Hi folks,
Im interested in buying some high end pins from a German seller. The seller was kind enough to warn me about customs charges. Does anyone have experience with these sorts of transactions? I purchased some pricey pins from other parts of Europe last year where I did not have to pay for customs. Looking up customs fee on www.dutycalculator.com from Getmany , it states an 11% fee is required. My main questions are how accurate is the duty calcultor site and how are customs fees collected from the receipent? Is there anything else I need to know? Thanks.

US is great about customs fees :)

If you ever do get charged them, you pay the post office directly. They probably accept cash or check for them.

Hah I only just saw this thread, I was the seller. ;) Good to know the US is not as strict, cause in Germany, our sales tax is 19% so we have to pay that AND customs fees on anything over 22 Euros, if it is a gift shipment, it also applies for 45 Euros plus. So crazy. And they sometimes even have you come into the office to check out random packages, even if they are okay. And the office is outside the city and really hard to get to. You guys can be so happy to get everything so easily. ;)
