Hey all,

So I've noticed I am redefining my pin collection over time. The one area of my collections that I truly do not know what to do with are the Artist Proof and Pre-Production Pins. I must have over 50 of these pins, some are limited edition, some are not. I realize it's hard to place a value on an AP/PP pin, so just wanted to ask:

1. What do you do with AP/PP pins?

2. What would you trade them for?

3. What else you got to say about it? LOL

Here's my AP/PP Collection:

It's funny/weird. I like AP/PP pins also, and have some for trade, but for some odd reason, the trades/wants ratios are not always as good as you would expect. Strange. I guess a number of folks don't list them as their wants ?

I don't have any...but I love your collection! I don't even know how to get a hold of thoes types of pins besides like...eBay.
I've found most of mine on boards at the Sept pin events, but I've also gotten them from
CM lanyards and of course from Scoop.

I always have some for trade. I usually try to trade for other AP/PP pins that fit in my collections. I'm planning on bringing a small board of them to the Sept event too. There are a lot of people trading AP/PP pins there.

I trade Ap/Pp pins for other Ap/Pp pins. I enjoy collecting the Artist Proof and Preproduction pins. There harder to get then their regular counterpart.

Thanks everyone for your input. I will have to start bringing these bad boys to some trading events. I've saved some of them that fit my collections, I think the rest of them will be those that need homes :-)

Look at edition sizes of them, AP'S Limited to maybe 25 to 50 pins. PP'S, on the other hand, Limited to 3 to 5 pins sometimes less. With that in mind you should expect better trades for PP'S than AP'S. Your best bet, as mentioned previously, is to trade AP/PP for AP/PP. At least this way you're getting pins of equal value in trade.

As far as the low number of people "Wanting" them. I think a lot of people don't understand what they are. I also see people place their Non AP/PP under the AP/PP listing on PinPics. So, you'll have lop sided "Trades/Wants" due to people listing their pins under the wrong heading. I also believe people feel they will have to trade hard to aquire them so, instead of wanting the AP/PP Pins, they'll go ahead and want the non AP/PP version of the same pin.

I collect them as well and what the others say rings true. Some are impossible to get people to trade, the others don't care. I see the values all over the place, from above the actual pin value to below, it all depends on the pin. I typically seek out specific ones from my Haunted Mansion and Pirates themes....now if I could find any that jabberwocky wanted, I'd be great. Then I could convince her to trade with me, lol.

I do not keep AP/PP pins generally. they might be a bit different on the front or whatever, but the "special" factor is on the back, which I never look at. My understanding is that some are different from the standard released pin, but they just dont interest me. The ones i have ended up with and traded away i traded for the same value as the regular version of the pin. :)

We find them to be a little bit more special (as they are harder to find) though not overwhelmingly more amazing than the same non-AP pin. The PP pins are slightly different - some hardly change and others change a lot. We only have one PP and the colors are different than the pin they released so there is a difference outside of the mark on the back.

For the most part though, it's a fun surprise to look in the back and find that you have an AP or PP pin.

Fun thread to read so far lol! The more I read it, the more I get an idea of what I want to keep and what I want to trade. Thanks again everybody :-)
