Hi as you may of known that I've been after this pin for awhile now and was so happy when I had a trade setup for it but when it arrived it had this damage to it its a chip taken out on the front and a chip on the inside of the pin I was not told that this pin had this damage to it :( I would like to keep it but not 100% sure it has taken me so long and patience to get a trade setup for it please tell me your thoughts on what I should do many thanks Damien

As you can see the damage at the top of door

That doesn't sound good then , I'd try contacting them and see if they're prepared to reverse the trade . If there was damage to the pin I was sending I'd be sure the other party knew about it first , and I doubt they could have missed it (way too much damage to be chalked up to "I didn't notice")

Sorry to read this Damien. I do know how much you had been searching for this pin. :(

In regards as to what to do, you have to ask yourself seriously: If you had known beforehand that this pin had the damage it does, would you have agreed to the trade anyways?

1)If yes, then the issue is rather obsolete.

2)If no, you never would've agreed to the trade knowing the pin was damaged then kindly inform the trader they need to trade back since they were dishonest about the condition of the pin.

I wish you the best of luck and hope all ends civil and satisfactory. :)

ok thankyou I think I would of still had it but I wouldn't of sent the podm beauty and the beast pin and the song of the south uk le 150 pin as well I would of just traded the podm on its own as this pin wouldn't be as much of a tradable pin as not as many people would want it with this damage to it does this make sense am I right with this?

If it were me i wouldn't have been too bothered by the nick at the bottom , the damage at the top would have been a deal breaker though . I might have considered the PODM trade , depending on the scene but TBH I don't see how I could repair or ignore a crack like the one shown so probably not even then .

ok thanks for your opinion

Damien, just remember its up to you. If you aren't happy, then ask for a return trade.
You need to be happy about the pin.

For a trade of that value I feel your trading partner should indeed have told you about the damage up front.. That way you could've decided for yourself if you wanted to go ahead with it or not.

I would send him/her a message along with those pictures and see whether a solution can be found that you feel comfortable with.

I agree with momin.ator and. Piglet, but then I am a perfectionist. I'd contact the trader and reverse the trade. That is not a minor flaw and they obviously knew and pulled one over. Always ask for a picture.
I'm going to check with a friend of mine that frequents Paris. She did have it for trade.

I agree with much of what has been said already and I don't think I can contribute anything new (or much different). First and foremost, you should contact the trader. I think thst should be your first step whenever you are unhappy or have a problem with a trade. However, I think you should have the following answered in your own mind first:

When it comes to keeping the trade or undoing it, I agree: you have to ask yourself that if you knew the extent of the damage, would you still make the trade? I'm a bit of a perfectionist (to a certain extent) when it comes to pins (understanding that sometimes pins are manufactured with flaws), and while I *might* be able to overlook the bottom flow, especially if I really wanted it, there is no way I could accept the top one. However, this is just me; others have different standards and that's perfectly fine. Considering the nature of those flaws, I find it hard to believe that the other trader didn't know about them and even if you decide to keep the pin, I think you should have been told about those flaws in advance.

What at it comes down to, ultimately, is whether you are happy with it. If you're happy with it, great; if you're not, contact the trader and see if you can work out something (but try to have a reasonable idea of what you want from the trader that will make you happy).

Here's the email I sent to him this morning with the photos in an email as I can't get photos uploaded on pinpics

Hi I received my pin yesterday and it came with damage :( to it I'm not to worried about the other damage I'm just worried about that big dip on the front and the really lose pins on back i don't think it was done during transit as you did package it up very well I just wish you mentioned to me that it had this damage to it I did tell you that my pins where in perfect condition I don't think this pin was a top trade able pin with this much damage on as it wouldn't go for this much with the extent of the damage to it I don't think this pin was worth bothe pins for it the beauty and the beast pin would of been anothe for this pin considering all the damage to it what should we do? I would be prepared to keep the pin but only if I could have the song of the south pin back as I think this is a fair deal with all the damage on there and won't be much of a tradable pin with this much damage hope to hear from you soon Damien.

Looks good, Damien, I hope you're able to reach a satisfactory result. If I might make one more suggestion, I would keep copies of ALL of your correspondence with the other trader until you have reached a compromise agreement that makes both of you happy (or with which both of you can live). In the (hopefully) unlikely event that the two of you are unable to reach an agreement and you need to appeal to a moderator for assistance, the first thing that moderator likely will want to see is copies of any correspondence and having it will only help your cause.

This has now been sorted I am keeping the pin and the person is now sending me the dlp frozen pin pinpics number 106674 they gave me 5 pins that I could choose one of so I'm getting the frozen pin which I'm happy with and I did get an apology as they said they didn't check the condition of the pin before they sent it they where very apologetic about it glad it's sorted thanks for all your advice Damien :)
