Hi All!!! By any chance did Disney discuss anything about 2015 Pin Trading Nights/Events besides the annual event??? In WDW we really hadhardly ANY pin trading monthly or bimonthly or even quarterly events here??? With CA having not only their events but they also have the DSF events....at least it is something. Not sure what happened on the WDW side but there are so so many of us that were disappointed....

I understand that Disney will tell everyone that it has to do with securing a location - but, this is tough for us to understand after all this time - their are budgets to be agreed upon and securing a location (even if it needs to be moved for a bigger function) should be a done deal way in advance....

We have been in this hobby since the beginning - and we are so so sad to see so many of the original collectors have moved on due only to pure frustration. Not only is this hobby the fun of collecting, BUT it has brought together so so so many friendships that we cherish and all because of this little piece of metal....now don't get me wrong

Not complaining - just passionate about the principal of Disney putting in a little more effort and bringing back some of our pin trading events......

We used to have them EVERY WEEK, not once a week either......the new traders never had experienced this, so a lot of them do not miss it - which I think is what Disney banked on.....the old timers would move on and then they got the next group with half the events.....sad - very sad :( Between Disney taking away the events - they even took away SCOOP - he made it feel like a family and people knew the etiquette of Pin Trading - Disney took away his pin talks and not only did it not communicate the manners of pin trading with each other, but it did not set the guidelines for trading with Cast Members - so there are so many new collectors that just do not apply the manner aspect with CM's that they should and then the CM's get upset....it was a domino theory that NEVER needed to happen and Disney created the atmosphere.....It is such an easy fix and there could be so so much for EVERYONE to sincerely enjoy!!!!! Our hobby that Disney created years ago, is one of the BEST THINGS they ever did and would love if some of the OLD would become NEW AGAIN

Thanks for the vent - was starting to downsize a lot of my collection and started to get very sad and was thinking of how GREAT the past was in our hobby with Disney....

Hoping and Praying that we have some kind of good news for 2015!!! We were promised at our past events I think if I am correct bimonthly which was a stretch to begin with - to some of them never happening.....so I am hoping for some good news.....

I missed the talk - so any info would be awesome!!! THANKS TO ALL OF YOU!!!

CA also has D23 events at WDI about 3 times a year and then the main D23 every other year, not to rub it in. FL does get Star Wars Weekend though. I wish we'd have better pin events here though. Quantity doesn't always equal quality. DSF events are full of sharks and newbs. It's a feeding frenzy and tons of newbs overvaluing their new stuff and not even knowing about the older stuff. DLR events are ok, but I never do a lot of trading there. Maybe the most ever was like 10 pins.

DLR needs a 3-day event with legit trading boards full of AP's & PP's like FL gets. We have had the stupid events where pins were part of it, like the Tiki Room and NBC. But those events the pins were 100% the theme, neither of which I cared for. The last event that was decent was the Sci-Fi Academy and that was when I started collecting and didn't go to the event. I'm still waiting for a pin event with good pins crossing a lot of genre's and generic enough not to be pidgeon-holed into someting as narrow as Tiki or NBC.

Maybe I am forgetting but were there any PTN pins even previewed at the event? There were no hidden mickeys previewed either. I expect PTNs in the U.S. have gone the way of the dodo (and I don't mean a caucus race!).

At the presentation, they made it clear that there would be no more PTN for 2014. They also said they are "working" on them for 2015. So, don't get your hopes up...

I agreee with Unibear, the 2 CM "Management people" really danced around the question about further PTN's in WDW. They did say that 2014 was finished and that they were "working on" 2015 - with no commitment that they would happen at all.

DTD in CA released a trading night vinylmation (Scrooge) yesterday.
DTD in FL released a trading night vinylmation (Alice) yesterday too.

DTD in CA released a trading night vinylmation (Mike) last Friday!

So two weeks in a row for DTD in CA... how many more vinylmations do they have left?

I can understand the disapointment as it seems that Disney is no longer going to contribute to the hobby and let it collapse on itself. Do you mean Scoop is no longer at pin events or also on Main Street?

As Rasputin says, its hard to get CM's to work these events at times. This is why the old "Disneyana Conventions" disappeared after 2002 (they ran from 1992-2002) - to much moaning and groaning and abuse of the working CM staff.

Suggestion - Disney should draw from the ranks of Event attendees to "work/volunteer" at the Pin Event. This is VERY common for Anime conventions that I have attended with my daughter over the years. You then get people who are event knowledgeable, willing to talk with you, and can ANSWER questions, and WANT TO BE THERE.

A few free pins/gifts, free/reduced Event fees, and POOF problem solved.

Scoop has not been at an Event in at least two years. I think they are tired of all the complaining and bickering. I bet if there are 1000 people at an Event 200 complain to a cast member about something. I think the same thing happened with Disneystore.com. They get worn out with all the drama.

I know that the cast members I spoke with at the event that are not part of event services volunteer to work at the event. So they are paid to work it, and it is something they want to do.
