2014 Designer Dolls - Fairytale Collection Part II
I wondered about that too! Since it originated from Tumblr, they pointed it at Pin Forum, but I'm unsure... No names revealed, that's for sure.

Saw this as well and was like what the heck?! I don't find anything either, so it's dubious at least.

On another note, I love that they really did Aurora's Briar Rose outfit =)
I'm actually more interested though in what the dolls will really look like in comparison to their art. As nice as the art always looks the dolls themselves might still be not so great...
From the artwork I think Tiana's and Cinderella's dresses have the biggest chance to look REALLY fabulous if done right and with the right material (no satin!!!). Damn, I feel like I'm going to have to save up big time.
Right now, I feel like I'm definitely getting Aurora, probably Tiana and Cinderella. Mulan not, though she seems nice, she's not my fav character. Pocahontas will very much depend on how she looks finished.

I have never gotten a full set of limited edition dolls before, but its very tempting here lol. I think they all look beautiful in their own ways, but I hope full images that actually show the princes and are of much better quality appear soon. I wish Mulan was in her dress at the end of the film, but I think she still looks very beautiful and being my favorite princess I have to get her. I also wanna get Cindy because she is another favorite of mine and I am seriously digging that hair! If I get the both of them, I will have all three of my favorite princesses including the Belle from the first wave.

Of course we also gotta see some images from the actual dolls themselves. The artwork alone makes me want them but the dolls themselves could look different in certain aspects. Like how Snow White's hair was braided in doll form when it wasn't in the actual artwork.

Oh boy. Right after Comic Con too. I have the first five so I need to complete the set. Going to be another expensive summer.

I found it on tumblr :/

LOL yeah I know that you weren't the source of the information, just the first one to share it, but yeah it is crazy how fast the information has spread all over the internet and once it gets on that limited edition doll facebook page you know it is viral.

It is not a bad thing but it just gives Disney another reason to try and enforce stricter policies. For some reason they do like to keep releases a secret from us and I don't blame them as it does build hype, but usually having information leaked and shared generally results in Disney clamping down on future releases making them harder for collectors, scalpers for some reason seem to always be able to get more than one doll and yet collectors cannot and I think some of it does come down to information being leaked earlier than it should. Resulting in Disney making it harder for collectors but easier for scalpers to buy these items.

It also builds more hype around them resulting in scalpers thinking that it is a money maker so they will buy multitudes of the item leaving none for the collectors and then will try reselling it to them at a higher price. It is all about being smart with the information you know and staying ahead of the scalpers. Not to mention that Disney generally tends to blame CMs (some of whom are part of this forum) for leaks when in some cases it may not be them at all, so it is also about looking out for others and respecting that working for Disney is their livelihood.

Like I keep saying at the end of the day does knowing about these releases 2 months in advance make a difference as opposed to knowing about them two weeks in advance? I mean we know that they will be coming out so it is just a matter of saving money before hand and we generally know they are being released in August and really knowing about that earlier just means that you have a longer wait because they will still be released at the same time regardless of when you find out about it.

I'm surprised we got a leak this early, but like Polaris said it doesn't make much of a diff as to when you see it; however, it is nice to know what we're getting!

I knew Aurora was going to be my fave because she's my favorite princess, but I didn't think she'd look THAT good - I'm seriously impressed. I'm used to being let down by the majority of Aurora products and so I'm extremely happy with how she looks. I'm really liking Cinderella's just because I love seeing her with different hairstyles. I'm not sure how well it will look on the actual doll, but we will see! More than anything I'm a bit disappointed with Tiana - I understand that her bayou gown is her trademark gown but this was a chance to have Tiana in something different for once.

I think she means it's a shame they got leaked. And I agree.

But they look very nice. I can't really tell until I see the dolls themselves, though, because I really love the illustration for the Tangled fairytale couple but the dolls' eyes are a bit creepy.

I agree about the leaking of the photos and all it does is create hype and anxiety. Why can't people just let the images wait until the online proper information release. It's a shame because I feel like there are more and more scalpers with every release. Furthermore, I don't want it to get to the point that Disney just surprise releases all their limited edition items, due to a few people not following the employment rules.

That's how I feel about Mulan. I'm very disappointed that they went with her matchmaker outfit - she doesn't have any scenes with Shang in that outfit at all, so I dislike the fact that they went with that outfit just because it's her most iconic.
Nevertheless, I'm of course excited for this release and I really want all the dolls if possible, I just fear how hard it will be being able to pre-order the whole set, I hope the price of the full set will put some people off
I like Cinderella's hair and wonder how it will look on the actual doll.
Aurora is beautiful, as always And happy to see that she's in the Briar Rose outfit - since the LE 17" will probably have her in her princess gown.

Thank you
Ilia already sent a pm with the link though.

Now I've seen the full image with princes:
What happened to charming ?! Way to dark skin (please stop with spray tanning, lol) and lighter hair ? that's odd. I like others more now.

Oh my gosh, you're right! I didn't even notice but his skin is as dark as Tiana's almost or Pocahontas'!
That puts a damper on my enthusiasm. Hopefully the doll won't be suntanned

Rose! I can not believe this, I dreamed Aurora would be in her Briar Rose outfit but I did not believe it. But dreams apparently really do come true  I love everything about her dress. Phillip also seems to be wearing his correct black and brown outfit. Obviously her background is pink, apparently there must always be something pink with Aurora merchandise. Now I am just worried about her hair. I think because Mulan was put in her matchmaker outfit that we got Briar Rose. It would have been nice if this could have happened without Mulan sacrificed to become the pink princess. Maybe this happened because Aurora and Phillip have a more clear fairytale moment in the woods that Mulan and Shang talking with each other. But since Mulan looks great and most people do not even remember her blue outfit I rather have this way.

But even tough Aurora´s outfit looks great, her face looks a bit strange, but I am not really interested in notebooks and other things like that. But others might be. I think that Tiana and Mulan have the best looking art for notebooks.

I like Cinderella´s hair in the concept art but I think that this could end up like Snow´s hair with the doll having a very different look. Perhaps she will just have low bun or low ponytail. Since we got Rose I am not complaining about the color of the dress. And Allie.Pin and Ilia89 I noticed first Cinderella´s Prince hair that looks brown even tough it should be black.

I'm disappointed a little, too but her matchmaker outfit is actually an outfit for a bride so I was expecting her in that outfit. But I really like the picture, they look like they are really close, looks like a great moment to me.
The others are nice, too, Aurora looks playful, Cinderellas hair looks interesting. Now I'm really curious, how the actual dolls will look.

I am by no means a diehard. I started my first Disney Doll collection with the Designer Princess line and only purchased my favorite dresses, at that! Before the Designer Princesses, I was strictly a barbie collector with around 30 dolls in my collection, the most expensive in the $400-$600 range but the average under $150. Once the Villains came out however, I was a goner. I purchased all but one of the villains and all of the fairytale couples, two of which I had to suffer eBay for because they sold out too quick. Eventually, I discovered there had been a whole slew of dolls released before the Designer sets. I continually track them on ebay trying to get lucky on Alice, the Red Queen, Snow White and one or two others but so far they are just too expensive for me.

I didn't discover this forum until I had my heart broken with the February release of Anna and Elsa. I knew nothing about the November dolls so I missed them entirely. But I found the Disney Store blog around Christmas and knew the two in February were coming. I waited up until 3 AM on release day for them to appear on the website. When they didn't show up by 3:30, I went to bed thinking I would get them at 7 AM when I got up for work. Of course, gone. And exorbitantly priced on Ebay. I was so angry, I called the Disney Store and complained. They were no help of course. Couldn't tell me why they didn't show up live for me. When I found this forum, and the Facebook page, I realized that insiders must have bought the dolls out before the pages even went live to the public using the links posted here.

Now I am ready! I'm fairly selective about my dolls, only dropping cash on the truly exceptional designs (IMO). In this set, I may go out for Mulan and Cinderella since both character and costume appeal to me.

Some things I noticed while reading this thread and others:

1) Make it Blue! Make it Pink!
Just a few minutes on this forum reveals the debate is alive and well. It always seemed quite obvious to me that Disney places Aurora in her pink dress so that she stands out from Cinderella. After all, the dresses are similar at first glance and both princesses are blonde. It's an easy call to make. Of course, they never put her in her peasant clothes because she's a princess and should be regal at all times. For those lovers of the blue Aurora, sorry, Cindy already has that look.

2) The ethnic princesses are everyone's least favorites.
Mulan, Pocahontas, Jasmine and Tiana are at the bottom of most people's lists. I find this really curious since these princesses seem to have some of the best developed personalities. Sassy, strong, brave, hard-working. Maybe that's just it then. Strong princesses ruin the fairy tale? The classic romance with a damsel in distress is nostalgic for so many of us and harder to achieve when the princess has more than 18 lines of dialogue (Aurora). We want our princesses to be lovely, demure, gentle and sweet (and sadly it seems, white). The theory doesn't fit universally. Merida is quite strong and seems to be popular among girls but not so much among collectors. Her dolls are cheap on eBay. I'm interested to see which princesses become popular as the next generation of girls grows up.

3) Disney is not interested in pleasing the die hard collectors.
They release the most popular characters and only the most popular characters in their most popular dresses and drive up demand by keeping production numbers low. The fact the Aurora is not in her pink dress is probably simply because Mulan is in pink and Cinderella is in blue. They didn't want two dolls of the same color in the release. There will never be a designer Jane Porter. But it is fun to imagine our favorite under-represented characters getting the star treatment.

P.S. I absolutely hate that Disney forces us to drop upwards of $1000 at a time on these dolls because they stupidly release all the dolls over a very short period of time. We have no recourse and it's infuriating. If we don't buy them the second they come out, we will be at the mercy of scalpers on eBay and for most of us, that means we won't ever get a chance at them. Dolls should be released more gradually over the course of a year rather than 6 dolls in 2 months. Thanks for timing your doll releases with my pay check cycle Disney, big help. No, really.

I never saw Aurora's peasant dress as being purple. Isn't it more of a hazy brown/gray? Maybe the slightest hint of dusty purple, but it's really more brown. I would have loved to have seen her with a really rich version of that color instead of a very "Rapunzel purple" shade. Browns can be luxurious. My wedding was in all browns.

Why is it heartbreaking? I for one am happy as I was dying to see them lol. Cinderella looks better than expected! Aurora looks gorgeous as usual and will be the only one I "Must have" I like how they incorporated the purple shawl into her dress to give a spot of colour. I would have liked if her dress was the correct lengh and not to the floor but that's a small nitpick. Super excited!
