I was wondering where pin from events like Dateline Disney and Sci Fi Academy go that have not sold out during the event?

Is there a place to find these somewhere? I know I have seen Haunted Mansion pins from the Haunted Mansion O'pin House at the character warehouse store on Ball I believe.

Any info would be much appreciated.

We get quite a few at the Disney Warehouse in White House, TN. Have seen O-Pin House, Pin Oddysey.

Never WDW events, always DLR.

I remember that all the Dateline Event pins that were not sold were to be destroyed and never sold. Well, a week later there were so many of the unpopular pins and I assume a huge loss of profit that they ended up on DLR as LE rack pins. I was at DLR Little Green Men store last week and many Sci-Fi Event Pins were there. Yes the popular pins are sold out but like Disney, a box may be found or a Cast member may put them aside for friend that were never distributed, ect. I do not know as to WDW but DLR sells everyting no matter how long it takes.

That is why I don't go to Events. Oh, I did go to the Alice Unevent - FREE. Why should I pay to purchase pins and may not even get the pins I wanted. Usually they are somewhere online or on forums at original retail or at some type of profit but if you wait you'll get it some day.

Well, in the case of Sci-Fi Academy the answer to this was, "Because we all got 32 board pulls of awesome AP, PP, and LE pins." ^_^

Sci-Fi was ridiculous. It was my first Pin Trading Event, and now I'm determined to go to as many as I can attend in the future.

I would not pay to go, I think, but if they ever did a Pixar Event - that is a different story. I could always beg members here to sponser me as others have?

Aw, to have a Frame set LE 100 with 10 pins with one pin from each 1st release Pixar movie?

But again, I would be in a tough situation to PAY for an DLR Event where I find that Disney really does not care or gear some sort of way to the collector. Mind you, I think that the Pin Collectors are a small part of pin sales (tourist?) and puts out what ever a trend is or what they think is new or wanted.

Like, I had a sponsor for Sci-Fi, but even if I didn't, it would've been totally worthwhile. In a year where the pin trading world has seen alot of doom, gloom, and reduced support, that event worked wonders to rekindle my faith in Disney's dedication. Hopefully it's an omen for times to come, and the first of many good new things for the hobby.

I think those Sci Fi Academy pins will be at DLR for a looonnnnggg time. Disneyana on Main St. even has a wall dedicated to these which is usually unheard of.

There were fewer than 300 attendees, and aside from a couple hot items and a few big sci-fi fans, most attendees weren't buying a ton of stuff. Even alot of the more popular items, like the Penny Arcade Mystery Boxes, seemed hugely over-produced: 1000 Mystery Boxes for the Alice-Unevent, but 2100 at Sci-Fi? The numbers kind of boggled my mind. @_@

Up the Mystery Boxes edition size because they are hot and will sell? What a thought. Can't wait until the next event where the mystery boxes of 12 per original pin series will have 4 mini (like mini vinylmations) pins per box with 5 chasers LE 50, LE 100, LE 250, LE 500, and LE 1000 at each box for $15.95 + tax and entrance fee. That's a minimum 5400 boxes then add the regular set. Hmmmm 5000 boxes? It will sell out!

I think my numbers are right. Just correct. I am not by a calculator. It's the top of my head.

Sci-Fi Academy would have made a great WDW pin event at the Contemporary Hotel and tied it in with the last of the Star Wars Weekends at DHS. Disney overestimated the sci fi pin collectors in So Cal.

Does anyone know if the Piece of Star Tours Jumbo pin sold out at the event or if its for sale somewhere at DLR?

It's everywhere at DLR, even at Disneyana! I've never seen pins at Disneyana, except those reserved to the Osmond Dolls or other figurines. For $45, I'm sure it'll be there for a while as well. I'm returning my extra Star Tours PoH too.

How often does this store update their inventory?

Unforunately, I don't get there enough to know, for sure.

I went 2 months apart. A lot of the clothing and toys were updated. The pins were basically the same though. A couple of diorama OE pins added.
