Can we stop reviving REALLY OLD FOR SALE THREADS PLEASE?

Okay, in the last few weeks there's been a ton of people reviving old threads, and I don't mean like a few weeks old...I mean MONTHS OLD.

Honestly guys; please just pm that person. Odds are if that thread is 2 months dead or more they don't have that item anymore. And pming them is the fastest way to find out!
 


Wouldn't it just be easier if the admins or thread starters or just delete their items when they no longer have them. That way it's easier for all new people coming on the boards and everyone not having to deal with that?
 
It definatley is I'm hoping the moderators see this too as i think you're only suppossed to have a few threads open at a time.

But at the same time...you could always check the thread date and the last post date before posting?
 
I think starry_solo is working with the mods (who can close the threads) on that issue. First, they are moving all the threads that have actually been closed by the original poster to the closed thread section of the forum before they move onto the others.

They are supposed to be closed by the person who started them. At one time there was talk of infractions for having to many open trade or sale posts.

Yes there is, it is under administrative tools. Which is on the trade threads for sure and I am pretty sure the sales threads also. You can't close things in the discussion sections though.
 
I've noticed this as well, and as a new person here I think the reason these threads are being reopened is prob bc people are doing a search for a key word or character and old threads seem to pop up. I did a search for stitch pins and the first sale one listed was from last October... and many much older that don't seem to be closed (not in title at least). So I have been making sure any searched posts I run into have had the original poster bumping or replying to messages recently. But I am guessing this is where the problem is coming from. Just a thought!
 
As a relative newcomer myself, this post is helpful. Eesser is on point. I also think some sellers have a small portion of pins unsold in a listing and keep it open. Maybe there should also be a time limit, and then unsold items could simply be re-listed. And, of course there will always be those members who post but who are no longer active, and my favorite, as the RetroNerd indicated... oh wait, it was CCofRR13 ... there will always be troublemakers ...
 
I think if someone is going to look at old thread, they need to PM the poster to see if the pin they want is still available for sale. OR maybe look at the poster's profile to see if the person has actually been active on DPF. In a lot of the old threads being bumped up, the OP hasn't been on DPF in months.
