I was re-arranging my pins yesterday and putting my Nightmare Before Christmas pins in my new pin-book. I noticed that one that I got several years ago, with Lock, Shock & Barrel on it, has "First Release" printed on the back. I remembered that when I got it, I was especially excited and thought that it was some rare pin because it also had it printed on the card (I don't have the backer card anymore, unfortunately). I don't believe the pin was an LE, either.

Pin 71479: DLR - Lock, Shock, & Barrel Pin

As I assumed, just a simple rack pin? But does it make it any more valuable if it has "First Release" on the back? Thanks in advance for any answers or suggestions!

I'm not 100% sure but I remember Disney was putting that on some of their pins for a while. To me, it was just a marketing gimmick. As you know, when rack pins sell out quickly they'll just make more. So this "first release" on the back of the pin meant is was created in the first batch... just like a first edition book. They might be 2% more valuable than a regular rack pin but not by much. But if you had someone's grail pin with 'first release' on the back, then that's something to factor into the trade. Not sure if Disney is still doing this anymore, I haven't noticed them in a while.

I'm gonna assume that this Lock Shock & Barrel pin isn't on anyone's grail list... but you never know!
