Disney Medallions No More??

Aside from collecting certain pins I collect Lanyard Medallions, the metal ones, specifically the the Mickey and friends with the year on it. On my last trip to WDW I could not find a 2014 Mickey and Friends Lanyard Medallion anywhere. I looked around further and seemed to notice no more metal lanyard medallions hardly anywhere. I asked around and have searched the internet for info but none. Has Disney decided to discontinue making lanyard medallions and am I the only one that has noticed this? Did one get caught in a ride or something because even Disney hasn't said anything about having discontinued them?

I've started to notice that they're more of a Cast thing now. I haven't seen too too many out nowadays when we go either.

I'm fairly certain that I still saw several lanyard medals in places like Mouse Gear, and Pin Traders. However, there has been massive turnover in the styles of open edition pins that stores were feeling squeezed for display space, so there were less lanyard medals on display in other places, like resort gift shops. I'll be heading back to Florida, a week from tomorrow, and I will keep an eye out for what I see. I don't remember seeing a dated medal this year, but I wasn't really looking. We're getting to the point where they discount out the 2014 stuff, and bring in the 2015, so if you just went, it's possible that you caught the transition period.

I went a while back in early spring and was at all the stores from resorts to downtown. The last Medallion made was this one for which they have made one every year. There are card/ID lanyard ends but the Metal ones seem to have disappeared.

Looks like they've just got one on the Disney Store website right now (Jack Skellington). Huh... could have sworn I saw others on there recently.

They had several different ones at different locations at DL this past weekend.
