Well folks, getting pins off Ebay AND listing them is about to enter a whole new era. It seems that the hammer is about to fall on the lot/scrap pin sellers. About time for that one! But it also may fall on re-sellers of Disney merchandise as well.

It seems that Disney IS looking in to whether they can stop re-selling of their merchandise on Ebay. How agressively? I am uncertain, but my 'friend' says don't be surprised if you see a new category pop up on Ebay, which will be closely monitored by TWDC to ensure only legitimate merchandise is being sold.

It actually sounds like a good idea, as it would ensure only legitimate merchandise enters the Ebay market.

Feedback?

My guess would be if the user used a stock photo they wouldn't allow it or they would make them post a picture of the actual item? That would be one way, would force the user to take a picture of their actual item for inspection.

I highly doubt they would require previous purchase proof such as a receipt or anything but I wouldn't be surprised if that did happen.

So happy that this would badly affect scrap/fake pin sellers though!

I've seen similar situations in the golf equipment arena. Cleveland Golf is notorious for pulling eBay ads if the company questions authenticity and then some. They will pull an ad if you are willing to ship an item overseas because the import fees on the company actually make your legit product cheaper than they can sell it themselves. Also, if someone reports a Cleveland Golf item to eBay, more often than not it is pulled. We'll see how TWDC goes forward. I think the hidden mickey lots may get axed first. Then the sellers will have to list them individually and at $.50 per listing they aren't going to make a ton off of a $2 end price item. The future of eBay requiring better quality pics and pics of the actual items, not just a "representative photo" will help with the scrapper issue.

I think this would be a very good idea, but like ThestitchITCH said, how would they maintain that what is being sold is legit? Would it be a system of where you had to apply to resell disney merchandise and then they determine who can sell and who can't, but then again, that still isn't really going to determine that that sellers items are all 100% legit :/

As long as the item is legitimate and authentic, Disney can not stop anyone from selling their authentic Disney merchandise. They can only stop illegitimate items that were not licensed by the company.
