Am I the only one who becomes attached to trader pins that don't fit into any of my collections? I have several pins on my trades list that I just can't seem to part with even though I get perfectly reasonable trade requests for them. Some I traded for and some were bought. Some are easy to come by OE pins and some are VHTF LEs. One of the is the Jessica as Ursula pin. I bought two intending to trade them both. After trading one of them I just can't bring myself to trade the other. I finally took it off my trades list as I felt I was kind of being a tease by having it on there. Another one is the OE Mickey Halloween Vampire I don't bite. Picked it up from a CM to trade away and now I just can't do it!

Anyone else have this happen?

There are many Alice pins among my traders ... Sadly, I am getting attached to them I think I am becoming a closet Alice collector.

I DEFIANTLY know what you mean.. One of which was my Aurora PTN, she was on my trades list and I thought i'd never get a trade that would please me enough to get rid of her.. I did eventually trade here away though, for a Snow White POMH, some people said it was a complete 'over trade'(?) but I was 100% happy with it just because I wanted the Snow White POMH that badly!
If you're not 100% happy with the trade then just don't make it, if you do just because they don't fit with the theme/character you collect then you will regret making it..

I'm happy I'm not the only one. I haven't even started my trades list because I'm afraid to part with some pins that aren't even part of my theme. I've become too attached.

I started to with the Jessica as pins I started to get .I actually was going to start collecting jessica because of it but them I got a couple trade offers for grails and now their gone its like they were never here and Im thinking why I ever wanted to collect jessica

I collect anything that looks "Pretty" in my mind.

I have a vast array of pins ranging from my favourite Pocahontas pin (40444) to the Standard DLR Bolt core pin, to Tinker bell and Lion King!!

I know what I want, but if I look at the pin and feel a special bond with it, like a past memory, or a feeling not felt in a long time, I'd need it.

Many of the pins I have mean something to me, such as trader pins.

Some my boyfriend got me, which were my 3 previous Holy grails, some my grandmother went to Disneyland right when it opened to pick up pins for me when I was in Australia, some my cousin and my aunt saw and new I'd like, and some...were because of people...well, not really people, more like ANGELS who helped me get my most desired pins. *hint hint* Si1238, Donna.

Which is the reason why I have 33 pins for trade Wish I had more, but it's so hard when you get attached to them because they hold a significant feeling, and like Pin 4044, have a special place in my heart.

YES!!!! I have several I bought specifically to trade & after getting them, just havent been able to trade them away like the Jessica & Tink Halloween ones from last year. Maybe some day they'll go on my trades list but I have a feeling they will be added to this year around Halloween..

we got 25 pins from a member here...lol all were to b traded at the park that day....we sat down looked at all the pins..and only wanted to trade about 5 of them. we ended up trading about 15-18... we all just got to keep one or 2. It was a nice lot and hard to trade. i wish i knew when other ppl would b putting nice traders like that out at the park. Every time i opened a new pin and traded..i was thinking how cool that sumone would now get these real nice pins from a cm lanyard.. everyone thinks cms have junk..but im telling u that i put about 15-18 nice pins on there. I want to always do that. I think it helps the hobby much more than telling ppl that all cm pins are fake. At the end of the day ... i was happy we had left such nice pins for other traders to get.now hope to find when other nice traders like my fam...will b at the park... i want to trade for sum good stuff too

It happens with me ALL THE TIME!! The longer I have it, the less likely I am to trade it. Absolutely makes no sense.....

Heather, this is sooooo me. I get attached and can't give them up! This why I started to collect Chip and Dale for my son. I also have Jessie and Mulan pins I can't quite put on my traders list, even though I don't collect these characters! Aaaaargh-I am so frustrating to myself!

I do the same. I only started trading because it was hard for me to give up any pins. Even now, I have some trouble separating the trades from the keeps. Sometimes I even have a hard time getting rid of doubles!

i think I might be in the small group of population 1 that does not get attached to trader pins since I am very strict with what I collect and I never fall out of line and have pins that dont fit in with what I collect.

I mainly go for traders that I think other people would like not that I would like as if I did that then I wouldnt be buying traders, Id be buying keepers XD

Wow...glad to know there are some others in the same boat. To those of you who are stricter with yourselves, I admire your strength! It almost seems cyclical for me. When I first discovered pins I was ALL over the place...little of this...little of that. Then I started focusing on Tinker Bell. After awhile I realized I actually really loved Lady & Tramp and Aristocats pins. I've been trying to keep myself on path but as of late I am really finding myself on a lot of pin tangents. Who knows...maybe I will clean up my pin act eventually. Meantime, I am still having fun.

It happens to me all the time, that's why I have way too many pins. I put them on my traders list and then when I got through the trade bags I go "Well, I really kinda like that pin, maybe I'll keep it." So I keep it a while, then put it back and take it out....well, you get the picture. I wish I was like Judy and only kept things that fit in my collection. But then I have to ask, what do I collect - just Alice in Wonderland or other things too???? It's a conundrum for sure.

The way it is for me since I stick to stitch and UP pins then I see it as I can afford to pay the little extra for pins in my collection when Im not buying a little of this and a little that as many people do as thats how I explain it to people when they think I spend waaaay to much on pins or a single pin.

People still think Im crazy though as I recently did start collecting PTN pins but thats only because I hit a brick wall with the last 13 pins on my wants list.

I'm having that issue with some of my world of color pins. I really don't even like them but having a hard time parting with them. O well, they've got to go to help me get other pins.

I'm there with you, that's why as of late I make a point to trade them off for other traders or on occasion a want, that may have been a lesser of value. Most of my most wanted are now safely in my pinbag, so the need for the better traders is decreasing. However there are still some pins I am reluctant to let go of, and others that I have a set "value" attached trade wise, so I'll hold out for the right trade to come along, and be happy I have some cool traders in the book.

I have numerous pins that meet that criteria. After all you have to have pins to trade pins.

But while I love them so.. the first reasonable offer and it's OUT THE DOOR.

Hi Heather,

I was actually getting mad at myself for doing the same thing you are doing. I bought some of the pins strictly as traders, and then wonder if I will miss them if I traded them out. I then started keeping some, and ended up with an entire pin bag full of these traders. Seeing that I was going to end up keeping them all, I decided to make my traders mostly of Stitch, which is what I collect. Since I have my keeper pin, and this is an extra, I can part with the traders easily.

However, this is not loads of fun when you are trading. People who do not like Stitch are not happy looking at my pin bags full of mostly Stitch. I still have a few others, but nothing in comparison to how many traders I have of stitch, and all these stitch pins are in my collection, so no more temptations. I already know that if I buy a Pluto or a Tinker bell, it will end up being kept, even though I am now sticking to mostly Stitch.

But I think the best thing to do is what peterpanfan said.
If you're not 100% happy with the trade then just don't make it, if you do just because they don't fit with the theme/character you collect then you will regret making it.

I bought this pin specifically to be a trader...

[pinpics]21406[/pinpics]: TDS - Chip Holding An Acorn (part of Chip and Dale Pin set 3753)

... but the PinPics listing didn't (technically) warn me that this pin is so small. Okay, it said that the pins in the set ranged in size from 3/4" to 1 1/4, but it didn't specify the size of this one.

And to make matters worse, it didn't say how absolutely precious it is! I mean, shouldn't there be a "Precious" warning on pins like this?

How could anyone trade away a pin that is so small and precious? I don't collect Chip and/or Dale, but this pin will not be leaving my hands any time soon.

**Sorry the picture is blurry when you roll your mouse over the link. It's much clearer on the PinPics listing.
