It was a kit for each, so decently easy. It has all of the directions there for you. The hardest part for me was sewing the front and back together. I don't have a sewing machine, so I had to do it by hand.

Recently I decided to slow down my BatB collecting and focus on dumbo and DLR PODH. To make room for my big board, I made a smaller frame for my BatB collection to migrate to.

First, every good collection frame has a nice centerpiece.

Then, I got the cork that I bought and cut it to size (16”x16”). Also cut out the plastic from the LIAA farewell pin box to use as a cover for the cross stitch.

Fished out my bags of scrap fabrics from the LA opera sale. Leftover fabric from the costumes! Found a beautiful blue fabric with a nice sheen. Here’s my bf chipping in!

Basically, I cut out fabric to wrap around the cork, cut a little window for the cross stitch, and glued that and the extra fabric down. Then, I laid the cork inside the fabric and laid the cardboard backing behind that. I’m having second thoughts that I should’ve glued more things but I think I’m ok

    Here’s the final frame!

Tried to take a pic so you can see the shininess of the fabric

I’ll move the pins over to their new home soon!

Beautiful! I love the pin boards with a non-pin element to anchor it, I think it sets off the pins so well. Looking forward to seeing it when the pins are all in!

Okay, this one's gonna be full of images! Be prepared! For the last two or three weeks, I've been hard at work on a large piece that I'm giving to a friend as a Christmas/retirement gift. For those of you who have read Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels, this will, hopefully, seem immediately familiar. For those who haven't, it's the actual world of Discworld, slightly borrowed from Indian/Hindu mythology - a flat disc world that sits on the back of 4 elephants which stand on the back of a giant turtle that flies through space. Unfortunately, I didn't have the time or talent to make all 4 elephants, but I did my best.

First: A picture of my cat wearing the Discworld as a hat. She looks super pleased to be involved in cutting-edge feline trends, doesn't she?
Then, the individual parts: since you've already seen the turtle, I'll post her on her stand (sorry they're a bit blurry, my camera phone kinda sucks).

    And, the completed project!

I'm not 100% happy with it, and if I had more time, I would probably be redoing some of it, but I don't, so there it is! The pictures really don't do it the justice it probably deserves, but I think it came out pretty well. Learned a lot for next time, one way or the other. :)

This is also a great opportunity to announce that I'm going to open up a little shop here on DPF (I would go to Etsy, but I really just want a small audience, especially for now) after Christmas! Keep your eyes peeled!

@Tokaji that looks awesome!! I love how you put it on a stand too. I think if you put eyes on the elephant, that’d finish the look!

I’m sure your friend will love it!

I went back and forth on the eyes over and over. I decided against it because they just didn't quite look right. I don't know! But thanks!

This picture looks very similar to a photo we have of our cat wearing bunny ears. :)

    Very nice! Is that embroidery?
I've been trying to see if I can do it, but I'm not sure what kind of fabric is best to use.

New year, new project. I've started on a Lion King quilt for Ang. I hope he loves it. This is my first attempt at paper piecing. I'm pretty excited at how it's turning out. 1 down too many more to go....[IMG]

Thanks! Paper piecing is a quilting technique that allows you to sew on a paper pattern. It's pretty interesting.

You are a great Mom! My child asked me when I was going to frame Timon and Pumbaa.
Christmas was coming, but now is gone. I need to get around to it...or maybe a round tuit. :)

    That quilt looks great!
