It would be awful. I hope they don't do something like that. I know it's a great thought and would be an amazing doll, but maybe it is too soon because it would be too chaotic.

Well, I was going to go get Tink tomorrow but I'm not so sure now. I called when they were announced, and Pineville said they would definitely have them. Called a week ago, and they weren't sure how they were going to handle it (first come first serve or raffle). Called today, and they had no idea what I was talking about and had never heard of the dolls. Not really sure what to make of that. I might try calling again later, maybe someone different will answer.

This is seeming like a very strange release. I called a couple weeks ago and was told that they were for sure getting them in (store in canada), but to call back the next week to find out if it was first come or raffle. When I phoned last week, they told me they couldn't confirm that they were even getting them. And when my friend called yesterday, they told us they still didn't know, and to call back Monday afternoon.

My first go at getting a limited edition doll tomorrow. Gonna be queieng up from 8AM at my local UK store to see what happens

The reason Disney stores are being so weird about the Tinkerbell dolls is due to the cast member who leaked the picture of Tinkerbell a few weeks ago. Remember how everybody was saying they were screwed for posting it? Well they are. All the Disney Stores got notices about it and have been told not to release any more information unless told otherwise. Granted I don't think telling people how many dolls a store will be getting is a bad thing, everybody is just being careful now because of the cast member who leaked the picture.
Hope this clears things up a bit for everyone.

At the risk of sounding really stupid.... what does D23 stand for? Not heard of it, but then I am quite new to this

D23 is the official Disney fan club. It stands for Disney 1923 which is the year that Company Disney was founded by Walt.

ever other year the fan club runs an expo in Anaheim. They usually have all these exclusive news and merchandise at the event and it is considered the ultimate Disney fan event. The first line of designer dolls were sold at the expo as a preordered set and came with free lithographs for every preorder. It was also the only place that you were able to buy the original set of designer princess pins. They usually also sell an exclusive designer doll during each expo. The first was a silver Cinderella and last year was a golden snow. These are usually just a different color configuration to another designer doll being released but they have a smaller edition size hence is considered rarer.

I found out that my local DS has closed. So now the only one I can get to is a 2 hour round trip. I called them and they are getting the dolls, but didnt give out any more information. I wouldnt be able to get there until about 11AM tomorrow. Im going to try to call before to see if they have any left, but Im thinking its not going to be worth driving all that way if they are sold out by then.

Guess Ill be up late tomorrow night to get them online.

I called my store last week and they said the Tinkerbell dolls would be first come, first serve, but when I called today the CM said they didn't know how they were going to sell the dolls, maybe a raffle. I then called the store about an hour away from where my mom lives (in another state), and they won't give out any information there either, not even if they are selling the dolls.

Funny, both stores said pretty much the same exact thing -- they didn't have any information and I could try and call later. I understand they don't want to leak info but I don't see how just saying how many dolls they may have or how they are going to sell them really changes anything. I am so stressed now. I really didn't want to order online because Disney store shipping is horrible and I am afraid of getting a damaged doll, but I guess I may have to.

Gutted I was so excited for Tinkerbell but the money I was relying on to buy her with hasn't happened and I don't get paid till Thursday and then she will be long gone looks like I will be paying a fortune on eBay now!

Eek! My store said "5 or less" gah!! I wish they would just say how many too! So that I know when I show up if I can get one, or if I'm already too late based on the people in line.

I called my local store and they kept saying I don't know to my question of how many? Them the cm said she didn't even know what time they go on sale and the it's first come, not a raffle. I hope that I don't waste my time going to the store......I hope nobody else leaks anything because it's totally ruining it for us collectors:/

I'm really not expecting them to go. I've been looking around on eBay and I've noticed that the "pre-orders" people are posting on eBay aren't going for very much now. I'm actually thinking about not getting them since money is tight and I'll just get them on eBay next payday... I'm not sure.

As mentioned by Hausofde-vil the reason why the Disney stores are being so paranoid is because they were all reprimanded as a result of what that one employee did when he leaked the image of the designer Tinker Bell doll. As a result all CMs are being told not to say anything. To be honest I think it is fair what happened as it is Disney's way of punishing the public in general for being so impatient.

I agree amm3 that it doesnt hurt for them to at least disclose how the dolls are going to be released as some people have to take the time off work etc but I dont think they necessarily need to disclose how many dolls they will be receiving. To be honest I would just go to your local store as early as you can and if you are able to buy the doll then that is great. If not then at least you will have the chance to do so online.

I just think this release is getting out of hand and am worried about the repercussions it will cause for future releases as Disney may start coming down really hard on the CMs which is not really fair for them because really they are getting punished for our impatience. I think we all just need to relax a bit, I honestly dont think Tink will sell out super fast, yes she will sell out probably within several hours but really even if she was to appear on the secondary market I dont think she will be that much more expense than retail anyway. I think the more people panic the more this will just push the price of the doll up as resellers will take advantage of the panic. Also the nosier we get the more frustrated and annoyed the Disney store will get and as a result it will affect any future releases.

Personally I think it will be first come first serve as it is not a normal designer release so just make sure that you are ready and at your store when you are able to get there. Again they are fairies and not princesses so will not be as popular but then again they are designers which generally tend to sell fast and with all the hype from Frozen there is more of a demand for these dolls. Still with that all being said I dont see these selling out as fast as previous releases like the DFDC Ariel and Eric or Belle and Beast.

Gutted I was so excited for Tinkerbell but the money I was relying on to buy her with hasn't happened and I don't get paid till Thursday and then she will be long gone looks like I will be paying a fortune on eBay now!

Maybe someone here would be willing to buy her for you and keep it until you have the money

I wonder if Disney will ever go the route of just releasing a booklet at the beginning of the year with images of the dolls that they're releasing with release dates.
That would SUCK! as a lot of people would know about them and the dates, but CM would be safe from our impatience.

Well, I called my store again and they said it was first come, first serve, so I will just get there early tomorrow. My mom was going to try and get one for me at her store in case I couldn't get to the store here, but now that I know it is not a raffle in the middle of the day I think I have a good chance so I told her not to bother. I was mostly worried about the number at my mom's store as I didn't want her to drive an hour there and back during rush hour to find she didn't have a chance because they only had one or two dolls - it wouldn't have been worth the hassle.

I do feel for the CM's -- they must be inundated with calls and I understand they can't say anything so I don't blame them at all. They have to follow the rules. It is just frustrating trying to plan!

I'm only worried the dolls will sell out because of scalpers and like Polaris said, all of the hype. I really don't want to deal with ebay if I don't get Tink this time around. I am super-new to doll collecting and I remember just a month ago going online to look at past releases to purchase and the prices weren't that outrageous. I may be imagining it, but it seems as if just in the last month prices for ALL dolls have skyrocketed, I guess because of Frozen. It is a shame really. I can't pay $400-700 for every past doll I'd like to add to my collection so it looks like I am going to have to concentrate on new releases if I can get them.

I'm 90% sure this release will be like the beginning of the DFDC line or like the Villain line. There's an interest and people will buy them, as well as scalpers, but they're simply not princesses. Not only are Elsa and Anna princesses from a new film but they're from a film that's done astronomically well. I expect this to be more like the 17" LE Merida where it was purchased but still around for some time. She still goes for retail on eBay much like Wedding Rapunzel. Sure there's been more hype since then but I just don't see them going all that fast online at least. Look at Ursula, Eric, and Lady Tremaine as well.

Good, I really hope not. I just want Think. This is technically my first official doll release. I kind of stumbled into the March Frozen release, by walking into my store at 5pm and getting the second to last set (and not really knowing what I was getting myself into! LOL) so I don't know how it usually works. By starting this hobby at the height of the Frozen craze I'm thinking it is always a mad rush, but it is nice to hear from more experienced doll collectors that it is not always the case.

Well as much as I really want Tinkerbell, I may have to skip out on her too. I did the math and if I buy her Wednesday, then I may have to cancel my one of the Frozen dolls I ordered because I wont have enough funds once they come out, and I want both. So I am afraid to risk it.
