2014 Designer Dolls - Fairytale Collection Part II
Interesting, I thought the purplish was the edited version. I made two screenscaps to compare a greyish version and a purplish version (the first one is from a youtube clip of Once upon a time in hungarian, the second is from my english SB) On the left are Philips colors, on the right Auroras.

Ok there's a lot of buzz about the dress color of Aurora. To be clear: The original movie (unedited) has purple/pink tones used for the briar rose skirt. I admit, not in every scene sometimes it is more red (or even yellow).

I made a screencap of the movie, opened the image in photoshop and selected the color of the skirt. (I marked the place I took the color from with the green circle)

So, my opinion is that the purple color isn't that different from the original movie. It's just another tone (more vibrant)

Or maybe my version is edited ? It is the real disney version. and others I have are the original I think. sorry for the confusion.

I always saw her dress as grey but it doesn't bother me too much because as a designer doll you don't expect them to look 100% like the film outfits. But I do like how they managed to incorporate the shawl. Still wish her dress was shorter but I also wished Ariel's was too. It's very nice it's like a princess version of a peasant dress. Kinda wish Phillip was wearing brown as well.

Over all though I love the art work and their art work might be my favourite from any designer doll! Just hope this translates to the doll

I'm liking Briar Rose and the colour in the second clip posted above ties in with the artwork which is being released on the DVD in the UK on Monday :) I know the diamond edition has the pink dress but we are getting Briar Rose which makes me want the doll even more !!

The one on the bottom is the most recent version of SB. The funny thing about this scene is how off the coloring of Phillip's hands is, particularly when compared to his face. Whereas in the older version they are closer in tone like they should be. Hopefully they fix that for the Diamond edition.

Thanks for the information! :)
Phillip's hands have a really odd color, as if they were cold.

I really think remastering versions change up all the colors. I was pretty disappointed with some of the subtle shading that got lost in the Little Mermaid, and Bambi went from being a nice brown fawn to a reddish brown fawn. I would guess Aurora was put in a gray skirt originally and remastered to have the hint of purple to make it more vibrant. If she was a peasant the fairies were trying to hide from recognition as being royal she would not have had purple dye at all (although maybe her shawl was a bit so). And I think Disney wouldn't have wanted her peasant dress to be vibrant. He put her, Cinderella, and Snow White in very plain work clothes. The remastered versions totally mess with the hue as well as the whole look of the picture. Plus Phillips hands also look purple. I think it is just "off".

As as a kid and adult I always loved the plain muted earth tone dresses the princesses wore.

But out her designer version is totally different with purple and gold so it is it's own thing entirely.

Really conflicted now which doll I like more. On one hand Aurora has always been my favourite of the classic princesses and Cinderella tied with Snow White my least... (Still love them but not as much as Aurora, Belle or Ariel) but her dress and hair is like wow I am speechless...have to have.... These are very bad news for me especially right after the BJD summer event as well....my credit card company is going to have a heart attack when they see my bill this summer :S

Can't wait to own this beauties :). Happy to finally get an idea of what's coming. Would I have like to see some of them in other outfits? of course but is not a most. My main concerns are: I want Tiana to be smiling :D Mulan and Pocahontas faces to actually look like them. Only Mulan's and Pocahontas I own are the ones from Mattel. Disney has yet to get their face right for my liking. Maybe not so much their mold but their make-up. If not I will probably be changing their heads lol I want accessories hehe... As for the designs my main ones being Tiana, Mulan, & Pocahontas are wearing my favorite dresses so I don't mind to have them repeated in different ways ^^ Trouble for my wallet I really like Aurora :). About her bottom skirt going from grey maybe light purple to purple. It reminds me of me watching I love Lucy in black and white and then bang first episode in color her red hair(didn't know she was a redhead) through me off at first then I liked it and adapted LOL. I have yet to see Sleeping Beauty :) Now I feel I should get all five so I have the complete set (replaced Snow White for the D23 Snow).

I am so worried for this series. I'm sure all of them will be beautiful, but the Cinderella in particular is gorgeous! I may just have to buy the whole set because with all the scalpers and the hype of limited edition dolls I'm worried about even getting one. I may just have to get in as much work hours as possible and buy the whole set!

One good thing about pre-ordering the set is that disneystore.com doesn't charge you until the dolls ship. And pre-orders are what 2-4 months before all dolls get released?

That's true! I got to preorder my le Anna in January and didn't have to pay for her till she was released in March

Aurora's legs were like that too! I always thought it looked like she was wearing nylons while going barefoot.

Those journals provide a much better picture of the designs - and I'm just speechless at how wonderful they look! While I hoped for better outfits for Tiana and Mulan I'm still very pleased with the artwork and again I can't stress how amazing Aurora looks!

Gah! What's going on with Naveen's face??!!

Also... Phillip and Prince Charming are pretty much new characters at this point. They don't resemble their actual designs at all. :(
But Aurora is still the star of this series. They did a good job with her.

I'm also starting to see what people like about Cinderella.
But Mulan and Tiana were just big disappointments to me. And I am interesting in seeing if they will last longer.

At least Mulan has things that are different on her dress, Tiana has nothing new. It's the same old dress, with creepy Naveen.

Oh, I forgot to talk about the journals.
They are not bad, but I just don't like the pattern that borders the couples. I think it's unnecessary and just ruins the image. :/

A good thing to keep in mind with this though is that while some people don't get charged until dolls ship, depending on the credit cad provider or bank, they do put a hold on the funds. So, basically they debit the amount, but put it back after a couple of days. So if the money is not in the account, a person can face possible overdraft fees or even an order a cancellation.

I have seen this happen to people and it is very sad. It would be completely heartbreaking to think one has the item they ordered only to be told that their order was cancelled.

Tiana is the only one that looks.. Not different. I was expecting SOME sort of embelishments or some sort of embroidery.. But it truly does just look like her same old dress

I've always said I would get Cinderella from this series and possibly Aurora. Still think I'll get those two, but hopefully there won't be too much of a scramble to get them. I don't want to order all 5 just to guarantee to get those 2. Worst comes to worst, I have an extra Ariel from last year that I can try and trade for a Cinderella. Hope the dolls look as nice as the artwork!

i would love if tiana if she is in her waitress outfit or blue ballgown and naveen on his outfit when he arrive in new orleans with his guitar on.but i dont know how to make the waitress outfit fancier

If the dolls are posed like the art, then I think the Cinderella set will be the most dynamic. But, based on the way they translated to dolls last year, I'll hold my judgement until I see them in plastic form. I hope they don't give Tiana that worried expression. Really, though, I think these are all pretty much what we expected.
