recognizable shirt (created by and for DPF members to wear at the event)

2. Focus our collection. Try to eliminate the single pin acquisitions without a collecting goal in mind. Consolidate where we can and work towards some fun collection ideas.

3. Buy more Limited Dolls - Collection needs to grow....clearly, we do not have enough.

4. Actually complete a pin trade (I have completed zero to date).

5. Meet members of the forum - and leave a lasting impression of my awesomeness (kidding - sort of).

2018 was an expensive year, but a fruitful year (especially for Robin Hood - I got so many pins this year that were high on my grail list!). I also succeeded in not starting a new collection this year, something I was trying to avoid. My 2019 goals are:

~ Attend the Florida event and David's event.
~ Create display boards for all of my collections. I have multiple collections that are either on temporary holding boards or in storage bins; I want to be able to see all the money and hard work I've put into this hobby.
~ Downsize my Lion King collection and let go of some of the "I collected this just because" sets.
~ No new collections again; continue to focus on current collections.
~ I anticipate lots of new Lion King pins this coming year (25th anniversary of original and release of CGI version), so I want to be very judicious about what I get and only get the pins I really like and not everything just because it's Lion King.

I also hope to drastically reduce my non-pin Lion King collection that has just been sitting in boxes in storage for years doing nothing.

My pin goals for 2019 would be:

- attend the WDW trading event

- obtain Moana profile

- obtain Moana Cutie

- and if we are getting really froggy obtain the Maui Jumbo Surprise

2019 pin goals:

* no new collections (I am tempted by so many different characters/themes/etc.)
* make a decision to either commit or drop the tiger collection and Marie - I keep adding and deleting these pins from my Wants
* be more active with the RAK - I was pretty active with this the previous years but only hit or miss in 2018
* pick a new grail - I got my most holy grail in 2018 - need a new target

My goals, in order of importance:

1. Find the two Le125 and LE100 Wendy grails I need. They always go fast the minute someone posts them. I may have to resort to buying rather than trading.

2. Find more grails, in general.

3. Educate myself more on older pins. Often times I trade for new traders and not knowing the history or popularity of a pin has caused me to miss out on some awesome trades. I really want to diversify my book with older yet sought after pins like Auctions, because I noticed at the August pin event that my friends with older pins always got more people at their table, LOL. I have alot of the newer ones, and I did not get as many people approaching me, haha.

4. Sell off some of my traders so I can buy more grails.

5. Start some new princess sets I've been eyeing but haven't felt ready to start: the WDI Storybookland Princess & Prince set, DSSH cuties, and the Stunning Silhouette set.

6. Start a new collection for the purpose of trading more. I've lately had trader's block mostly because I find it's so difficult to track down alot of the older pins I want, even the LE1000's +.

For 2019:

Fairy Tales event. Yup, will be going.
Less spending on fantasy pins.
More laser focus on current collections.
Do not start any new collections
Acquire pins to trade at above mentioned event.
Better organize current collections

Ironically, and unlike most of you guys, my not mentioned pin resolution for next year is actually to start a new collection.

With there being so few Mr. Toad and ENG pins left for me to find, and with downsizing to some degree my splash mountain collection to concentrate on specific aspects of the set that I like better, I think I am at a perfect time to focus on my Hercules and Gaston collections and also to start a new one.

What it is I have some idea but not completely sure. Leaning towards Tarzan, but will probably want to focus it narrowly.

My other pin resolution is to focus more on my daughter’s collections, especially Ariel.

This is FUN to read....adding my updates

Recap: 2018
Pin collection grew due to getting one of our kids settled at UF, with some days devoted to WDW. Overall, highlights included adding three grails, 1) the Ariel Profile Pin, 2) the Tinker Bell Profile Pin (Hubby put that one in my stocking!!!)...and 3) the SDL Pin Hunting Day Hunny Pot Spin pin! They are all gorgeous!

2019 Resolutions
Now that Hubby and I are happily empty-nesting, but far from a park in the DC area....here's my list ---

* Attend the May New Jersey Disney Pin Traders Event May 17 - 19 -- Hotel Reservations Made with Janis!
* Attend Maryland Disney Pin Traders Events and meet more local pin traders in the DC/VA area
* Re-Organize trader pins for easy display and design/implement an easily understandable reference approach (ideas anyone???)
* Mark Calendar with Disney Store Monthly Pin Releases ahead of time
* Carefully decide upon a few pins to seek out for my side collection of 'Pooh and Friends'

Best Pin Wishes for a Wonderful 2019
:pooh::tigger::piglet::eeyore:

~Finish the Alice Hidden Mickey set from this year. This will probably require a trip back to the parks. (And hopefully I won't be sick this trip.)
~Thin out my traders. Hopefully, by trading them !
~I would love to complete the AIW in Sorcerers hat series, but this is a huge stretch goal/dream.
~Obtain at least one grail.

I definitely have a few more resolutions after reading all these wonderful ones:

1. Obtain Disney Mall LE 100 pin.
2. Don't spend money on eBay.
3. Don't buy any traders from the parks.
4. Trade more in the parks (only traded twice this year).
5. Attend at least one trade night and Saturday trade event.
6. Only spend money on the main collection, unless WDI pin.
7. Have a lot in the savings for D23.
8. Be able to walk around enough for D23
9. Move to Orlando or California and start my finishing of my Bachelor's.
10. Finish my pin wall installation.

Sadly, my pin resolution for 2019 will be the same one I had for 2018 - finish the 2017 Alice Park Pack set! I'm still missing three - two of which have been faked, which make the real ones that much harder to find. :(

Beyond that, the other three older pins I'm missing (Walt with Characters, Alice Trivia dangle, and Alice Cheers ABD pin) may still stay elusive to me, but I'll keep an eye out and hope.

Otherwise, my goal for my Wonderland collection is just to keep up. I'm only otherwise missing the WDW hidden mickeys from this year I think. And I hope I can trade for those at some point, too.

For my Marvel non-collection :p I spent this year trading for everything I could easily get until I realized where I wanted that focus to be - fave character (Loki), Marvel movie and park icons, and cutie/chibi/kawaii-style Marvel pins - especially the SDCC & NYCC pins. This helped me identify my Marvel grails (118417 NYCC 2016 Marvel Loki Incentive Pin and Pin# 122614
DSSH - Guardians of The Galaxy 2 - Guardian's Shield) that I hope to find next year. :)

In 2019, I’d like to:

- Trade 5 pins (I hardly ever trade)
- Sell 5 pins (I don’t think I’ve sold before)
- Zap 5 pins (or more)
- Go to David’s party, but driving to Anaheim is blah. I almost always fly down from the Bay Area to go to Disneyland. But I need to think about hauling trading books.
- Meet any of you at WDW. My work is sending me to a conference at the Grand Floridian. I get to go on work’s dime! It’s a dream come true! Last week of February if anyone wants to hang out at night.
- Buy a villains set that I’ve been eyeing for years
- Organize my Star Wars collection. This is the only collection that isn’t organized in a pin book or bag and unceremoniously thrown into a box.

Pin resolution 2019....

1. Make a budget and stick to it.

2. Review rule one when Frozen 2 pins are released and I want to buy them all.

3. Review rule one during my April trip to WDW when I see all the pins and want to buy them all.

4. I want to say I’ll trade more and buy less, but trading makes me anxious. Yea, I know that’s dumb but I honestly feel like I’m going in to purchase a car or something. So I will try to trade, but it will probably be to complete blind box sets. My heart is set on the Sleeping Beauty 60th Anniversary set. (It’s books! I’m a librarian! Match made in heaven).

5. Catalog my collection and get a printed version of it. You know you’re old when you start wondering if you should add a rider to the home insurance just in case. When did I become the sensible one???? Nooooooo

Happy New Years 2019 everyone!!! These resolutions sure are better than going in a diet.

I have often thought about doing this too.

Not to taunt you but one of the CMs at my local Disney store wears the Alice trivia pin. I have thought about you last time I saw him.
