Hi everyone --

I checked DPP and PinPics, but I can't seem to find the info I'm after. Does anyone know if the Chinese Zodiac Blind Box pin set that just came out (the one where the pins form a wheel) is a limited release, limited edition or open edition? This set is SO cute, but I'm really only after the Maximus year of the horse piece. I'll be in WDW in a week, but I'm trying to decide if I think I'll be able to find these, or if they're going to be a giant pain. :lol:

(Conversely, if you HAVE Max and are looking to sell him, shoot me a PM!)

The pins themselves are not marked "Limited Edition" or "Limited Release" and each cast member I spoke to had a different story about these pins. And we all know how well informed cast members are these days... <sarcasm>

But seeing as Chinese New Year is next week, my guess is limited release.

BOO. I was hoping for OE. But with the holiday being so close, that doesn't make sense to sell them all year. Yuck. All of the others are readily available on eBay, but Max is HUGELY inflated because it's Max. So I'm hoping to get lucky here. Sigh.

These pins are kinda a pain. They boxes are matched sets. So if you buy a box and get Abu then you're other pin is white rabbit... I wish I could remember who Maximus was paired with...it's either Mushu or piglet. But yeah New Years is on the 31st so I don't know how much longer they'll have the pins available. :/

I understand your frustration... I got three boxes of Abu and White Rabbit!!

I haven't seen them at WDW, I went twice this week and nada. But, that doesn't mean they weren't there. I just didn't see them.

Im sorry!!!! I got lucky with mine. I bought 9 boxes and was lucky enough to get my full set...but okay going by what you're missing and what I use to have extra... Lost sun princess if you get piglet in your box the other is maximus.

LE blind boxes are the worst. I'd rather have R/Cs. I hate to admit that I just bit the bullet and got one on eBay. :hsugh: With what I would have spent on blind boxes trying to find him (edit: provided of course, I could even find a place selling the boxes in WDW), it was worth just buying it. I like the overall look of the whole set, but not enough to try for ALL of them, you know? This is good info for others though!

Hmmmm it's not a complete list but from what I remember...
mushu ----> tigger
abu-----> white rabbit
maximus-----> piglet
kaa------> blue ox
mickey -----> chicken little
and by default it should be
sheep -----> Pluto

I bought 9 boxes today (18 pins total) and got 10 of the 12 in the set. The duplicates were the same as the ones I pulled.

These are how they are "randomized"

Tigger/Mushu (Tiger/Dragon)
Mickey/Chicken Little (Mouse [or rat]/Rooster)
Pluto/Sheep (Dog/Sheep [or Goat])
Maximus/Piglet (Horse/Pig)
Blue Ox/Kaa (Ox [or Cow]/Snake)

I am missing:
Abu/White Rabbit (Monkey/Rabbit)

and have duplicates of:
Mushu (Dragon)
Mickey/Chicken Little (Mouse [or rat]/Rooster)
Piglet

But, I think I'm trading for the ones I need, hopefully....

I have not seen them at WDW and others I have talked to have not seen them. They were presented on preview boards, but sadly now I'm starting to think they may not make it to WDW (given the date).

YESSSS!!! I was able to complete my set thanks to some awesome DPF members! My plan was to camp out at Little Green Men and hit up each person who bought a box to see if they wanted to trade with me. Thankfully, I don't have to do that now. :D

If you're trying to complete this set... good luck!!
 
This is seriously such a weird and mysterious release - still no word on edition size (LR/LE/OE?) and the only pictures I've seen have been on eBay, nothing on PP or DPP. :dunno: I also have NO idea how big these are - I think I noticed that they had two pin posts, so maybe they're pretty big? (Or maybe they've got two posts to help them stay in place to form that wheel shape?)

I'm pretty sure these are Open Edition based on the price. They had these today at Epcot, for the East Coasters. They had them at Pin Central and in Mousegear.

I ended up with 2 sets of duplicates, so I'm looking for trade

Pluto/Lambert's Mom
Mickey/Chicken Little

I am in need of:

Tigger / Mushu
Abu / White Rabbit
 
I took pictures of the pins (except the two I am missing) and submitted it to Pinpics to add to their listings for the pins. I didn't give them the SKU though.

Chinese New Year is almost here so I'm guessing they should disappear by mid-February. I heard they were all gone at DLR, though...

I will measure mine and come back with measurements.

I noticed that the thickness in the lines around the animals and also towards the bottom vary. For example, I have two Tiggers (one for me and one was already snagged by another DPF'er) and I noticed that there are thin lines in his face on one pin and thick lines in his face on another. I should take pictures of them side by side and post...
