Hey everyone. I'm seeing a lot of cool boards you all have your collections on. Do you get your boards anywhere specific/do you custom build them? Tell me all about your boards!

IKEA cork boards- painted with cheap craft paint here!

I like a cork board but made a little nicer. Take a old black tee or you could buy black fabric to use. I stretch it over the board and than staple it on the backside. This way shows the pins off well and you do not see all the holes. You could use different fabric if you like.

Currently I just use cheap cork boards from Daiso (a chain of Japanese dollar stores), to keep things separated and out of boxes... eventually I'd love to do them all justice with real displays.
I want to have a piece of artwork in the middle, then cover the matte for the picture in fabric, and stick the pins around in the matte.
I'll test this hopefully soonish, as I need to make one for my Nana's Ursula pins, and her pin collection is much smaller than mine haha

This is all great info. I bought some cork boards from Target and I have broken the backs of two pins already. The cork is just really rough and annoying to get the pin through and sometimes I have a hard time re-arranging them.

So, all in all thanks for the sharing and continue to let me know what you're pins boards are like/where you get them etc!

Right now I just have collections staged on black foam boards, until I'm ready to commit to getting crafty with a real display and decide on backgrounds, etc. One idea I saw online somewhere and saved was using Disney-themed washi tape on the frame of the corkboards/shadow boxes.

If your having trouble with the cork boards. I use a dense closed cell foam. It’s basically the foam mats used for workout floors or children’s play mats. It doesn’t break down like cork and doesn’t damage the pin posts.

The is the most recent pack I grabbed from Costco for $19.99.

Custom build front opening shadow boxes currently working on one 24" x 36" for our Magic Kingdom which is growing constantly. I use cork glued to plywood backing, then jet black knit fabric to cover. This way once pins are moved holes do not show.
