At one time a forum member with the username Disney5 had put togeather a really nice list of all of the vinylmation pins that were available. Does anyone know if he is still maintaining this list and if so where I can find it?

I had to laugh a bit looking at this. I had to stop collecting Vinylmation pins because it was getting out of hand with how many were being released. I think what did me in was the DCL, Park 9, and Urban 9 pins all being released so close to one another. Too much, too fast. Vinylmation overload! :)

I know what you mean, I used to collect farm toys...when I started 30 years ago it was true farm toys people were collecting but once people started collecting and the hobby grew there seemed to be a new collectors edition released daily and then 4 or 5 variations of the toy and then a shelf model, etc. I finally gave up, it took some of the fun out of it. I have seen the same thing happen with Disney pins over the last 10 years. I understand you don't have to collect them all but I think part of the fun for any collector is completing sets, series, etc.

omg too many vinylmation pins! I knew there was a lot, just not this many! I'm not really interested in them to begin with though lol

When the cast lanyard pins (later known as Hidden Mickeys) came out, there seemed to be a lot of people (myself included) that wanted to have the complete set.

I think it was after I had been pin trading for a year or two (around 2005?) that I gave up on having a "complete" set of anything. And at that point in time there were a lot fewer pins than now.

I found myself liking 2 or 3 pins from a set, or time period, or event, then getting those few pins, then feeling like I had to complete the set. I found out that it was a lot harder to get certain pins than others. I would end up spending a lot of time (trade requests, etc.) or money on pins I did not necessarily like, just to be able to say I had a "complete" set.

It did not take too long before I realized the pointlessness of that effort, at least for me. I try to really focus on what pins I like, and not get get sucked into the lure of having more just to "complete the set". I try to remind myself that there is a set entitled "the pins I like and can get", and it is complete at any given moment :)
