And really tasty! The icing on the cali state cookies was really good, crunchy but not brittle. Your sugar cookie recipe is pretty delish!

I have to admit I never got a chance to get one of your wonderful cookies... but everyone who has had one they rave about it. I assume that they are royal iced... and they look amazing...

Can I come take lessons from you, because this is one thing I do not know how to do.. :p

Those pie cookies look might good, I must say! Now I want cookies and there are no cookies here. Boo.

But, there was beer. I cracked open my bottle of Mammoth Brewing Co.’s Blondibock that I brought home last July from California (in my checked luggage no less, people at FLL were amused as I unpacked all my wine and beer not far from the luggage carousel).

Why did I pour a rare bottle tonight? Well, aside from having a super American dinner of hotdogs and cheese fries I started my 18 week journey on a block of the week sampler. It’s theme is road trip and the first block is inspired by the step wells in India.

I bought a fabric kit this time, instead of scrap busting or stash raiding like I attempted for last year’s summer sampler (and failed. I’m about 12 weeks behind on that one). I’ve never worked with ombré fabric before and yesterday I was stumped on how to approach this.

After asking questions and getting answers I tackled it today. And here’s what I made:

Yes, if you’re Facebook or Instagram friends with me, you’ve already seen it. I’m hoping if i share pictures I’ll be more inclined to keep up and not fall behind on this sampler. When I fall behind is when I lose interest. Tomorrow I’m going to figure out which 2017 blocks I’m missing, print them out, and Thursday start knocking them out. That quilt is going to attempt to be stash only, if anything to use my fabric up. So, maybe you guys and my FB/Insta fam can help keep me honest and trucking along at my machine. ;)

Backstitching is done! Here is the final product of the Russian angel. All it needs now is to be washed! (And a hemline sewn around the edges, but someone else does that for me. I don't have a sewing machine.)[IMG][IMG]

I worked on my grad cap for pretty much the entire week! I'm very pleased with how it came out. I used the laser cutter for the quote and castle, made my first flower crown, used a strip of LEDs and Arduino to program the light sequence that I designed myself.

And this is what you get when an engineer graduates. It’s awesome and far more than I could do. Hell, if I was to walk again (either for the currently unstarted MA or almost done second BA) I’d probably not do anything, even though it’s a big deal to do the caps. my first college go around maybe one out of 1500 caps was decorated. what a change in a few years; i work for a graduation photo company and I’ve seen these evolve. We take a lot of pictures of them.

Forgot to post this like... last summer. Oops.

Anyway - this is a frame I made for the now ex (I'm the one not wearing the Mickey ears - if you forget what I look like :p). Tangled was "our" movie and he wanted to get this photo at the parks so bad. Had the photo printed on pearlescent paper. It has a nice glowing effect, especially for shots with lights like the lanterns with a lot of darkness around. Really makes the light look like it's shining - but you can't really use regular glass or you lose the effect. Made the lanterns in illustrator, mounted them on some thin foam core for support. They're they placed with the dimensional dots for scrap booking - in person they look like they're floating off the frame. Painted the mat aanndd I think that's it.

Been kinda debating making more of these to sell. It was fun to make.

Thanks. I think it's a bit busy with all slots full so may only display 3 at a time.
