I came up with a way of storing single pins now instead of little Disneyland bags. Ziplock snack size clear storage bags. That way I can see what pin it is and it's protected. The pins that do come with their own little plastic bag work great unless they don't come with one. I don't usually use pin bags and I like to always keep the backer cards on the pins, so these little ziplocks work great for me. Plus this prevents scraping up against another pin. I only use these bags when the pins are stored in a drawer and not on display.
