I want to do a whole bunch of these "series discussions" and I need your help.

I need suggestions for:
  • what series to discuss.
  • what types of info you would like to see in each one.
  • Do you want to see a series discussion about a completed series that won't be getting more pins?
  • OR would you rather only discuss series in depth that are current, with upcoming pins?

As always, my topics tend to have my personal "psycho spin" on things. And I will be trying valiantly to make them entertaining. More than just dry boring factoids. :)

So far I have started 2.
Villains countdown, 13 series. ((WDW exclusive))
Window to the Magic series ((DLR/DCA exclusive))

I have started tackling the Piece of history <PoH> series, but seeing as it started in 2005, that is going to take forever. It wont be ready to post for a couple weeks.

So I guess I have 2 questions for you all::
  1. Do you want to see more of these?
  2. will you help me by providing your opinions?

Thank you!!!

Suggested series and sets for discussions:
  • Mickeys all American pin festival
  • DA sets
  • DS.com sets
  • WDI sets and series'
  • Framed sets
  • Older GWP and PWP series'

I think old and new are both equally informative. The older series discussions will shed light on pins that many newer folks don't know much about. Maybe DS.com / DA Princesses, Tink's, Stitch for example. Then newer ones like PTD, WDI Sorcerer Hat's, POH, and the like so they can learn what will be popular and make a better trader.

hmmm DA sets might be a very good idea!! And this is definitely an attempt to show our newer trade buddies out there that the new stuff is not the ONLY awesome stuff. :)

For instance, did anyone really know that the series I 2005 WDW PoH series on average has over 200 wanting and fewer than 20 trading? I was floored when i realized that! Inof like this will be in each discussion.

I think these threads are a great idea for the forum. I noticed the posting has slowed down since there hasn't been much talk about new releases, which usually drives discussion. I think many people come to these forums to learn and talk about the actual pin itself and not just about what time to line up for a release.

I love markheardjr's idea about talking about the older releases too as new collectors, like myself, may not be aware of these pins but there are still traders who have them for trade.

I love these ideas, and it is nice to have something to talk about! I think doing a lot of the older ones would be a good way to get people that don't know about them to know a little more about these pins. I'm interested in the POH discussion though!

Also, pwp that DLR did. I have the Pinocchio, Little Mermaid, Haunted Mansion. Maps or frame series from WDW where you went around getting pins and upon completion a completer pin. I also enjoyed the Mickeys All American Pin Festival (took 5years to complete). Maybe a pin completist and why for example, I don't remember their ID but they collect cast only pins, extremely rare.

I like the two that you've already started and would like to see some for older stuff like DA and DS.com. It seems many young traders/sellers only care about the very latest releases and totally ignore the gorgeous pins of the past.

I am starting to realize that doing all these series and set discussions is going to turn me into a pin expert of sorts....

Boy have I got my work cut out for me!!!:anxious:

Whatever you have a particular interest in will be great for you to start threads for and I'm sure people with similar interests will love those. DA and DS.com sets could be fun. PTDs are always popular these days. Yes, you will now be considered the expert! :)
