New at Box Lunch

Just as good as a profile, right?

Omg, Box Lunch, stop it. But at least this is attainable, unlike the stupid profiles, UGH. I think Robin Hood's the best of the set, but I'm trying not to like Peter Pan. ^^;

Looking forward to seeing what my fave dudes look like, but dreading them as well.

Something I hadn't known until yesterday is that there's a line of fantasy pins that's almost identical to the villain and heroine profiles. They explicitly market them as an affordable ($50) alternative to the real thing.

Are you talking about the cheap plastic pins?

No, isn't there a fantasy set that pretty much does alt versions of the profiles? I think Aurora, for example, has a make-it-blue-make-it-pink dress? Although I'm not sure the prices on them are still as affordable, since people lost their (poop) over them and all fantasy pins seem to have an exorbitant life of their own for a while ...

I hadn't noticed they were plastic. That would be obnoxious. Let me figure out where I found them.

ETA: Oh you're right!!

Those are PLASTIC????? Wow, another reason I'm glad I steer clear of fantasy pins (even the cute ones). $50 for plastic is called "highway robbery" where I come from.

Don't shoot! Not sure if they're the same ones you guys are talking about but I bought some fantasy plastic ones...I paid 10 bucks though. You can't blame me, it's Mali, Ariel and Belle...I'm just being realistic here, those wdi profiles are not heading my way so I found a cheap replacement. They look nice, especially from afar! lol

$10 for plastic is fine. $50 for plastic is a CRIME. Seriously, people. Put your heads back on straight. I know they're "cheaper" than the ridiculous WDI profile prices, but the world has GONE MAD when people pay $50 for cheap plastic crap. I said what I said.

Hmmm...now I'm curious...gonna go see if they're the same ones I have or completely different...

There are plastic copies (like straight up copies, identical to the original) and then there are 10000x circle fantasy pins of Disney characters holding things, lol. Some are better than others. I am tempted by the Giselle from enchanted, tbh!!

I'm going off what @cadien said. If there are two sets, that explains it. Or if someone is reselling the $10 pins for $50 somewhere because now they're SOLD OUT and SO RARE HTF OMG ... Sorry, I'm just getting really, really sick of the hype train. I like my pins and have plenty I want and sometimes get ALL CAPS about it, but sometimes I'm looking at FB or IG and just thinking, "I'm over this (poop)."

Ah, and there we have it! :D Thanks for the clarification. (I'd still be careful, though, because once the $50 ones sell, you'll just be subjected to the same batch of people trying to flip them for EVEN MORE, blah blah blah. I realize we live in Dark Times and everyone's depressed and needs things to cheer them up--I'm not projecting, ha ha ha--but the rabid need to buy at any cost fuels the stupid prices and discourages folks who are in it for fun, and around we go again. I'm just waiting. The bubble has to burst sometime.)

For clarification there are two types of fan made profiles...
There are some that are yes, plastic, and they are straight up copies using a photo of the official released WDI pins. They're roughly $10, but they are cheaply made, they feel like shrinky dink plastic and have like glitter glue on them?? Also my personal opinion is this falls into a bootleg category. I get that they may be attractive for people to own something close to the pin, but they put a bad taste in my mouth. This encourages sellers to make cheap copies of any pin that is hard to obtain.

It seems every fantasy creator under the sun is doing their own version of the profiles, whether they be the princesses in alternate costumes, all the animal characters, etc. These at least usually have original artwork created just for them, but depending on who the creator is, some of these fantasy pins can fetch as much as an official profile (barf), but then yeah, some of them are cheaper in the $25-$50 range.

Ya know, I know it's really HARD TO DO & I don't blame anyone who can't but, for my Cinderella Collection, if it is from WDI, I ignore it unless I can Trade for it. WHY continue to FUEL the selling frenzy??

Yep, with the WDI pins I pass unless I can find them at a decent price/trade or if it's for a completist collection, but even then I'm not in any rush.

I wholeheartedly agree. There are some Mulan pins that I will never get. Is it bummer? Yep. Does that mean I'm going to pay 20x the retail price for a pin? Heck no.

I call it "my 10 year plan." There is very little on my very long wants list, I haven't had an opportunity to pick up over 10 years. Maybe, sometimes I couldn't pull the trigger because of other purchases, or real life getting in the way, so I still don't own it, but I had found an opportunity. Gomes pins are the exception. But something else seems to come around, and old grails turn back into something more reasonable.

Looks like these are releasing on the Disney store Japan site tomorrow.
If anyone has a Japan hookup I'm looking for a pickup
