First off sorry if this has been covered before. I searched the forum posts and can't seem to find the answer.
Does Disney use or have they ever used pin backs other than Mickey's head? If you are aware of a post here on the fourm that covers this PLEASE let me know. I'm trying to give myself a crash course in the art of pin collecting.

Thanks for your time!
Mark

Some of the older cast pins and the old disney pins just had the pinch clasp style backings on them...

Overall, they've mostly used the black mickey pinbacks, and they became much more standard in 1999 when official Disney Pin Trading began. Before that, and occasionally since then, they have used metal butterfly clasps, but this is more commonly seen in framed sets.

Also, a few years back they came out with some novelty pin backs.

These were sold to guests just as a case of pinbacks.

Great info!, thank you both for the replies and photos. My crash course is moving right along!

Thanks Again!
Mark

Also, sometimes they have used black rubber backs (same material as the current mickey-head backs), except it is just a small round circle, with the handle like the mickey heads have. I have also seen yellow ones of the same style.

According to Dizpins news archives, the Mickey shaped pin back made it's 2nd appearance in Sept 2001 http://www.dizpins.com/archives/2001/2001september_1.htm

Before the start of pin trading, pins either had a metal clasp, or were broach style. A few months after the start of pin trading until the Mickey heads came out, most pins used plain black rubber backs.
