I start doing pin trading back in 1999 and throughout the years I've been hurt so much it's a pin folks it's not a life people are so rude to me they said yeah sure will be friends if you give me your pin that I wanted how rude is that that's why I stopped doing Pin trading because of all the drama they want to trade with you so they could put it up on eBay or sell them so when your pins that you stand in line all night and buying from your money that's how the game works rude toothless people One time I was putting my pins out on the table and I hard pins to get that I bought with my money somebody wanted so they could give me an open addition pin I said sorry I can't then they Flick me off they call me a name. know what I'm talking about right I want to come back to pin trading even my mom want to go back to pin trading but we can't take all the drama anymore because they push people to get what they want so they could resell them and then give then if you see a pin that you want in their books or anywhere they said sorry no very rudely it's a piece of metal folks and it's a great hobby for the whole family and beware that if you trade with somebody they will give you a fake pin which I was unhappy for so you better beware they are bullies also I have a couple of names in my head that I can't say on here they are rude to me if anybody wants to trade with me I will be happy and glad to trade any pin that you want me and my mom are friendly people and we love people we love kids we love adults we love everybody we are lovely prick people anybody is allowed to trade with us because were kind and gentle and we're not sure we are here for having fun and it's a fun hobby that we like and love because me and my mom are big Disney fans in our hearts forever and my mom tells me I have A lot of knowledge for Disney I know more and lots more of Disney stuff trivia and ect.......
 
So I am sure I have sent lopsided requests, completely on accident. I have gotten some myself but I always assume the person is either new or "values" pins or characters different than me. With everyone valuing pins differently, sometimes it's just hard to tell. There are some characters I place no value on, but may very well be someone's grail.

So what works for one, might not work for the other. However, isn't that part of trading ? There is some negotiation to it at times....in which case there is no need for rudeness. If it doesn't work for you, check traders to see if you can find something that works or just a simple no thank you is fine.

I do believe that once you trade a pin though, it's yours to do as you please with. So the goal should be for you to walk away from the trade happy (and feeling you gave the other person a fair deal).

EVERY time you post you have a TERRIBLE attitude when things do not go your way. LOTS of people have been very nice to you.

News flash: WE'RE ALL PIN TRADERS HERE. If we're so damn rude you can always leave. You don't have to talk or trade with us.

Hey I don't have an attitude You have an attitude not me just stop it don't tell me how to do my own stuff you have in the light of attitude you shark. Leave me alone I can't post anything I want on here
 
I do agree that people need to be civil. I try to reply to all the offers I receive, and if it's not something I'm interested in I will reply with something like "Thank you for the offer but I will pass." It doesn't cost anything to be polite, and you never know if sometime in the future you'll be able to make a trade with them. Not to mention that it's a person on the other end of that username, is it really worth it to make the other person feel bad?


Maybe I've been pin trading at the wrong places, but I haven't even seen people flipping other people off for refusing a trade. :/

Another good point! I think that most of the internet folks forget this or simply do not care. I've been on enough gamer boards to see how horrible some people can be to each other over the stupidest of things. Anonymity breeds arses after all.

One reason I have enjoyed hanging out here at DPF so much is because of how KIND and HELPFUL the Disney crowd seems to be in comparison to most hobbyist groups that I have been a part of in the past. Of course there will always be the exceptions, but for the most part this place is full of good people. I'm sad to hear that the real-life trade events are suffering from so much negativity though. That's definitely not what Walt would have wanted.
 
Here is the thing - I only really know you from your posts in this thread. Immediately you start off with "pin traders are f%&k rude but no body care of what i say..." and the rest of your posts in this thread have had a negative tone.

It would be nice to get to know you but your posts seem to be shutting us out and putting us down right away, so it is hard to know how to approach you without feeling like what we say is attacking you. You make some valid points about the tone of pin trading, but you have a very strong delivery and don't seem open to listening to others' opinions and seem to just want validation from us that all pin traders are rude and awful people.

It is true that there are some rude and greedy people in pin trading, but the vast majority of people I've met (both through this board and in person) are genuinely in the hobby due to a love of Disney and pins. I have met some friends through the hobby that I wouldn't have otherwise, and have seen a lot of generosity within the community.

Maybe if you didn't complain all the time people might take the time to get to know you. If you are coming here for validation then you are looking in the wrong place.

If you want to have conversations then this is the correct place. Don't take everything personally.

If all you want to do is knock other people because they don't swoon to you then you get the responses you deserve. Not every comment people make will get responses. If somebody wants to respond they will. Don't go off on people just because you don't get responses.

It takes time for people to get to know you and when all you do is complain nobody wants to deal with it.

We need to bring back the no drama llama.


in an unrelated comment, I am making an effort to respond to all trade requests this year. I do understand that new people come into the hobby and it would die without them. I think a lot of people know I go out of my way to help new people whenever I can. I have been many people's first trades both here and on pinics. Mostly because I am addicted to pin trading as a hobby. Most of the time I trade for other traders just to feed my fix. Plus it is an amazing way to meet fantastic people both in person and online. It seems like I should have a but here, but there isn't one. :lol: I will say that I have done more pin trading in the last month then I did all of last year. Postage alone for last weekend was over 60.00 and packages were sent all over the world. I do believe that the rumor of pin trading being dead or dying is greatly exaggerated at least by my experiences. Is it harder to do right now, maybe, but it depends on if you are trying to find grails or just fill holes in my collections or even just trading for traders.

Pin trading is supposed to be fun and I think a lot of the time people forget that. It is a shame, because big pin trades are amazing when you can pull them off, but even small trades are fun.

As for the in person pin trading, maybe it is because we only get to Disneyland once or twice a year and we throw a pin trading party, but I have had a great time trading in person. You get to meet some really nice people doing it that way. Yes there are some jerks, but isn't that the case in life in general?

One of my favorite sayings in the parks when asked how I am doing is "I am pin trading at Disneyland how bad can it be?"
 
Sorry, but when the very first thing you post is "pin traders are f%&k rude but no body care of what i say..." in a thread about being civil to other people IS bringing up drama. Drama that you are creating all on your own.

You are swinging right out of the gate with a putdown of our entire community. You aren't taking what anyone is saying into consideration because you feel that you are 100% in the right. That is your prerogative, we cant stop you from feeling a certain way or having a certain opinion. But you you don't then get to turn around and say that everyone is causing drama except for you.

You are setting us up for failure. If we agree with you, it is implying that we think that ALL OF US are the problem. If we disagree, we are being a bunch of meanies just because we disagree with you.

I like making new friends, especially in this hobby, but you do not seem to want to be friends with anyone here. You seem to want your ego stoked. I feel that no matter what I say you will keep posting the same things about how pin traders are awful and that we don't want you around when we say that no, not all pin traders are awful. You are not having a conversation with us, you are giving us a lecture.



With that being said, I feel that this thread has horribly derailed and has perfectly exemplified the need to be courteous to each other all at the same time.
 
Fine I won't come back to any pin form happy I am a nice guy I'm just replying people message and I'm giving out my own opinions I am always nice to people sorry I hurt your feelings everyone

This is the way to go I think! Invite only the people that you KNOW are friendly and fun, or are invited through other friends, and you're bound to only have good experiences, yes?

Yes we only invite a few people, just anybody on DPF who wants to come. :lol: Oh and their friends/family. Shooting for 100 people this coming party, we had over 80 the last one.

Right now it looks like it will be at the Denny's on Harbor Blvd across the street from Disneyland on May 2nd. They are giving us room for 80-100 people. I can buy a lot of appetizers with the money we would have had to plunk down to rent a room. :lol:
