nobody cares now.
Last month and further back, I've made offers at EBay on pins that have the Buy It now and Make Offer buttons and while not always accepted, most of the time I'll at least receive a counteroffer if my initial offer wasn't accepted. This month alone I've received flatout declines on multiple offers I've made to different sellers and no one has offered a counter offer. Did EBay take away the ability to counter? I'm not quite sure I understand why sellers would add the Make-Offer button if they don't even want to negotiate when a prospective buyer appears. :(

Thoughts?

Last time I made an offer the seller sent a counter offer. I don't think they changed that, but I could be wrong?

Sorry you have been getting stubborn sellers though. I am also annoyed with a couple of sellers who have had pins listed at ridiculous prices for months (that won't sell) and they never lower their prices, even when the same pin has sold for much less many times. Just can't haggle with people sometimes lol.

When you list on Ebay with the "Make Offer" option, Ebay allows the seller to set the absolute minimum amount they would consider. If the Seller enters a minimum amount and offers come in that are less than that minimum price, Ebay will automatically send a rejection and won't even notify the Seller of the offer. The Seller is only notified of offers that are at least their specified minimum price.

This is not new, so it may be that the offers you submitted recently were lower than the Seller's minimum.

As stated, it could be the auto-reject cuz you didn't hit the threshold. But to address the larger issue, my pet peeve recently has been sellers who include "Best offer" but don't really want offers. Ha. Sorry, I can understand rejecting a lowball offer, but some of them think knocking $1 off a high-priced item is more than enough. Um, no, if your counter is $299 for a $300 listing, why even have Best Offer? In that case, the dollar really isn't going to make or break my decision to purchase!

I have the same issue (well, sis does on my account). It's definitely not the auto-rejection because she doesn't get rejections automatically, usually in one day.

LOL, I know some people don't want to haggle but I'm beginning to develop a peeve over these sellers offering to review "offers" but then just automatically saying no. Do these sellers think it makes them more approachable? I'm just baffled by the entire concept. :wat:

I have seen this before in the past but it usually sent me a response fairly quickly. I could be mistaken but I thought these pre-set minimum rejections flashed almost immediately to the buyer once they hit the send button for their offers.
Recently, however, my offers do not get rejected until 24-48 hours later so I wasn't sure if Ebay redesigned the system or what. :dunno:

Yeah, saying no to an offer that close to their asking price is just insane. LOL< I feel like we need to start an Ebay horror stories thread and place examples like that in there, auction pictures and all. :naughty:

I'd like to say I'm glad I'm not the only one, but this just sucks. At least if it was auto reject, I could feel marginally better about the incidents. It's so much easier when I can just blame technology. Now I have to face the truth that there really are moronic sellers out there.

I did a best offer for a few dollars off a pin. The seller was asking for 15+shipping but I didn't want to pay over 15 with shipping (I'm cheap) so I did like 12 to make the price $14.99 with shipping. Instantly got declined tried like $13 because I was curious, instantly got declined. Tried $14.99 and it instantly got declined. Why do a best offer if your best offer is what you are asking for?!? I don't get people. Needless to say, I ended up finding the pin for around $10 later.

THIS. This is exactly what annoys me. I agree with Froggerway, we need a thread, ha ha ha!!!

Ohhhh! This, right here, like Addicted to Alice Pins mentioned, is tantrum worthy! And as much as I'd like to think that since even your 14.99 offer was declined then maybe the seller just wasn't aware how to work the system or had technical difficulties, my guess is they were just being a donkey! Grrr..

I'm happy to hear, though, that you found the pin cheaper, elsewhere. It took a bit, but you managed to get your pintastic ending. :)

Think how quickly the thread would fill up. LOL! ;)

Full-on donkey! I thought about it before I replied, and I too was going to say, "Perhaps the seller was unfamiliar with Best Offer and/or simply did not uncheck the Best Offer box (ie, didn't intend to use the Best Offer option at all)." But then I thought further and realized that if you choose the "auto-respond" option with Best Offer, I'm 99% sure you have to manually enter your range. Since Lisa got three auto-rejects (not "within the 48-hour window" rejects, during which the seller actually considered the offer), that means the seller typed in his/her asking price as the threshold. Can I get a "WTF?" Ha ha.

But yes, at least the story ends with a better deal on the pin!

Yup. Better deals on pins is always great! :)

That's a complete valid question. Being a seller and buyer sometimes i haven't gone through this situation but yeah knowing the fact how it actually works can be something that's complete useful and necessarily working on a lot.
eBay can sometimes be a bit difficult for the sellers but it all has a solution certainly.
