Can Anyone tell me what the status of DisneyStore.com is? Are they no longer going to be selling their exclusives? I rarely visit the boards and I have no idea what DS is planning and not sure if there is any info out there? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Disney store continues to sell pins. For the past year, they have mainly been rereleasing Disney park pins. However, there have been a few Disney store "exclusive" items that have come out.

It's a radical departure for "ye good olde days" when new precious highly desired pins where unveiled at midnight Sunday to ravening hoards of buy crazy pin traders.

Steven Miller put out a blog post about this very issue. It seems we're not the only ones wondering what is going on with DS. In his blog he did list several individual pins that when put together form a scene. I think the one on their now is the Mickey and Minnie shopping. He also made sure and point out the "Deluxe Starter Set" available only through DS. Other than that, their didn't look like, to us, that their was going to be many pins released through DS at all. This issue has been a hot bed of controversy on another forum where people are actually writing Disney about the lack of pins available on DS.COM. Everyone has just received the "Thank You, Have A Magical Day" return letters. Nothing seems to be answered in the letters, just the same schpeel about how they work hard to please their on-line guests. So, no, not many pins being released by DS at all this year.

*Sigh*.... I miss staying up till 12am, waiting to see what will be released. Like those Tink dressed as other character pins that never were released.

Ah yes, I remember them well....

For those new to the boards, about 3 years ago the highlight of October was the release of LE250 pins featuring Jessica and Tinker Bell dressed as other Disney characters or in Halloween costume. And for good measure they would occasionally throw Stitch into the mix. The howlings you often hear while online were the appreciation of the ravening hoard of anxious pin purchasers and the agonized screams of their wallets and soon to be liquid puddles of plastic, credit cards.

Ah good times, good times....

Sadly the abuses of some resulted in several backlashes.

1) After watching a few deep pocketed resellers purchase all the pins for later resale online, Disney instituted the first great check, Limits of 1-3 per customer.
2) For a time, Disney actually made you CALL their customer service line to place the order directly. (At least until we overloaded that exchange and overwhelmed their cast members.).
3) The Tinker Bell pins went missing. Scheduled to release a set of pins featuring Tinker Bell dressed as Lilo, Mary Poppins, Aurora, The Queen of Hearts, and Maleficent, the big weekend came but the pins never appeared. This was following an earlier missed Tinker Bell release featuring Tink and New York state. About this time Disney then changed to their current (vastly inferior) mailing service. Although the events appear to be unrelated on the fan side, one can't help but wonder......

Disneystore.com had some great pins, but I also remember some sets that were tiny and terrible. I loaded up on some great pins during the semi-annual pin sales! I don't miss the late nights though! Back then I was in college and could handle it, now that I'm a working stiff I can't do that anymore!
