Smooth release! Still able to add it to my cart. Even though I wasn't buying the individual set tonight I started getting anxious waiting for the link! Lol

it's the same with me, although I don't buy anything I'm always getting anxius for others I think that is a sign that we are a great community.

This Cinderella turned out so pretty that I'm hoping for a 17 inch version of her wearing this dress, maybe along with the Ugly Stepsisters and her Prince Charming...
 
That set is incredible. It's the best Cinderella they made so far and it's still available at 4:45 a.m. Maybe the interest for them is fading away?
 
Oh man... Disney should seriously consider cancelling the designer line... I can't believe that the set is still available online!
Especially when you think about the four being released. Aurora and Belle are the least desired of the two, while Alice and Cinderella are the most desired.
This is also the first Cinderella doll with the correct hair color, so say goodbye to ever seeing this hair color again, not to mention the pink dress.

This release will marked as a failure by Disney, especially considering that multiple have said that their stores have leftover sets. A far cry from the Prince/Cinderella set that sold out within the hour.

Guess the interest in these is running low.
 

its the timing, they released it right after the released of belle, gaston and beast..people just bought and may not have the funds. Another thing, the batb platinum set is also coming up so most of them might be saving their money for this. Honestly, disney should rethink their strategy. Not everybody have unlimited account. We have to choose and prioritized. If i didnt get belle or gaston I would have gotten this and also belle and gaston designer. Until now the ad for this is up. It didnt sold out yet apparently
 
Can you imagine limited edition dolls all coming out in 3 consecutive months and the prices are not appealing either...

So in total, Disney released 16 dolls last year.

If we go by years:

2014: 12 dolls
2015: 16 dolls
2016: 11 dolls


Honestly.... Just by observation, i would say money isn't the issue with most of the collectors. If they want something, they'll figure out a way to pay for it. I know some people do care about the budget, but the majority favor the doll over the budget.

Also, it has been over a month since we placed the orders for the Beauty and the Beast dolls, so they spaced them out quite well compared to last year's releases. Last year's releases immediately sold out within the hour (save for a couple I think). And a tentpole character like Cinderella should never last more than the hour mark. That in of itself shows how poorly this line is being received. Also, as a lot of people have mentioned, the chances of them getting the platinum set is very slim, so they're not even gonna try and also, a lot don't think the doll is worth the $750. And again, Aladdin came out last year with a platinum set and that didn't change the spending pattern.

Also take into account the lack of merchandise this year. Art of Belle barely got any good merchandise and they didn't release any designer merchandise, especially the pins and the lithos. So that's a lot of money that collectors would have saved and spent on the dolls.

Which leads me to my initial conclusion that interest is running low and Disney would be wise to cut the line. It's heading towards a dead end.

I'm not attacking you or anything, but I just thought I'd enlighten my side of the discussion.
 



i absolutely agree with you but I also think they are making too many of the same characters so they don't create rarity anymore. We need new characters and not 15 versions of those characters. I love the designer line and was quite impressed with what they did but I am guessing people are tired of always seeing the same characters.

Seriously this new Cinderella is the best one they made so far. If I wasn't on spending restrictions I would get a second set to debox.
 
I missed the Cinderella one released in the UK yesterday because of my work schedule. I was hoping Disney would be doing the same thing as they did last year and releasing all 4 as a set, but after messaging them on Facebook, they have confirmed there is no plans on doing that this year.
 
The Alice set will be a good indication of how much people want a variety of characters. As much as we say Disney needs to branch out, it's the princesses that draw the biggest crowd. I really want to see rarer characters, so I hope people receive Alice well. I think Disney also looks at the secondary market, so I can't say Peter Pan was the success Disney looks for, but that set was pretty impressive (I still regret passing on it).

My biggest complaint about the designer dolls is the way they cram 2 dolls into that small case. My best friend got me the Cinderella set, and while I love it, I think I have to rebox them somehow. The point of the designers AND that display case are to show off the details. Instead, they squish everything inside and even conceal a lot of the details. Cinderella's dress looks silly sewn up the way it is.

If they do a wave of rarer characters, they have to get the numbers right. 6,000 is a LOT for a LE release. I can't see them pushing that many units for Esmeralda (one of my all-time faves), Megara, Jane, or Kida.
 
I'm hoping the Alice set sells well, and they take that as a sign that we want different characters. I'm very picky with the ones I get because I have to pay twice as much (exchange rate/shipping), but I guarantee that if they brought out 5 sets next year all of characters they've never done before I would buy every single one.

Also, some people may not be willing to pay $130 for a character that already has 4+ dolls out. Although they have dress/style variations, some may still see them as less unique thus not worth the LE price tag.
 

Yup and yup. This is the bane of being an Alice collector: Disney usually only wants to do princesses, because they sell. So then you actually get a rare piece of cool LE Alice merchandise, but if it doesn't sell well, you pretty much know they won't try that again. Alice has plenty of fans, but not princess-scale fans. Although I would argue that she is more popular than some of the princesses (Pocahontas, Mulan, maybe even Merida--I'm not knocking them AT ALL, just being realistic about people's interest) but because she just ain't a princess, it's hard to get good items on a regular basis.

Edition size also matters, and I think Disney needs to be more realistic. They didn't make enough designer princesses (the original line), so they WAY overdid the designer villains. Yes, the villains are popular, but not 13,000 popular. They need to offer merchandise, particularly LE collectibles, for a broader range of characters BUT KNOW THEIR LIMITS. Even in the 17" doll line, the original Frozen dolls were only LE 2,500 because they had NO IDEA how popular they'd be. Then they started overdoing the characters at a rate of 5,000 and those just aren't that coveted overall. They only sold out because a lot of scalpers figured they'd make a killing on the secondary market, since it was Anna and Elsa; plenty of dolls are just sitting on eBay at close to cost.

Disney needs to recognize fan interest in non-princess (or even "less popular princess") characters and fulfill that need in a reasonable fashion. If they're worried that Mulan or Pocahontas won't "sell" in 17" doll form, do a LE 2,500. There will be enough people who want them. Make 5,000 and I think it's iffy. In the designer line, do characters like Peter Pan, Jane and Tarzan, etc, but don't make 6,000 of them. There is a way to make people happy and not lose $$$$. It just takes a bit of common sense--something that, at times, Disney seems to lack. Magic is magic, but strategy matters, too.

Sadly I don't think we will ever get a Jane. She would be my grail doll if done right.... I'd love to see a 17in of her in her yellow outfit, then maybe a pair set of the designers with her in her jungle look and Tarzan in his suit.... or her in the trashin the camp look and him in suit. Or anything really!

I;m honestly surprised the Cindy/Lady T set is still up. When they released pics, so many people were loving this set, her accurate hair etc

I was not planning to get them but I caved as I had a $20 coupon to use
