I wondered if this was within the rules of an auction? I want to post the pin I want, then if you have that pin, you bid anything on my trades list. The bid I feel is the lowest asking is the winner. Is that ok? So for example, say I want a Aladdin PODM, and you bid as many pins on my trades list as you want, knowing what I feel is the least asking trade is the winner. Get it? Is that ok?

Wait I'm confused?

Oh wait. Maybe not.

You say you want Pin A and people got through your trades and basically say what the lowest possible trade they'd do with you is?

Yes.

xD

I think that's called a reverse auction.

I think that's called a reverse auction.

Goofy Moe did what he called a "reverse auction" where he kept adding to what he was offering until someone offered a PODM. I'm asking for something specific and the letting them wittle themselves down until there's a winner. A bit different, but I agree, it's best described as some sort of reverse auction. I just didn't know if it was in the rules.

I did this a couple times on the trades threads as a reverse auction....

I listed a couple pins from my wants and told people to ask for things from my trades for it. I had ok results.not awesome, but ok.

my concern for you is that if you get only one offer and the person says they want all your pins and because it is labled as an auction, you would be forced to accept the offer... even if you asked for the UP marquee and someone said give me all 300+ pins you have listed... chances are nobody else will show with another one and then you are committed to the trade by the rules that are in place...

Perhaps a cap of let's say any 10 pins or something may be a thought...

I think putting a limit on the pins you can bid is a good idea.

I thought about doing this exact thing in the Trades section (so I wouldn't be forced to take a vastly uneven trade). I had thought about saying that anyone can make an offer, and the first acceptable offer I see, I'll take. That went against the Auction rules, which state a definite end time would have to be set. But I think you could do this with a set time limit and just pick the trade you like best. It would be interesting to get a ruling from the DPF administrators.

I still really like the idea, but (as with the other Auctions) the fact that you are forced to do a trade without any provisions for a reserve or a minimum starting bid has prevented me from taking it any further...
