We need to appreciate the dolls more, I think, than just focus on the negatives.

Agree with you 100%.

all these dolls get tore to pieces and then once people have them in hand everyone likes them more. I think some of what's said is a little harsh. I for one am very happy and love her.
 
I'm very critical when it comes to these dolls because I know that they haven't reached their potential yet. Also sometimes I don't think it's fair to ask people to pay $120 for some of these dolls.
NONETHELESS, people who have worked on this doll did a great job on a number of things. Constructive criticism. ;)
I for one am preordering for my sister cause she liked her.

Agree with lordofanime's critique (most of it actually) and statement above. I do think she's pretty, I know people are complaining about her face mold looking like a Barbie, but I think it actually looks pretty accurate to the movie (I think though it might throw people off to see her with the blue-violet eyes when most of the movie she had dark eyes). Unfortunately with designers, you're going to please some people and disappoint others. But please don't think we are attacking the design just to troll everybody, there are elements that we genuinely like and others not so much. The way I see it is that at the price a collector would pay for her, they should be able to explore all the points that they don't like so they can come to a decision on whether or not they want to buy that doll. I know a lot of people get carried away with the hype and think that they should buy a doll they somewhat like in case they decide they want it later and have to spend a lot more above retail pricing to get it (which is a good plan, but just be prepared to deal with selling and such in the future if you don't like the doll). And sometimes dolls look much better in person than they do on the web site. I know when I ordered my March Anna, I was iffy on her, but when I saw her in person I absolutely loved her! And overall I think Aurora is done much better than Cinderella. I remember looking forward to Cindy as she was the first favourite of mine growing up and thought Snow White looked so gorgeous that she was going to be amazing. When I saw the pictures of her there was no doubt in my mind that I would not be getting her- I hated the colouring of her hair and dress, her face mold didn't look a thing like her, she had awful and big prom hair, and I loathed the bling going on on that dress. I do think, however, that Disney listens to our complaints on some level and uses those to construct better products because I think the dolls have really improved since Cindy's release, and in the upcoming DFDC set Cinderella has darker blond hair, not platinum.

Another point is that it should be a happy occasion no matter what if you like the doll because you know you want her, and those who critique are hopefully going to skip on her which gives collectors more opportunities to get her. As he mentioned above, lordofanime did not like the Elsa dolls. I own an Elsa doll and I love her, I think she's absolutely gorgeous. His critique of her doesn't bother me at all because we all have different tastes, and maybe what he perceives as a flaw is fine to me. I think that if you're going to design dolls, you have to expect that a lot of people are going to give harsh critiques, but that a lot of people are also going to love her and so you can take pride in your work that way. I don't think any of us want to come across as harsh, just that we are picky and we like to explain our observations and why we don't particularly like something.

I think the world is getting a bit soft in terms of expressing our distastes. People don't want to because it's considered mean. When I attended design school, we constantly had critiquing sessions and were encouraged to be vocal about things we didn't like because ultimately it helps the artist push their work to be a little bit better. The Disney Store is first and foremost a business, and they are out to make a profit. If they're going to charge $100 + for an item, it had better be better than decent. If we just go around saying that every item is lovely and awesome, they're not going to try and improve upon their upcoming designs, they're going to cut corners to save money and get sloppy. Ultimately (sorry, I ended up rambling for quite a bit there!), if you're a Sleeping Beauty fan and you love the LE Aurora doll, then that's great, nobody is trying to rain on your parade. If you don't like her, then I think a forum is a perfectly good place to discuss your concerns and dislikes so that collectors can come to a decision about whether or not to add her to their collection.
 
While I am disappointed in Aurora, I still think that what we got is better than nothing.

And Luna Ray, my main complaint with Elsa was with the material of her dress and the length of the cape. Still, I just got the chance to see her in person and yeh... She does look good just not as good as it could have been.

But I am grateful that Disney is continuing this line. :)

Fair enough :) (although can't tell if you're talking about the November or March one; I have the November one and I think she's perfect)

I am grateful they are continuing the line, and I know Disney will continue to make money from them. It's more that I do believe that the designers take into account some of our criticisms if enough people make them- my biggest example being Cinderella's hair being changed from platinum blond to a more movie accurate colour in the upcoming DFDC set. By letting them know what we, the consumers, don't like, they can avoid doing that for future dolls. If people are complaining the Disney Store isn't going to go "Well, they insulted the product so let's not make anymore of this popular line". They're going to sit down to think of ways to improve it.

And to be fair, I just saw a picture on the Disney Store instagram page where they had the photoshoot for the LE Aurora doll and I think she looks much better in that picture!
 
I think Aurora turned out really beautiful! :)

Although I agree with those that have said they wish Aurora was in blue, I do like that she will "stand out" against the other dolls, since she will be the first (and most likely only...unless they do my dream doll Charlotte!) doll in pink.

I also think her dress turned out really nice...I love the interesting sleeves and details from the waist up. I am not crazy about the embroidery on the skirt, but do like the pleating.

Overall I am pleased with how Aurora turned out. She is one of my favorite princesses so I am glad they didn't make her look cheap. From the pictures I don't think she will be my favorite doll from this line, but she is far from the worst. And these dolls ALWAYS look better in person. I would like to see a better picture of her in the box and the background used. From the picture it looks like a plain blue background but I'm sure that isn't the case. I don't debox so my main concern is how these dolls look as-is in the box. :)

I haven't been collecting the male dolls or villains from this line, but I am really curious how Maleficent turned out. I might have to get her as well! :anxious:
 
Hi all! Aurora will be my first 17" limited edition doll. I was wondering if you guys had any tips or tricks to be sure to get one at release date? I know I'd have to wake up at 3am for it :) Will she be shown on the main page? Or should I have the sleeping beauty section pulled up on my computer and keep refreshing it?

Look here for "link fairies", the links on the website are unreliable as the products don't pop up right away if you do a standard search

Should just be one per order like always, unless of course Disney changes it, but I have never seen them apply the per person per household rule before, only in the UK. The US usually limits these to per order as opposed to per person/household. But who knows they could have changed things up as a result of the Frozen hype.

So I'm gonna go off topic for a bit cause I have a question about D23 and I can't find anywhere else in the forum to ask.

So I just decided that I would go to next years D23 event and I just noticed that they made their tickets pre-sale to the fans about a week ago.
Am I too late? Have the tickets already sold out? If I missed on that pre-sale, do you guys suggest I just wait for the one after?

Any news on how the in-store preorders are going to go? I have never preordered in a store but figured I should give it a try since its before the online preorders.
 
I think I read someone mentioning it's just first comes, first served. So if your store has a line of five people and you're sixth in line, you'll get the sixth preorder (I'm not sure how many preorders stores gets).
 
Hm, are we going to get more infos on her price (is it official now the 119,95?)? I haven't seen any official announcement from Disney online? Also her release date? I thought they'd give us official infos or are we only getting them the day she is for preorder online?

"Advance tickets for D23 Expo 2015 will go on sale at D23Expo.com beginning August 14, 2014. D23 Members will receive special pricing on both one- and three-day tickets to the event, which is open to the general public. D23 Gold and Silver Members will also be entitled to early admission to the Expo show floor. D23 Charter Members will enjoy access to the Expo’s Charter Member Lounge. Members will also have an opportunity to purchase the Sorcerer Package, which provides a host of special benefits and amenities."

There are other D23 events which is what you might have seen...

Oh my goodness I was so unsure about her from the picture alone but after the video, I'm speechless and definitely getting her!! Thanks for sharing the video!!
 
Agreed that she looks much better in the video. I still hate all the rhinestones on the skirt- too blingy for my tastes, but her hair is absolutely gorgeous! And I love the details they put into the necklace and crown.
