Anyone ever get like super frustrated with pin collecting??
The frustration is totally normal. And I'm oversimplifying here, but: Yes, you will get another chance. It may take a while (cue @hopemax and her patience spiel, ha ha ha). But the cosmos provides when the time is right. Or it provides something better, and you'll realize you didn't spend the $$$ right now because X is about to happen and you need those funds (hopefully something good, but the cosmos does what it does).
Yeah, no.People don't spent Toad grail money without it also being their Toad grail. We always cheer on everyone else getting their grail even if it's one we want, and maybe the buyer isn't a DPF person, but we can cheer them on just the same. The next one that comes around won't be attracting the attention of that buyer because they already got one. Opportunity to buy lower, next time!
I too missed out on something I really want that is truly rare and HTF (not a pin, something else) because it was listed and purchased literally in the 90 minutes I was NOT obsessively checking eBay anyway.
So I’ve come to realize that, for the most part, collecting Mr. Toad is collecting backlog. Maybe you get 5 new pins a year, hopefully a few more on an anniversary year, but that’s it. Once you complete that back catalog, it’s done for all intents and purposes since the new ones won’t be very difficult to track down.
I’ve always said that half of the fun of pin collecting is in the chase, not the capture. And I’ve always known that it’s a long distance pursuit, not a sprint.
So, with that in mind, I will continue to enjoy the pursuit of those final 3.
And if you need me, this is what I’m doing on eBay at the moment. CTRL + F5
This keeps happening to me with my other collection, James Avery sterling silver charms. They are highly popular and collectible where I am from and some of the retired pieces go for crazy prices. I keep missing out on my last few grail charms, but I am a believer that most things will come back around. I hope you find your grails soon!

Wasn’t James Avery Uncle Phil?
