Can one have too many collections? I ask because in my short time pin collecting I seem to have quite a few. It started with Snow White since she's been my favorite princess since I was about 3. ;) Then it went to Brave, love Merida. Then Lady and the Tramp, my favorite movie as a kid. And now Frozen, I love love love this movie. Now I've seen some really cute Chip and Dale pins and I'm like well I could collect them too... I think I need a pins anonymous group..... :mickey:
 
Nope. I have a bunch of collections as well. Walt Disney World, Pocahontas, and Snow White are my main collections. I have a smaller fab 5 and princess collection. Collect as many collections as you want.
 
Nope...and it will get worse with time.

My grandma just announced to me she wants to collect all the "critters" from every Disney movie. And I'm pretty sure Dawny just collects EVERY movie lol.
 
AND FOR THE RECORD We collect:

Mine:
-Lion King (Nala is my main)
-Cats (all of them, big and small)
-Princess and the Frog
-Mickey and Minnie from Japan as long as they're wearing red or pink
-Angel & Chandu Tokyo Game pins
-Home on the Range (But there's only 10 pins and I have 5!)
-and a little bit of Disney doggies

My grandma:
-DUMBO
-Nightmare Before Christmas
-Cheshire Cat
-Alice in wonderland (Yes, she considers them 2 collections)
-Black and White Mickey and Friends
-Mickey in general
-Whinnie the Pooh
-Bambi


My little sister and boyfriend don't collect but we do pick them up a pin or two somtimes. My sister has a board of her own and she likes Toy Story, monsters INC and STICH

Boyfriend likes Rapunzel.

Its a lot, but its about balance. I don't get every pin that comes out, simply because I don't like every pin that comes out. I find the notion of being a completist just silly for me, (I couldn't do it even if I wanted to), so I just go for what I love. :) Right now, I'm focused on Frozen, because that is what I'm most passionate about. I would love to be a completist for Frozen, but I don't think that's going to happen (I've loved every pin that's come out so far...haha! I'm sure that will change though). And if it doesn't, ah well, the world will spin on!! The only thing I MUST have without question is going to be the BT when it comes out (Same goes for Brave and Tarzan...hopefully they aren't all at once).
 
Nope never too many although I try to keep it to five MAIN hardcore collections and then have a bunch of small side ones.. Hehe.

I used to collect Princesses, Villains, Chip 'n Dale, Lilo and Stitch, Jessica Rabbit, Tinker Bell, Winnie the Pooh, when I was 10-12. I recently started trading again in September and I found out my collection is just over the place. So I decided to slim it down to:

- Frozen
- Tangled
- Beloved Tales
- PODM
- Stitch dressed as other characters
- Wreck It Ralph
- Cheshire cat

Emphasis on "slim it down"… :rolleyes: It obviously didn't work. And I'm constantly fighting my mind because it wants to collect Up and Princess and the Frog too. I'll probably give in soon. A tough life, that of a collector. But to answer your question, your collection is only too much when you think it's too much.
 
Nothing wrong with collecting multiple themes! (Or so I keep telling myself!)

Current collections:

Chip n Dale - my main collection that's been going for many years now

Princesses - mostly Belle, Mulan & Rapunzel but there's Ariel, Merida & the rest in there too

Castles - just because there are some stunning castle pins especially in stained glass

Little Green Men (Toy Story Aliens) - I can't resist them, they're so cute :)

Roo & Lumpy (as in Kanga & Roo and Lumpy the Heffalump from Winnie the Pooh) - I used to love them when I was younger and can't part with the pins, in fact I keep getting new ones.

Star Wars/Tours - love the films, the ride, the universe. So why not? :dunno:

Side collections of Lady & the Tramp, Pascal, Flounder, Chip & Mrs Potts as well.

Then I just have so many others too: Mickey & Minnie, attractions, Christmas, cuties, Pin Trading pins....

Ok, if it has a pointy back, it just might be in my collection... LOL
 
There are so many great characters, movies , themes, etc. to collect. If you have unlimited funds you can collect them all. If not, pick the pins that make you smile and collect them.

I collect all Jiminy Cricket pins.

Sometimes I feel that way, especially thinking about the money im spending trying to obrtain items for each collection. PLUS, I collect Disney dolls and vinylmations, etc.

My main collections are:

but also includes:
Anything TLM
Anything BatB
Maleficent
Gaston
Prince Phillip
Terence
Anything from the parks that I like especially relating to Epcot

I do sometimes think I should perhaps limit myself to just collecting Princesses. Collecting all of them is already a pretty big commitment just because of the quantity of pins that includes and also including some of the most expensive themes to get into but on other hand I really love my other collections. I'm unsure whether it would really be possible to collect all of them on an equal footing, so I don't think you can have too many collections (ot at least I couldn't personally) as long as there is some kind of priority system. I currently collect

I used to collect anything that was limited edition but that was just crazy on my part. Now i only collect certain pins series. Marvel comics, Nightmare before christmas, Piece of History, Star Wars/Tours, Haunted Mansion Grand openings, Anniversary and CM working holiday pins are my main series. Everything else i used to collect i added to my traders to hopefully get pins i want in exchange.
 
My only "real" collection is a collection of pins I like. If I like a pin, I want to have it. If I don't like it, then I don't feel the need to have it. I don't have any specific themes that I am always searching for pins for. There are certain themes that I like more than others, typically because they have more meaning to me, but again, I only collect the pins that I like.
 
I have the wanting to collect everything bug :lol:

and then...ALL the princesses, except snow white :lol: I just love the princesses, this I just collect more casually though cause i'd go insane trying to be a completist for all of them :lol:

Villains - mostly Maleficent, Evil Queen, and Chernabog, but I like them all
Haunted Mansion - my most treasured jumbos are here
Princes and other male leads - my #1 lanyard to wear at the resorts; Philip is my fave
Star Wars - vickichip7 said it best...love the universe
Disneyland 50th anniversary - all that wonderful gold...less than 2 years now for the 60th...how time flies
Pirates of the Caribbean - the only completist goal for me is the redhead

My "classic animal" collection - Bambi, Thumper, Flower, Lucifer, Si & Am, Lady & the Tramp, and 101 Dalmatians.

My Hanukkah collection - Ten pins and counting!

My Halloween collection - Mostly pins featuring Mickey-shaped-jack-o-lanterns.

My Haunted Mansion/Tower of Terror collection - The stretch portraits, and one TOT "key".

The Tiki Room - Just a handful of pins of the birds!

My "Princess" collection - Mostly Beauty & the Beast, and pins with the princesses kissing their prince.

My "Sword in the Stone" collection - Mostly Mim and Merlin.

My Alice in Wonderland collection - Mostly Alice, Dinah, and the Dormouse.

My Robin Hood collection - A whopping 3 pins. :-D

My Mickey Icons collection - Just a few!



Okay... I THINK that's all of them! :crazy:

After making this list, I think I need a "Pintervention." :sigh:
