Because I don't.

I'm just playing. I do remember those days. I remember when it was fun. I remember trading for pins without having to worry about their value or their trades/wants ratio, etc. I remember being happy to trade for just about anything, as it was a nice thing to do. It's not like that never happens anymore, but it's no longer the norm like it used to be.

Whilst I still find pin trading fun and enjoyable, it just seems to carry a lot of stress with it. Whilst I personally try not to get stressed over such things, other people clearly can't help it. There seems to be more rant threads than ever before. People seem to be falling out with each other. It's just a real shame.

I doubt that anyone starts this hobby in a negative way, so it would be nice if all of us (or some of us at least) could just take a step back and try to remember the good old days. Even if your faith in pin trading (and pin traders) has been shaken, just try to find the silver lining. Try and think of how a child thinks of pin trading. It's just a nice thing to do, to collect nice things related to something you love; Disney.

LOL, I'm rambling. If all else fails, have this amusing smiley face meme.

Lol. I was about to say I don't either until I saw your post. I do! I think trading for hidden mickey's was when I had no stress in the pin trading world. It got stressful when I started wanting grails. Haha.
 
Yus, plus occasionally you get a really good pin-deal and it makes it all better, plus you get to meet epically wonderflab people! Its a shame it has its stressful moments, but I think anything you really want can get stressful.

Hence the I can blame you for getting me in to it and introducing me to all the wonderful people that you have <3! Silver lining for me is all the wonderful people I have met because of this hobby even if it does involve some really stressful / ranting moments ^_^! All your fault *hugs!* Teehee!
 
I remember 8 years ago, when I was 17, if anyone was on the fence about our trade I would only have to throw out my best puppy-dog eyes to get them to say yes. haha
 
Yep, now.

Sometimes I do experience a bit of disappointment seeing a new pin that I know I won't be obtaining for awhile, but stress? I know where my limits are, I know what patience can lead to. The thing that makes me most stressed out is actually having a highly wanted pin for trade. Because I feel like I should do *something* with it involving market value, but I don't want to! I just want the pins I want, and it to end up in a good home (not someone who is looking to "cash in" or will sell it when they get out of trading in 2 years). But that doesn't happen too often.
 
I pretty much only stress out about how I'm going to pay for all these pins.

Night owl wife, with no job, allows me to relax about being able to pull overnighters to get pins.
 
Jeez, with all these posts lately, I'm feeling like I'm just getting into this pin trading business as the product life cycle is on the downswing >_<

The only stress I've had so far is not finding people who are willing to trade with me. The one time I actually traded in the parks, it was a positive and easy experience, but that's a different place than online or on the actual pin trading nights apparently. At least I have a really particular collection and I'm reconciling myself to having to buy it instead of being able to trade for it. It's too bad because I'd like to move my traders, but oh well.
 
haha Lindsay, aye true that. I think the most fun I had was at mousemeets when I was trading quickly and frequently for pins for other people and helping others out

also be your fault when you told me about pinpics and dizpins back in the day and I went MAD!!! hahaha still think I am lol
 
I totally agree lindsay,

it seems even the posts with positive asperations get dragged into negativity. I have tried posting happy things but theres always someonewho posts totally off topic with some negative reply. We have lost 3 traders this month and now it seems like it will be 4 so sad ) i wish we could have a forum just for good things where you are not allowed to post anything negative. My stress also comes from all these rants and angry posts.
If this keeps up i am going back into my shell for a few more years. I guess a 5 year break was not long enough.

But i still have hope that those few will just stop posting or get out of the trading business so we can enjoy it.

The negativity brings me down man!

As for the silver lining, pins have silver linings! And i loves me some pins!

Wow Gillian, you can remember 8 years ago I can't remember breakfast which I just ate. Ahh the joys of youth. But seriously, I took my patience by the shoulders this morning and gave it a good shake. Then all the memories of past trades came flooding back and now - I'm OK. I have been visioning myself in Sept seeing someone had the UP Beloved Tale (which I dearly want) and then - yes - I have something they want and - bingo - we trade.

My new motto: Thoughts become things.......choose the good ones.

I remember the hidden mickey stage of life. My husband at the time boyfriend and I got our passes when we first started to date and I saw lanyards with pins on them. I asked a cast member about the pins and they explained pin trading. We get home and I am a girl that likes to get her money's worth so I go on ebay and see dirt cheap pins. So I buy 50 and we started the hidden mickey hunt. We were addicted! We went on our days off and when we had the night or morning free. For a year we did this and loved it. Go on ebay and get tons and tons of pins. We have two boards filled with pins.

I was at the point I needed a third one. Then I finally got the courage to talk to the "crazy pin traders" at WWH barrels. I saw a big stitch pin that I feel in love with. I wanted it. But I had nothing to trade. They went through my pins and told me that all I had was scrappers. We went home and looked at our board and brushed it off... Then the wave of traders kept bagging on our pins. Once we learned more about scrappers I had to take down over 600 Hidden Mickey pins and kept maybe 50 Saddest day of pin trading in our lives.

So we got into limited edition pins and only trade new hidden mickey pins. So the stress has gone up so much more since then. Oh How I miss the hey you, you have a pin I want here take this pin I don't want. But on a positive note I now know more about my pins and have met some amazing people

Sometimes. Whenever anyone at work asks me if I had a busy weekend, I can't ever answer them because I don't remember what I did the past weekend!

But I do remember a lot of "Oh, please! I'm just a young girl trying to collect Alice." People were so nice back then!
 
I remember driving my hubby nuts going from cast member to cast member trying to find that last pin to complete a set and being so excited when I did . It was like doing the happy dance . I still get excited at pin events when I get a holy grail that I've been wanting for year's . No matter how much or whom got me the pin, it's my pin to trade . And if the trader wanting my pin is happy and I am happy . Isn't that what counts . I, myself, am getting too old to be stressed over something that I have truly enjoyed . I was so upset last night that I actually cried . It's the younger set that really hurt my feelings, but that is my problem to deal with and no one else's . From this day forward, I'm going to get my traders from my friend, trade like I always have and ignore the rest . I want to enjoy this hobby , not hinder it . Happy Trading to you all .
