I am so discusted with hearing about all the greed, and fighting, and hype over these pins its just flipping rediculous. What has come to pin trading? These prices are insane! And the reason why?? Us, everyone who is falling for paying the outrageous prices and those who overhyped them and made it so.

It's so sad to hear friendships have been lost over these pins, it's frustrationg. These pins have left a bitter taste in my mouth, the glitter of pin trading has faded, I have lost joy in trading, this hobby has become overly greedy, I am disapointed in pin trading right now, it no longer is fun. Every pin I want is out of reach and is driven by greed, and its sad to see many disapointed traders heart broken because they feel they will never have a chance as myself to own even one.

Why buy into to these prices why? Why let them win? Why sell off everything you own just to have one? Why fight? Why brag? Does it make you feel good? This is so lame. Stop the insanity.
I miss this site, I miss zapping, I have not had a single pin in the mail in forever, hardly able to trade because i have nothing worthy I feel I have lost touch with most, only a few still talk to me. I feel I should just go back to being alone in my own pin world or just plain quit, pin greed has ruined this hobby. This is my opinion I felt the need to get it off my chest.

HI there, I have always tried to keep it fun, yes there are many pins i would love and will never have
that does make me sad,I only have limited means and will never afford some of the higher end pins
it just makes it more special when I get a new pin
I hope you find the magic again,
PS did you ever receive the pin i sent for your dads lanyard??

I am sorry to read that you are frustrated

I do not know what happened in the actual expo, but forum has been mostly serene and laid back about this release. There is no anger and back-stabbing over here like you mentioned. People are quietly trying to co-op. That's all.

I agree, the prices are absolutely ridiculous. But sadly people pay it so it wont stop. If people just stepped back for a moment and had a think about what they are doing, maybe they'd see how crazy it is. I couldn't imagine spending $600 on a single pin. Heck I just pre-ordered disney infinity and I feel guilty! (Probably because I shouldn't have bought it, due to lack of money)

I was wondering what I had missed. I thought compared to other releases, this one was fairly tame in the online reaction. Most people seem to be in the same leaky boat.

So far here on the forum it has been quiet. Folks will list them for sale for whatever they want. And those who can afford the price tag will pay it. If people dont feel they are worth that price, they wont buy. But so far, the only issue appears to have been with the ;ine and with how disney went about distributing them from the shelves. This is the first i have heard of any DPF problems with this release. I am sorry your upset, but it doesnt appear to be a huge massive friend killing issue this time around.

The hype will die down. These pins will hold high value based on the previous Designer sets. And the dust will settle.

HUGE HUGS!!! It is O.K.

Most people seem to be in the same leaky boat.

Hmmm .. While most of us here are in leaky boats, some select boats in Cali must be loaded with precious goodies. Hence, the expo visitors' frustration I guess.

Sorry you feel that way dear Janice. I know your comp is kaputt, but we have to find a way for you to hang out on DPF more. This weekend wasn't half as bad as I expected ;)

I had worked so hard to leave. I had arranged it all, got a new place, found a new dame, started at a new job. I was so close, so why am I back?

The rain fell steadily around me. It was ghostly quiet on the streets, as a slight breeze blew through at my back. Flipping up the back of my trench coat collar, I turned sharply to the left and trotted across the cobblestone street and into the only convenience store in town.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I agree that on DPF is has been most calm, I feel that is probably the case because barely anyone on DPF has managed to get a set

The only problems I have seen, like others, deal with the terrible way Disney handled this release and just how atrocious and inept they are at thinking this whole pin trading thing through. The same thing seems to be happening with the Art of Ariel pin but what can you do.

Any big release is bound to start drama, I'm just glad that for once, it seems this release hasn't affected anywhere all that bad (DPF, PinTalk, Pin Trading on FB) from what I've heard are all doing fine :)

Sorry to hear your frustrated but don't let it get you down. :nono: What people say and what people are two different things. We had threads refusing to pay the high prices then reality started to set in. I rationalized that once they broke the set up, the prices will reinforce the 1K price tag and the prices will hold at $200+.

Pin collecting is my hobby and it brings me joy. The princess pin set, meh. I do not collect the princesses so therefore it was easy for me to say no. I actually had one set fall in my lap for a "decent price". LOL Mulling over it I decided to pass because I would be doing it for profit and not for my personal satisfaction.

I suspect you collect pins because they bring you happiness and nothing beats getting new/used pins in the mail. Just keep at it and remember this is supposed to be fun! My two cents.

It was not tame at all. It was the worst I've ever experienced by far X 100. I think people involved are keeping quiet bc a lot of people acted really badly and are laying low. Really bad behavior, people turning on their "friends" etc...

Yuck is all I have to say....

Im confused how anyone could have acted badly. Either you had a sorcerer ticket and were able to snag a set or you didnt... it seems cut and dried to me.

Unfortunately there were a few members that behaved extremely poorly, according to the stories I have heard. The reason we haven't heard much I think is because everyone is either at the convention still or exhausted.

Okay so I was popping through on my hiatus and have to add my 2 cents worth being an older member who has been around pin trading a while.

Greed has always been a part of pin trading!!! It just seems like something different to those who have not been around as long (over 13 years for me). There have always been those pins that have been way to high priced!!! But with more online places to talk about pins it is more visible and gives us a place to rant where there didn't used to be those places in the olden days.

There will always be people with more money then sense and are willing to pay those prices. I will say it is getting harder to trade for grails because people see these ridiculous prices and think that is what their pins are worth. Some of those same people don't want to give you credit for your pins that are also at ridiculous prices (this doesn't make sense to me). So as a result finding the high end grails is hard. But it has always been hard finding grails, if it wasn't they wouldn't be grails.

Everybody needs to remember pin trading is supposed to be fun. If it isn't then you should take a break and come back to it when you feel like you are ready. This is the second time in the 13 years I have taken a break. The first time I was gone about a month and I couldn't take it any longer then that. Pin trading is not supposed to be life and death, just an enjoyable hobby. Be patient and if the pin gods will you to get a pin be grateful. If not work on newer stuff that comes out and is easier to get.

Okay, enough of my wisdom, back to my vacation. Be good to each other!!!

I can't tell you how much I was verbally abused, threatened, and trash talked. Some of it was by dpf members!! There was some truly dispicable behavior. That's all I will say.

Friday morning there was a very long line from the night before. As the line finally started moving at around 8am one of the Disney managers instructed the line to move forward into a crowd rather than a line so everyone lost their position in the line and were just bunched together trapped in ropes. Then he was slowly letting a few people forward toward the door and of course everyone is pushing and cutting trying to get there. So, there was a split of about 40 some people at the door and the rest of the line waiting behind a rope. Well people from the back started saying they were split from their "family" in the front and jumped to the line at the door which angered many in the back line since the people in the front were all just letting their friends in. Let's just say there were many bad words being said.

Anyway, then we hear there is a separate line for Disney Store and Show Floor which we will be forming. So now as we finally are able to get inside the lobby area in a huge bunch we must now form a single file line. Now again more pushing and cutting. Not a pretty scene to get a mob into a single file line.

Now we are all lined up and waiting. Sorcerer Package people are in a different line and are allowed to enter before our D23 Line. As we are finally moving forward to enter the Show Floor people are starting to move forward passing others in the line. I was roughly about 50 back. Finally entering the door and I see probably about 200 people in front of me. In about 10 minutes I find out the pin sets are sold out. In 10 minutes! How you ask, well I will tell you.

First, many of the exhibitors who sell Disney pins went and purchased them also sending their own employees and borrowing employees from other booths to get them more. And as far as I heard they were purchasing at about 8:45 AM. 15 minutes before the show opened. Then Sorcerer Package people bought them up since they got in before the D23 line. And finally from what I heard Sorcerer line and D23 line people were taking their big blue bag handed to them by Disney Store as they entered and throwing as many pin sets in there as they and their friends wanted. Then just walked around the store pretending to shop until their friends could get in the store to buy since the limit was one per person. It's funny because they didn't actually sell out for at least an hour or so. The sets were just being hoarded in peoples shopping bags.

So unless one had a friend at the front of the line that could hold a set for them then there was no chance at all.

That's exactly what I heard too from a friend who went Friday and missed out on the set. He mentioned that he saw a girl who was #3 in line who missed out on the set. Then when he went inside to get the gold Snow White and pre-order the dolls, he saw another person just sitting in the corner with FIVE sets, waiting for friends to come inside.

Yep, I saw people in the store hoarding dolls when I was at the front of the store talking to the cast member.

I had heard about it karkura, but I never read it firsthand. Wow, just wow. Is there anywhere to message Disney about this? On Ebay, 1 seller had 6 sets for sale. 6?!?!?!? So it is very likely this seller did what was mentioned above.

I am truly sorry to everyone, this whole weekend I have been thinking "why me, why us" really in regards to those who could not attend D23 and have no choice but to pay $1000 for the set, but it sounds like those that went to D23 were probably even more frustrated when seeing that. I'm almost glad I did not go because if I saw a person doing that in the corner, I'm not one to keep quiet (neither is my mom) so we would have gone up to him/her and started something, I just know it. I would have gotten CM's involved and things could have gotten out of hand. I've done it before when things weren't fair and THAT is just not fair.

The problem was the blue bags handed out by the Disney Store were huge so people could have hidden 10 sets in there or more without anyone knowing. The dolls are of course much bigger so those were easier to see. I can't believe Disney Store was so stupid to just leave the sets out on the retail floor. They should have been behind the counter.

I was not in the store at all so you may be right about people complaining to cast members about others in the store holding pins in their bags. That might be where some of the fights happened. I left the line so I don't know.

There were actually fights in the Store? I guess I can see that happening but yes, the problem was definitely how they were left out on shelves. It's sad because I cannot blame Sorcerer Ticket Holders from doing that, I mean, if Disney left them on shelves, ripe for the taking, I think mostly anyone would have done it (or at least thought of doing it). It is just sad that Disney handled D23 so poorly. Not just merchandise wise either, but with the whole disabled lines and things like that, shame on Disney for really going into D23 2013 so badly :(

Why on God's green Earth were the pins not kept behind a counter? That way they could have scanned the ticket, and the one per person would have been held. No one could have held multiples in their hands, if they were behind a counter. They could have moved the line to the counter in a single file line in increments of people at a time. Honestly, it was an accident waiting to happen. At this point I am just thankful no one got hurt during this fiasco.

I'm so sorry for anyone who had to experience this. It definitely is not the Disney Difference, and shame on both Disney and attendees who made this more trouble than it was worth. I hope that the rest of the convention's amazingness with events made up for the disaster of the Disney Store.
