Depends on the person, but deboxing usually takes at least 25-50% of the value away to a collector.
 
Wow, I just had a look at some of the past release dolls for sell on eBay and prices are through the roof. I haven't been checking on them lately because I had to take a break on spending after all of the March dolls but UGH! 17" Belle is going for $1000 and up now !!!!, and Coronation Anna is getting closer and closer to the $2000 mark. Even Ariel is around $499. This is very disheartening. I don't think I am ever going to get any of the older dolls now -- I'm just going to have to let go of that dream. It's just gotten ridiculous. I was really hoping to get 17" Tiana this year but she is hardly even up for sale anymore.
 

Yeah, I'm glad I got Prince Eric when I did. Missed out on him during the initial release, but found him on eBay earlier this year for a decent price. Granted, he's one of the male LEs, so he was always going to be less expensive, but still, some of the prices are just crazy right now.
 
I swear trying to collect any past release dolls in next to impossible. I'm just super glad I got Eric, Ariel, and Belle ($200 per doll) when I did last year. :l I really want Cinderella and Lady Tremaine, but I can't bring myself to spend a near $400 on them. I have officially thrown in the towel on trying to get any of the older dolls (Alice is a distant dream lol).
 
I don't get why belle is going for so much money though, she's pretty, but as my mom said," she looks like an egg yolk."
the prices on eBay are getting ridiculous. I plan on getting Ariel and Classic Cinderella on Amazon since their prices are still in the 300 range. It's hard to believe that 300$ sounds cheap for these dolls at this point. At least live action Cinderella is still about 180$.
 
I bought Classic Cinderella not too long ago off ebay for a little over $300, and I'm now kicking myself for passing on ariel around the same time when she could easily be won for $350... So I'm thinking I might try and get Eric and Ariel ASAP before they go up anymore.

i would really only like to get Rapunzel, Ice Elsa, and Tiana... But I don't see those happening in the near future, so I want to focus on ariel since she's attainable.
 

Same here with Rapunzel, but I refuse to pay over $1000. As for Eric, he's still priced in the $200 range, so he's definitely more affordable than most of the princess dolls.

there's a Rapunzel on eBay now that is just at $1000, but I just can't bring myself to pay that for one doll. I bid on an ariel just now for about 420-ish with lithographs, little mermaid bluray, and the limited edition doll, so fingers crossed.

i was looking at all the ones that sold ariel and eric together and if I buy them seperately it either evens out or comes out a little less if I buy them seperately so I think I'll get ariel for now and eric later.


this doll business is hard work.
 
And this is why I've now started resorting to learning how to make OOAKs. I feel like the time to learn how to embroider, hairstyle, and make patterns is worth less than it would to buy the doll on a secondary market. Plus, I really don't like the way they did the Ariel doll. I've gone back and forth so many times on her, but I couldn't even justify the price when it was $200, or when it came out in stores for retail. They could have made her tail look realistic and hand paint it with a silicone rubber blend. Or made her tail the right hue, maybe not the exact shade, but at least put it in the green family.

I bought two singing Annas today: one for FF Anna and the other for a second coronation Anna. We'll see how my skills evolve throughout this summer.

That would certainly be a valid explanation for why the secondhand prices all exploded in the middle of March. But really, the prices before that were pretty ridiculous to begin with. I get that the dolls are limited edition and some collectors leaving the hobby/resellers want to make more on the dolls than they paid for, but really? Selling SQ Elsa for over $2000 when she retailed for $100?


Oh no. I haven't checked eBay since the first few days after Wedding Cinderella came out, lol. Darn it! Belle was the first 17'' doll I'd missed that I was trying to save up for, but there's no way I'm paying $1000 for her. I really hope these prices go down, and down soon. This is so disheartening for everyone who's starting to collect and realize just how greedy sellers can be.

I hope you are able to find your LE Tiana for a great deal. I haven't seen her around as much these days either, but every now and then I'll still hear about someone finding her for a wonderful price.

I hope disney starts a new line soon, one with more accurate representations of the characters and more varied collection would be neat. I would love the detail and accuracy to be like the 90's great villain series! Because really this series they have just about done all the main characters/princess's and it's gotten to the point that they are not fun to collect at all just stressful. I kinda wish they just did limited edition dolls but without a numbered COA. But the same amount of detail/price etc. The prices are insane on ebay- each to his own but none of the dolls are worth the ebay prices.

I'm in a Frozen merch group on FB, we get merch for each other at retail+ ship.... been in this group since Frozen released. anyway one lady saw Coronation Anna at a collectible dealer and posted. I was the first comment and asked if she could go back and get her for me and I would pay her and shipping.plus a finder fee for her time.

Well someone else in the group went and bought the doll. I was on the phone with the dealer and the doll literally sold 2 minutes before.

I MISSED CORONATION ANNA, BOXED, FOR US$350. :'(

I am so pissed right now, I thought this was one group I could trust. NOPE.

Could anyone give an advice about how to make a safe trade on FB? I just learned that it can only protect me if I don't receive anything but not covering that case that item is significantly not as described. Is it possible that there is a way that can cover INAD case when doing a facebook trade?

From what I read, both parties agree on a price/value and send it to each other as goods.

Congrats!! Also, I just checked, and ... wow, those prices went WAY up. When did that happen??? She was still in the $400-500 range a few months ago...
 
Hey everyone, I have a general question!

Out of the moderately priced dolls (somewhere between $200-600) which ones are your favorites? I am really looking to find an LE doll that came out before I started collecting, but it's hard to justify the prices on my special favorites (sigh). I already have Blue Aurora, Prince Phillip, Ball Gown Cinderella, and Epilogue Anna, and I was thinking about getting Ariel and Prince Eric before they go off the deep end, but I really wanted to hear all of your thoughts!
 

Ariel is getting super expensive so I'd advise you get her ASAP!
 
If you really want, go and get Ariel ASAP because I saw her price rockets up on Ebay.

I guess I got lucky coz I got her for $500. (I'm still questioning my saneness since I've never spent so much on a doll lol) When I checked a few places that seems to me the market price right now but I did see someone just paid $750 for her and there's an ongoing listing on eBay that's almost $500 for a severely damaged box!
 
Congrats! I really like her outfit especially her cape. Luckily, I got her early last year for about $430 plus international shipping fee. What I learned is to get your favorite doll ASAP when you can before it's too late or you'll get burned. I regretted not getting my coronation Anna earlier and it costed me much more to get her last month.
 

I definitely loved the details that went into the dress and I might even dare say they are more intricate than Snow Queen! (Even though Snow Queen and Coronation Anna will forever be my grail dolls I simply cannot justify the prices they are going for right now.) I can't wait to see her!!
