Hrmm.. So, when Tiana comes out, will the merchandise for ALL the princesses be out? I don't want to miss out on getting the Cinderella Journal
 
Yes I think when Tiana comes out, all the princess merchandise will be out. I don't think the Uk got much last year. Don't think they had the journals or mugs. Hope they do this year.
 
Well, didn't the very first leak come from France? So I'm assuming that all the merchandise will come out there too.
 
Ugh, I'm already getting extremely nervous about the preorder. I hate the stress of ordering online. :anxious:

At least if I miss out this time, I know I'll have another chance to get the dolls individually, but I REALLY don't want to have to go through that every week...

Okay, just needed to vent my anxiety somewhere! No one else understands!

Same. Can't stand the idea of having to try to get dolls every week - I'm already anxious about Tuesday enough as it is.
 

My biggest concern is how the site is going to handle the traffic. The past two times I've tried getting limited edition items on the store, the site has slown down so much that either it won't update on time or it crashes and I miss out on the merchandise. I'm only going for two of the dolls, Cinderella and Mulan, which seem to be the most popular, so I'm terrified I won't be able to get them due to the website's traffic issues. And I'm also worried about scalpers, which have made me paranoid about ordering any type of limited edition Disney merch these days.
 
I'm also going to try to get the set. But I will be out of state that day. I hope the hotel wi-fi won't fail me.

I really think you shouldn't stress about the set. I think the reason why the first set sold out really quickly was because a lot of the sets were allocated to the D23 attendees. So since there is no event this year, I think that the set will last a little longer. And I'm actually interested in seeing how many of the complete sets they have. I can't imagine it'd be less than 500.

This is how I think the pattern is going to go. From fastest selling out to slowest:
Cinderella
Aurora
Mulan
Pocahontas
Tiana

So I really think you guys should stop stressing. I think Polaris mentioned that these dolls do end up underperforming in the secondary market. And that's largely because $130 is too much for this set. And most people and scalpers realize that. People are barely willing to spend $130 on a brand new one from the store, so why would they bother paying more on eBay?
 
The point of pre-ordering the set of dolls is so that you get a set of 5 dolls with the same number Except, it didn't work out last year cuz of a mess-up with Disney not holding back those numbered Snow Whites.

I hope it's not needed to stress.
Just that so far all the predictions from fans concerning how long it will take for the dolls 17" dolls to sell out have been a bit wrong.
Like when people said Aurora would last at least an hour - but she was gone in 15 minutes.

I hope for a smooth experience tomorrow.
Suddenly I have a lot of things on my plate tomorrow and days to come, so I would like the pre-order to be a positive experience.
So far I haven't missed out on a pre-order (Anna & Elsa + Aurora) - but it still doesn't stop me from being nervous.
To be honest - I hate buying these dolls. I love owning them, but buying them is another story.
 
Personally, while I love the limited edition title, I seriously think that Disney needs to rethink about this.
What I would do is open up a pre-order window for like an hour or 30 minutes. "Pre-order the LE doll of this character. The edition number will be revealed after the pre-orders have gone through. Limit the dolls to one per person per household. So for example, if 4,359 people ordered it online, they make 641 more to go to the stores and then call the edition a 5,000 one.

Another thing is, can the store cross check their addresses with the scalpers' addresses on eBay? I guess they can't cause that would be an invasion of privacy.

Of course, the easiest thing to do for disney is not make these anymore. But I would buy them if they weren't LE. I know that some people here like the idea of it being limited, but honestly.. I just want to get the doll themselves.

And there's always the "These dolls are now $250". Which will not only prevent scalpers, but also help other scalpers. Higher price = higher secondary market inflated prices.

This is exactly how I feel. I get somewhat nervous trying to purchase at the store but I especially hate purchasing online. Every time I've ever tried to purchase hard to get tickets or anything limited edition, it is usually gone by the time my page refreshes. And it's true, the dolls have been selling out a lot faster than every one has been predicting.

Anyway, good luck to everyone trying for the preorder tonight. I'll just be glad when it's over!
 

Sadly I don't think we can ever truly get rid of scalpers. If we get rid of them, then only more will come and take their place. I'm not placing blame on Frozen or anything, but since Frozen's overwhelming success, I think more of these eBay sellers began to realize how valuable and profitable Disney merchandise is these days. Some of this stuff is worth a lot of money down the road, and they know people will pay for some of the prices they are asking for.

I think the night Tiana comes out will give us an idea of what we are dealing with. How quickly she sells will tell us if this is going to be a nightmare or not because we all seem to agree that she seems like she will be the slowest to sell out.

I think a better measure would be Pocahontas. That way, if scalpers do end up getting most of Tiana and she doesn't sell out within the week, they might give up on Pocahontas.

Based on the popularity the I measured before, I just realized that this could all the way opposite. Tiana could sell out first because she's the first in line. She is the testing ground for this set.
 

If the designer line history is any indication, the first doll seemed to sell out the slowest. It took nearly a week for Snow White & her prince to sell out. Rapunzel & Flynn took about a week as well (she may have been gone by the weekend though). Jasmine & Aladdin were the first doll to sell out within 3 days. Belle lasted most of the morning of her release and Ariel was gone within an hour. With the Villains, Maleficent was the first to sell out but she was still around when the Evil Queen was released. Those were the only two dolls that were never put on sale (maybe the Evil Queen was in that category as well but I don't think so). I thought Snow White or Ariel crashed the disneystore website in the first line.

These dolls just are not as popular as the Limited Edition dolls. I think Cinderella and Aurora will probably sell out within an hour or so but you should be able to get Tiana, Pocahontas, and Mulan for most of the morning of their release if not a couple days.

Talking about scalpers, never go look at the highest selling frozen items on eBay.
Or you might end up seeing the listing of a classic Elsa doll with a broken hand being marketed as a "one of a kind" "only one like it online" and trying to sell the defective $17 doll for $1,999.95
And you'd also have to pay $12.95 for shipping.
