I am going to Aulani at the end of the month and was curious about the pin situation. Is it just OE pins? Is it special Aulani pins? Is it some pins for other parks? Any help would be appreciated!

I collect Aulani pins. Most are open edition, some are limited. Be sure to ask behind the counter if they have any limited ones.

If you have never been to Aulani, let me warn you that the amount of pins they have is SMALL. Maybe 5 or less of Aulani-specific pins. They have some cool merch, but pins are just not a big seller at the resort. There is trading, but the Aulani-specific pins are small.

Go to disneypinplace.com and search "Aulani" to see all that have been released.

All of the other pins for sale are just generic open editions... nothing special.

I'm trying to be a completist. I only need a handful more to finish. I made a lanyard already, just feel weird wearing it because I haven't been there yet and I figure everyone will ask me right away if I've gone. But I will get there sometime.
 
Maybe just a lanyard. We were there for 8 days and we never did pin trading and we only saw a handful of people.

I love Aulani, but it's definitely a much different Disney vacation than going to the parks. They really hide the Disney part of it a lot more (in some ways you forget that it's even owned by Disney), and a lot of the locals who work there aren't 100% up on their Disney knowledge. I definitely recommend going there at least once though!
 
Aulani has DL hidden Mickey pins for trading. So it's worth bringing some pins for CM trading if it's your thing. The DVC people are the best. They seem to have their lanyards nicely refreshed and they have a pin board. They also have books in the shops and at Concierge but I only saw scrappers in there.
 
At Aulani, there is a gift shop where you can purchase pins. There is one small wall in the back of the store that has pins, and a small amount of lanyards etc. There are open edition pins that range from the ones you get at the park and ones you can only find at Aulani. They also do have LE pins (but not that much). The last time I went, they had a special pin that only certain people can buy. But it doesn't show what the pin looks like. Also they sometimes sell the mystery packs.

Then in Aulani, there is another gift shop somewhere by the teen spa, and it is called painted skies (or something like that, lol) and they also sell pins there.
 
If anyone heading there would get me the Duffy specific merchandise (I think there's currently one pin and one bear, but there might be more I don't know about), I can either re-pay straight-up, or trade in pins, or in WDW merchandise.
