I just had to share my sadness. Yesterday, I was the closest I've ever been to the Holy Grail of collections.

I saw this ad on Craigslist for a really nice collection for $800. I set up a meet with the guy and he calls me after I drove 45 minutes to see him that the original person who wanted to buy the set and didn't have contact with him for over a week overnighted a check for the whole collection. I couldn't just not see the pins, so I asked to just let me see them.

This pin collection would have secured a 21 year old for the next 10 years as far as pin trading goes. There were so many cast exclusives, LEs, ects that I lost count at 200. He was a really nice man and I told him that he should do the right thing and sell them to his original buyer, but it hurt so much to let this collection go. He gave me a couple of pins for my time, so it wasn't a total waste, but I'm always going to remember the Holy Grail of pin collections that never was...

Update: the other person was trying to scam him. Which is bad for him, but he was smart about it. So look out pin world! Here I come!

WOW! You got it after all? CONGRATULATIONS!!! You must, at least, post pictures!! Any TIGGERS or CINDERELLA pins in there?? I'd trade!!

You should pm anyone who wants to know the name of that "other buyer" who tried to scam your seller, in case he tries it on anyone else trying to sell their pins.

How thrilling for you! I have been blessed with two collections, a small one my Dad secured for me and then a much larger one I'm still trying to sort out. They have been such big blessings and so fun!

I'll be posting pictures tomorrow of the things for sale/ trade once I get everything straightened out!

I can't wait to see them all as well! Hehe! Once I make the money back I can think of a free game to play ;p

Congratulations! I can't wait to see what you acquired! The collection sounds AMAZING!

Am also curious about the scam though? Was it a bounced check or something?

As for the question in the title, no, I haven't, but I almost did not too long ago. It was only a small collection though, NOTHING like what you just got, but it basically had all of the pins that I was missing for one of my side collections all wrapped up in a neat little package. In the end I decided to pass, because I knew I wouldn't be able to see the pins "irl" first, and it was an expensive lot to deal with, but also because I figured it would take a lot of the fun out of finding the pins individually for myself. I like having stories and memories behind each pin, haha.

So great!!! Congratulations! I can't wait to see pictures!
Yes, I often thought about buying a collection.. but it's mostly a huge amount of money which I can't spend at once...sadly!
