Nice pins! I like the snail with wings. Good timing for Halloween pins too!

Ooh the cakes looks awesome! Do you bake also or just decorate?

@ksnuggles wow, those are some outstanding cakes you've made, they are all very beautiful, and a lovely wedding picture on your FB as well.

@Imp wow.... just wow, how long did it take you to finish that cross stitch? There is so much detail in it!

Wow, that cross stitch is amazing! How do you go about doing a large piece? I learned how to cross stitch when I was in 4th grade? I never really learned a correct strategy or anything, so I can do small designs. However, when I try to do big pieces, I lose count and things mess up, and I give up :[ womp womp

I tried youtubing, and saw some stuff about.. grids? .. any tips would be appreciated!

bacon...I cannot give you any tips for larger pieces. I wish I could. I just keep going until I finish.
Larger cross stitch patterns without a mixture of colors are easier. When colors are blended (not
necessarily together) to create a color, it is much more difficult to count and complete. It is also
frustrating to have a ton of colors. Right now I am working on a cross stitch that is about 11x14
and I am about to give up because there are too many "blended colors". Do I really need 14 different
colors of green to create a leaf? Ugh. Just keep stitching!

The peacock cross-stitch took forever! It's about 14" x 22", every stitch is a blend of 2 colours of threads, plus individual details were then outlined (each individual leaf for example) and the border has gold thread and beading. whew!

As for advice on using a grid, I use a highlighter to mark each square on the pattern as I stitch it - it's the only way I can keep track of where I am.

Here is one on the large pieces I did last year. The second two photos show the size. It was done on a large center block baby afghan blanket.

I pretty much agree with the just keep going until you're done advice. There are times I count, look at the placement on the cloth, count again, and then count a third time. Mistakes will happen. I've spent many evenings pulling out what I stitched the night before. It's also easier to get away with them in the larger pieces. Most of the time when there are multiple of the same looking color, no one is going to notice there's a mistake. There are a few incorrect stitches in the blanket. But I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who can pick out where they are.

Just keep working on it and it'll be great! It's cliche, but as long as you have fun doing it, that's what matters most.[IMG][IMG][IMG]

Everyone on this thread is super talented. I find the crossstitch stuff, both the peacock and the dancer, truly amazing. But no way I could do any of what any of you do. Great stuff.

This is awesome! So much great artwork!

I'm a big fan of painting and doodling, and I do some sewing/crafting on the side since I love to cosplay! I don't have any Disney cosplays yet but I'll leave some of my doodles here. I also made the pixel headless horseman seen as my avatar.

Omg, you are so talented! I absolutely love the Minnie and Daisy drawing! I would totally buy something like that to put on my Disney art wall.

Thank you! I've been thinking of making some paintings to sell when I have time. I've also thought about commissions but I never know how long it'll take to finish something since work can take up so much time.
