Hi guys,

Me again with I'm sure another mendane and obliviously stupid question. How can you tell an artist proof pin? I've had a look at pics on pinpics (finally managed to get on and make an account! Yay!) and I'm struggling to see a difference.

Not a stupid question at all! Many times the proofs look very similar if not identical to the final released product, but artist proof pins always have a small "AP" somewhere on the back of the pin.

They can be faked but usually the fakes are easy to spot because the stamped AP on the back of the fakes causes damage to the pin. On a true AP the stamp was done before production so there is no damage done to the pin.

Also note, WDI / MOG / Imagineering pins DO NOT stamp their APs with "AP." Frame sets are AP and will note on the frame, but the pins will not have the AP stamp on the back. So if you ever get an AP frame from WDI, don't break it open and split it. lol cause it'll blend with the regulars.

There are marked AP's and (rarely) PP's from WDI.
