Did My Mom Purchase a Scrapper at Disneyland?

My mom bought the 56152 Jeweled Ursula pin at the Disneyland Emporium in either May 2006 or February 2008 (she can't remember, but she knows that the Emporium is where she bought it because the only souvenir store at the parks she'll shop at). She's decided sell it, but I'm scared to list it on eBay because according to Pinpics.com, it's a scrapper because on the back it says it says "2006", and the *real* ones were made in 2007.

I'm kind of at a loss of what to do, because it was sold to her at Disneyland - she didn't trade for it (she's not a trader, she just buys what she likes), buy it off line, etc.

Any advice?

Here is a front and a back picture if it helps:

A lot of the time they re-release pins and just change the year stamp on the back. It's very possible that's what happened in this case since your mom did buy it directly at the park. I feel like sometimes people get "scrapper alert happy" and post warnings on PinPics when it's not a scrapper, it's just poor quality control on Disney's part. The pin you have doesn't look like it has poor quality paint or anything...
if you do list on Ebay, I would just make sure to include both pictures, and mention that it was bought in Disneyland. As long as you are honest in your listing you shouldn't have any problems.
Hope this helps. :)

The likelihood that your mom purchased a scrapper directly from Disney is so small it's like less than 1% for this to happen someone would have had to trade the real pin for a scrapper and who would go to that much trouble? Wouldn't it be easier just to steal the pin than to replace it with a fake? And pinpics isn't necessarily the end all be all for pin information, mistakes are made and officially they have no ties to Disney, it's a great resource for pin trading, but like in all things there is room for human error. State what you know about the pin, post real pictures and you've done your due diligence and that's all ebay requires.

Agreed with above. If she purchased it directly from Disney, then 99.99% chance, it's real. They re-issue open-edition pins often, so you may have a year that was the first year it was produced or a year it was re-issued. Because it is an open-edition pin, you might have better luck selling off Facebook or on the forum, than on ebay - unless it's a popular pin and you know what the going ebay range of prices are.

as first member said. Many times a rack pin will be made for many years. Each time the pin is re-ordered by Disney, they will update the date on the pin. Some time its more easy to tell this because the first year pin will say First release. That means its the first pins of this kind ordered. Since its a rack pin it can be made again and when its re-ordered, the pin will have a new date and the "first release" will be gone.

Your pin should be fine. Don't believe all that you read on PP. They are a biz and out to make money, not just help our hobby. As such, many things they have to say must be taken with a grain of salt.
